The Kimpton Brice Hotel

Savannah, Georgia

The hotel

Combining old world graciousness with contemporary style, The Kimpton Brice Hotel is an establishment any modern-day southern belle would be proud to grace with her presence. Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with armoires and floor. There’s complimentary tea and coffee served in the morning and a hosted wine hour early evening – a great way to meet fellow guests and pick up a few sightseeing tips. There are restaurants aplenty to choose from close by but Pacci Italian Kitchen & Bar is very inviting with the atmosphere of a rustic country farmhouse. Settle down at lunchtime and feast on cured meats and pickled vegetables or bag a seat in the garden courtyard come sundown, admiring the stars in the night sky as you sip on a glass of something chilled.

Not sure how there are so many great reviews of this property after our stay last weekend. From the moment we walked in it was disappointment after disappointment. Service staff couldn't even be bothered to hold the door for us coming in and out a single time during our stay and just watched as my husband and I struggled to grab the handle with our bags and dog. After getting our keys from the less than friendly concierge, we arrived to the 2nd floor (which I assume is where they keep all the guests with dogs because it smelled musty and the carpets throughout were not clean), we brought our small dog along and was the main reason for choosing this hotel. The first room we were given was disgusting to say the least - the ceiling above the shower was literally crumbling into the shower, and every surface was covered in dust. Not to mention there was lipstick marks on EVERY glass I picked up throughout our stay and even heard another guest complain about this at breakfast - EVERY SINGLE COFFEE CUP...The location is fine, but since you're right on a main intersection the noise from the traffic is constant. THE WORST part of our stay by far was the bed. It was so hollowed out from YEARS of use, you can feel every spring as you're literally sleeping on a boxspring. The worst three nights of sleep of my life. We borrowed two of the bikes to enjoy a nice ride around town, but both were in pretty shabby condition, pedals bent, bell broken etc...We also had booked our room with breakfast included (the highlight of our stay) and upon checkout the concierge attempted to argue with me about it, as if I wouldn't have remembered overpaying for this terrible experience. INCREDIBLY unprofessional. NEVER AGAIN. Read less

I normally would have given this hotel with its very friendly staff, modern but classic vibe, Uber dog friendly, near to the main drag location, and attached to its own awesome restaurant a 5star review—EXCEPT we left an irreplaceable 2y child’s toy in the room (he can’t sleep without it and he’s had it since he was born) and when we called the… Read more
I normally would have given this hotel with its very friendly staff, modern but classic vibe, Uber dog friendly, near to the main drag location, and attached to its own awesome restaurant a 5star review—EXCEPT we left an irreplaceable 2y child’s toy in the room (he can’t sleep without it and he’s had it since he was born) and when we called the next day, we got the old runaround. No one had seen it, no one cared about it, and we kept getting transferred to Housekeeping to leave multiple messages in their Lost and Found dept, to not have ONE person from housekeeping connected to the cleaning of our room call us back or talk to us. There was no effort on their part to even find the person who had cleaned the room less than 24h prior, even after my husband asked to talk to a manager, and even when we mentioned we’d drive the 5.5h back to Savannah and dig through their garbage for this thing if it had indeed been thrown away. It was one of our saddest and least feeling in control experiences as a family (yes, first world problems, I know), and it’s attached forever to the Kimpton Brice in Savannah. So, sadly, even though we did have a good experience overnight staying there, once we were out the door and needed help, we didn’t receive it—so the whole experience felt one dimensional, like it was an act. Terrible terrible hotel and service. I booked on hoteltonight for a five night stay. The location is fine. The decor is average to fine. First thing I noticed is that there are absolutely no attendants at the door. I have a toddler and a stroller and opening the door for my walking toddler while pushing my stroller is difficult-I can do that at home for free. Then we saw our room. There were carpet stains everywhere and the bed frames were filthy. Easily visible to the eye. Then it occurred to me; this hotel is basically a hotel for pets which also allows humans to stay. It was so dirty. If people are staying for one night in an hotel do you really think they’re going to care that much if their beloved dog soils the carpet? Judging from my room; no. Disgusting. But the culmination of my stay was my third night and the newly checked in DOG with humans next door. The dog barked as soon as the humans left and continued for twenty minutes during which I called the front desk three times. With my poor sun tired toddler barely asleep next to me. The front desk attendant told me he would make keys for me to move. At 915 PM. I am by myself with luggage, groceries in the fridge, bottles and toddler dishes washed and drying and enough luggage for me and baby for a week and a dog starts barking and I’m told I can move at 930 PM? I’m furious at hotelstonight for giving this hotel 4 stars. I’m furious at the current state of the American worker. Most of all, I’m furious at the Kimpton brand for allowing this hotel to be a Kimpton hotel. It is worn out. It is dirty. The staff is subpar. Shame on them Read less

Unexpected stay in Savannah, so glad we found the Brice! Pet friendly, Incredibly elegant, lovely accomodating staff, from front desk to valets, we couldn't have been more pleased! Would highly recommend this hotel for it's modern southern charm.

We had a pleasant stay at the Brice for our short trip to Savannah. The Brice is located in a great spot, you can walk to just about everything downtown or better yet, use the hotel bikes! The courtyard is a great spot to grab a drink and relax before dinner.
