The Whitley, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Atlanta Buckhead

Atlanta, Georgia

Virgin rating

The hotel

Buckland is home to some of the best restaurants, shopping, art galleries and nightlife in Atlanta, an is one of the most affluent and trendy communities in the area. If this sound like you're kind of vibe, then the newly renovated, sophisticated Whitley hotel puts you in a great location to explore all of this. If you're staying on a Saturday, we highly recommend trying out 'Tipsy Tea' at the Trade Root restaurant within the hotel, where you can try gin infused teas alongside your classic finger sandwiches and teatime bakes. The restaurant and lounge is great at any time of day though, and you can even enjoy some live jazz music whilst sipping on a cocktail on select evenings. When you're not enjoying the food and drink on offer, book a treatment in the spa or relax in the sauna. And if you really want to make the most of the hotel's facilities, upgrade to a club room to enjoy the additional benefits of the lounge - hors d'oeuvres and wine in the evening?! That's a yes from us.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great mixology class!

We had a curated mixology class with Tsegaye. He provided the most informative and fun class for our small group. The manager Irvin was very helpful throughout the experience. Tsegaye went above and beyond for our group. The menu even included yummy mock tails! I would absolutely come back and stay at the hotel.

Had a 3-night stay as a family and picked the Whitley on a whim for its lovely pool and great location, walkable to Phipps Plaza and Lennox mall. We received a warm welcome from the staff and our daughter was able to choose a toy from a welcome wagon, which we thought was a great touch. We had an excellent stay overall, the room decor was charming (I loved the feature wallpaper!) the beds were extremely comfortable and we slept beautifully. I very much enjoyed the Byredo toiletries in the bathroom. Every staff member I encountered, from the front desk, housekeeping and in the bar and restaurant was pleasant, helpful and friendly. I won't think of staying anywhere else when I next visit Atlanta. My only small, tiny complaint was that the coffee wasn't very good. Maybe as a European we're used to a stronger flavour. Read less

The room was more than adequate, but what sets a five star hotel apart is the quality of the amenities and the service. Both should be stellar. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at the Whitley. The Wi-Fi in my room was not working when I checked in on Friday afternoon. I called the front desk for assistance and was first told to restart my phone and my computer. That, of course, did nothing, and when I requested help again, I was referred to an IT service out of the country to help me work through the issue. After spending 20 minutes on the phone with no success, I called the front desk again and was told she could not help me. When I requested another room, I was told to use the Wi-Fi in the lobby or one of their meeting rooms. That is the kind of attitude I expect at a three star hotel not a five star hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting superior service. Atlanta has several hotels that will offer a better experience. Read less
