The hotel

Built in 1888, this fully restored Victorian-Romanesque style mansion captures the very heart of southern charm and opulence. Doors with large Lalique crystal handles open onto a spacious lobby with marble columns, a high ceiling and sparkling chandelier. Beyond is the marble courtyard complete with heated relaxation pool and a stunning water wall. If you’re dining at the hotel, you’re in for a treat. We were excited to stay for 5 nights and booked a one bedroom suite, the floor plan of which was quite specific with a separate bed and lounge area. We were excited to stay for 5 nights and booked a one bedroom suite, the floor plan of which was quite specific with a separate bed and lounge area. On arrival, equivalent rooms were unavailable and a series of alternatives were presented, none of which matched the expectations that had been set. The staff promised to find a solution, but ultimately presented the original room, so the booking was cancelled and we found another 5* hotel nearby. The staff were quite pleasant but their ability to problem solve and resolve the issue was unsatisfactory. It felt like a bait and switch. Do not assume that what they are selling is what you will get and certainly don’t assume the pictures or floor plans will be similar to what is presented. They admitted that there is a problem with the visuals not matching the actuals. Buyers beware. The sad part is that the decor and environment is beautiful, but service standards and accuracy is way off what you should expect at the price point. Read less

Did not stay at hotel but the Valet, Cole, that parked my car for me to attend my Grandson’s final concert in Forsyth Park, directly across from the hotel and across from a 2 lane one way VERY BUSY STREET…..the nicest young man…..he unloaded my little wagon, loaded the items in it and literally walked me to the park to make sure i got they ok. Did not stay at hotel but the Valet, Cole, that parked my car for me to attend my Grandson’s final concert in Forsyth Park, directly across from the hotel and across from a 2 lane one way VERY BUSY STREET…..the nicest young man…..he unloaded my little wagon, loaded the items in it and literally walked me to the park to make sure i got they ok. I am 80 years old and can do all this myself but lifting is an issue. Wow. What a nice young man and even my encounter returning he and couple others of which i did not get names made sure all my items were in the car and directed me back into the traffic. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with great décor and crisp bed sheets. The pool area was the highlight of the hotel as it was designed beautifully. The food was also delicious and well thought out. I would definitely go back and would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Hotel bardo has excellent food and a beautiful pool! The hotel staff are super friendly and helpful ! The rooms are spacious and cozy along with the spa like bathroom! The pool bar offers refreshments and food and I enjoyed the restaurant! I had a wonderful stay!
