The hotel

Combining old world graciousness with contemporary style, The Kimpton Brice Hotel is an establishment any modern-day southern belle would be proud to grace with her presence. Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with armoires and floor. There’s complimentary tea and coffee served in the morning and a hosted wine hour early evening – a great way to meet fellow guests and pick up a few sightseeing tips. There are restaurants aplenty to choose from close by but Pacci Italian Kitchen & Bar is very inviting with the atmosphere of a rustic country farmhouse. Settle down at lunchtime and feast on cured meats and pickled vegetables or bag a seat in the garden courtyard come sundown, admiring the stars in the night sky as you sip on a glass of something chilled.

I was warmly greeted by the hotel receptionist. She is such a a gem. I was given Room 356 with a view of the pool. The room is very basic. My television was already on. Lack of furniture . My one office chair woobles. No microwave, premium towels or bedding, and given 1 bar of soap. There is a small refrigerator . The refrigerator was empty. So much for a stocked bar. No alarm clock. My bed squeaks at every turn. The floor felt of vinyl. The bathroom is small with no sink. I would question the 4 star rating. I would probably rate it more in the 2 star range. The good news is that my room was clean. Read less

Location is great. Housekeeping is minimal. We never quite got enough towels and they left our door propped open so anyone could have gone in. Staff were not particularly well trained or responsive. We lost a room key and when we asked for a replacement they didn't even ask us for id. Room amenities are fine. Happy hour and fruited water in… Read more

The hotel is perfectly situated in one of the corners of the historic quarters of the city. When we arrived we noticed there were a few dogs with their owners on the lobby. My husband is allergic to dogs and when we asked reception we were told they were an extremely pet friendly hotel and that all rooms had had a pet at some point. They tried to find a room that had not had pets recently. That was very kind but we felt strongly they were trying to tell us it was our fault for not checking. Perhaps we should have but in the case of this hotel, it was a bit too much. If you are dog owner this is definitely the hotel for you. One of the evenings while queuing to get their complimentary afternoon wine glass (served in plastic cups??), I counted 4/5 dogs in the not too big area. We had to seat outside to enjoy our wine. That same evening there was a disabled lady complaining to the receptionists that she had been woken up by dogs in the room next door barking all night. The rooms are nice and well appointed but quite simple. The beds were very squeaky and noisy. They have no coffee/tea facilities which I expected for a hotel of this category. The breakfast menu was really good but lacked simple options like continental pastries. All in all the hotel has the potential to be a great hotel. The decor is trendy and elegant and I really liked their lobby and patio area. A few simple changes ie tea/coffee facilities in the room and a warning on reservation sites about their pet policies would be great. Final point, their parking across the road is $44 per day. Book on I park it two blocks away and you will pay half. Read less

The staff at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. We alwaus love going to the Brice when we visit Savannah. They know how to treat their guest including the furry ones, and it is a close walk to River Street and other fun attractions in Savannah.

Beautiful hotel with lovely courtyard. First problem: ordered takeout from restuarant, around 7pm, quite empty. Waited 20 minutes and went to room. Entree wrong: chix parm instead of meatball appetizer. Went down to fix: their reply was they needed to charge me more for the unwanted item. Awful exchange. Terrible food and waste of money. Next am, left early am and returned midday. My key would not open my door. Went back down twice. No keys worked. They could find a staff maintenence person, so they had to call the lock guy. I was locked out almost 2 hours. Now its 15 days later and hotel will not respond as to why security deposit is still on hold. Retaliation? Bad luck? Read less
