The W XYZ bar offers the very best in classic and contemporary tunes as well as live acoustic sets, cocktails and draft beers, meaning you don't have to roam too far to have fun although, with Bourbon Street and the French Quarter nearby it would be rude not to spend at least one night on the tiles. A few things. I have a good friend of mine that brag so much about thee aloft so I’ve decided to give it a try. I’m a titanium elite member and when i arrived to the aloft i didn’t feel welcome. The lady that checked me In, i believe her name way rayshell or Rachael, her speech wasn’t very clear at all and i had a very hard time making out what she was trying to say to me. She asked me several questions and i had to have her repeat herself a few times because she wasn’t speaking clear, on top of that the linen wasn’t clean or wasn’t in any of the rooms, she told me i could go up to the room of i wanted to which i thought was unprofessional and she also failed to acknowledge my status. When i got to the room i couldn’t get in so i had to go all the way back to the desk and let another young lady at the desk,i forget her name but she was wearing the most stunning purple lipstick i had ever seen and believe it or not the smile she gave me cheered me up and she also acknowledged my status and and apologized for the inconvenience and that was all i really wanted was for someone or anyone to apologize for inconveniencing me. I don’t think I’ll be giving the aloft another shot at all. Too much happened on my 1st stay. Sorry aloft Read less

When we checked in, there was only one valet at this busy city hotel. We had to wait 15 minutes on the street until he could get to us. He was also the only bellhop. He asked if we wanted our luggage carried up to our room. We said yes. Twenty minutes later when no luggage arrived, we found our luggage on a cart and took it up ourselves. It wasn't his fault; he was doing the best he could. But there were not enough people to do his job(s). At the bar there were no two seats together because people's old abandoned drinks were still sitting at the bar. The lone bartender seemed unconcerned, so we sat on the couch next to the bar, where we were never waited on. We went elsewhere for a drink. At seven in the morning my husband waited (a long time, of course) for the valet to bring the car and was treated to a man urinating next to the valet's desk. The hotel seemed unconcerned. In the room there was only one caffeinated coffee pod, which my husband gave to me in the morning, and when we returned to the room that evening, there was still only one. Perhaps they were rationing them. The thermostat in the room wasn't working, and the room stayed consistently above 73 degrees, even though the thermostat was set of 70. It never got really cool in the room. In New Orleans, this is an issue. Marriott, if your business model for this hotel chain is "lean and mean," you've nailed it. Read less

The faucet was partially broken in our room. I mentioned it in the survey I filled out during the 2nd day of our stay. I was planning on bringing it up when we left for the evening, but within 10 min of filling out the review someone was at our door to fix it!! So refreshing to know that someone reads those. Great stay; no complaints!

Great location on the edge of the French Quarter, making it a short walk to Bourbon Street, but you're away from the noise and chaos. Rooms are very small, but very well designed. The hotel is rather dark, but is also rather hip. There is a small rooftop pool, and a fitness center. A lobby bar seemed to attract a small, regular crowd.
