Most of the staff were cognizant of available attractions and landmarks in Savannah which made navigating the city more enjoyable. Shuttle drivers were extremely friendly. As great as this hotel is, rating it with 5 stars, the antithesis can be noted for the restaurant staff. Hopefully the Marriott will address the restaurant issues that virtually all diners were aware of. Will stay at this Grand Bohemian again. Read less

The positive....the valet and housekeeping staff could not have been any friendlier! Room was clean. The negative...room location request was completely ignored. Since it was our 19th wedding anniversary as well as New Year's eve I was hoping for a room with a nice view. Twice (when I originally booked the reservation through Marriott and second time at check-in upon arrival with front desk receptionist I mentioned it was our anniversary and kindly asked to please NOT BE IN ANY ROOM OVERLOOKING THE HVAC UNITS. When we arrive back to the hotel at 4:00 p.m. for check in and go up to our room, you guessed it!! Our room is overlooking the HVAC units. Yeah, I was not happy. Reception guy who assigned us our room admitted that guests using their Marriott points for a free night are typically placed in these rooms. Well, good to know this as I will be sure to keep that in mind next time I visit the area. On a positive note, I did get an apology as well as got reimbursed my points so I appreciated that. Thank you for doing the right thing. It would be a nice gesture if your front desk staff could be better trained with acknowledging guests during check in who are there celebrating a special event such as a wedding anniversary or a birthday and atleast try to accomodate their wishes for a certain room type or location. Perhaps some small perk like a note left in the room or something wishing you a Happy Anniversary or Birthday! But it was ignored. That's fine. I'll remember that in the future. Valet staff was super friendly but almost seemed a little "too" eager when we arrived. There was a woman that appeared to "oversee" the valet guys, perhaps a hotel manager. Things just felt awkward when we arrived and pulled up to the hotel in our car. It was almost like too many valet guys all swarming our car at once to open doors and be the first to greet us. While I appreciated their welcome it seemed a bit much and was made worse by the fact that this woman was watching over these guys making sure they were all doing their jobs. It just felt awkward and forced and I almost felt sorry for these nice men. So maybe tone that down a little. It's not like people arriving here are royalty or anything ( not us anyway). Again, I appreciated my points being returned to me and the apology. Read less

The hotel is beautiful, the location is excellent and the staff is fantastic. Why then am I only giving four stars? The room was just plain weird. We had a deluxe king overlooking the park. It was a very strange layout and we didn't care for it. Read less

Our whole experience was wonderful! A beautiful property for sure; but certainly what stands out is the impeccable service and attention to guests! Kyler M. was professional, prompt, and always cheerful! Kyler is definitely as asset to both the Mansion and Savannah as well!
