The Kimpton Brice Hotel

Savannah, Georgia

The hotel

Combining old world graciousness with contemporary style, The Kimpton Brice Hotel is an establishment any modern-day southern belle would be proud to grace with her presence. Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with armoires and floor. There’s complimentary tea and coffee served in the morning and a hosted wine hour early evening – a great way to meet fellow guests and pick up a few sightseeing tips. There are restaurants aplenty to choose from close by but Pacci Italian Kitchen & Bar is very inviting with the atmosphere of a rustic country farmhouse. Settle down at lunchtime and feast on cured meats and pickled vegetables or bag a seat in the garden courtyard come sundown, admiring the stars in the night sky as you sip on a glass of something chilled.

This is a lovely hotel that has an ideal location. Within walking distance to the river, historic district, shopping and restaurants. Our stay was very enjoyable and the all the staff were friendly and very professional. Next time we will bring our dog! Will definitely stay there again.

Upon arriving at the Kimpton I was displeased to find they do not have a curbside to at least pull up and unload luggage before taking the vehicle across the street to park ($25/ night). I think at a minimum there would be at least on valley attendant to help with luggage and check in. So basically I had to sit outside in the pouring rain and unload the luggage myself. After getting inside, soaking wet, I had to poke around to find the check in desk, which was a fairly smooth experience. They offered me two drink tickets for my girlfriends birthday, which was nice. However, being Sapphire Elite (stay at least 75 nights/ year) I was supposed to get an upgraded room, which I never got. Looking around, the hotel obviously had a lot of capacity even with the new COVID requirements. The rooms was clean but the furniture was rather outdated for a Kimpton. The halls smelled very badly of mildew from all the rain. Furthermore, there were other small things - like the broken hairdryer. The most disappointing experience was when calling for room service for a coffee since I’ve been traveling all day, I was informed that it was currently not available because there was a wedding reception and they didn’t have enough people (basically they were more important than customers who spend nearly 75% of the year in their hotels). Either way, I went down to get it myself just to discover that the espresso machine wasn’t working (bartender didn’t even know) and they didn’t even have coffee grounds for an american coffee, so I went back to the room empty handed and disappointed. All in all is was just a bad experience. It was supposed to be a special stay but was short in all regards. I would expect this from a holiday inn or something equivalent, but not a Kimpton. Conclusion - save the money and get better service somewhere else. Read less

I too booked what I thought was Sip and Stroll but they had no details of it. However they did honor it with the drinks and parking. Our shade was broken in 1st room so we moved across the hall. Also we liked a little 3 block walk to get going, quieter area. I think hotels are still getting adjusted to Covid guidelines. This was our 1st trip traveling during Covid. Happy hour free drinks 4-5, nice touch. Overall nice and they worked with you! Read less

I booked our room under the "Romance in Savannah" promo on the website for our wedding anniversary trip. I called Brice staff twice prior to arrival trying to confirm that we would have the amenities offered under this promo and they assured me they were "working on it" and would call me back once they got everything in order. Never got a call. No "romantic" amenities in the room at all - super disappointing. I would agree with another recent reviewer that the photos online of the rooms are deceptive. The lobby decor is stunning, but the upper floor hallway decor and room quality is average at best. Not worth the price tag in my opinion. The location of the Brice was also not ideal. When we return to Savannah I will be booking a hotel closer to the restaurants and River Street. Finally, while I noticed the Brice was listed as "pet-friendly" I was shocked at the overwhelming amount of pets. We were woken up every morning of our stay anytime between 6-8 am by barking dogs. I love dogs and have two of my own but I would strongly recommend, if you are not traveling with your pets, to look into a different hotel option. Positives - the water pressure was great and the ladies at the bar were really sweet. Read less

This hotel has a great location, cool rooms, great AC. The pool is nice, but gym was closed due to COVID. Staff was nice, mistake made on room billing for stay, but they rectified it. Would recommend a stay here if you want to be in a perfect location to explore Savannah’s waterfront area.
