The hotel

Enjoy Louisiana hospitality at its finest at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter, a hotel located right in the beating heart of New Orleans. Guest rooms ensure a comfortable base from which to explore the myriad delights this city has to offer, and there’s a state-of-the-art gym as well as an outdoor swimming pool, perfect for cooling off in if you’re visiting in warm weather. The real jewel in the crown at this hotel though is Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House and Beyond. You’ve plenty of wonderful restaurants in the nearby vicinity but Dickie’s is not to be missed. Enjoy a rich array of tantalising Creole specialities, including freshly caught seafood, BBQ shrimp, thick steaks and decadent deserts. And rest assured, if it’s not in season, it’s not on the menu! Oysters are a house speciality, order a dozen at the bar whilst listening to the City’s best shuckers. It’s also a grand spot for a bit of ‘people watching’ with picture windows overlooking the action of Bourbon Street – fun you won’t be able to resist joining in with once dinner’s finished!

Stayed for a conference. Rude and dismissive staff. No one wore a name tag. Was given three different rooms because the first two room I was sent to had someone already in them. Though, I didn’t know it until I opened the door and was confronted by angry vacationers.

I can't verify what an actual stay in this hotel would be like, because the hotel stole my money and refused to make it right! I booked this through a third party vendor as RESERVE NOW/PAY AT HOTEL. The next day I was charged for my stay. Third party vendor confirmed that it was RESERVE NOW/PAY AT HOTEL and that I would have to go directly through hotel to resolve. Hotel verified that I was in fact paid in full. When I told them that wasn't supposed to happen I was told "look at the bright side, you don't owe anymore money when you get here". I asked about the cancellation policy I was informed it was refundable up until March 17th (this was on 2/15). I told her to cancel my reservation. She told me since it was booked through a third party it would need to be canceled through them. I immediately canceled reservation and waited for the refund to be processed, and waited, and waited, and I'm still waiting. When I called the hotel directly I was now told that it was a non-refundable, advanced purchase reservation and I was not entitled to a refund. 100% incorrect information on their part! Third party can't refund me because it was the hotel who stole my almost $800! I believe that this reservation was altered by the hotel to show wrong type of reservation was booked. Read less

Unfortunately he left his wallet behind and didn’t realize until returning back to Mississippi. We are very grateful of Cotina in the hotel Security Department for her assistance in both locating his wallet and assisting with shipping it back to our son. Cotina saved us a lot of time and hassle had she not located his wallet. We really appreciate you Cotina and your commitment to hotel guests!! Read less

After booking this hotel through Air Canada vacations for my sisters bachelorette party, I started reading reviews and became super concerned we’d made a HUGE mistake. Many reviews painted the Astor Crowne Plaza as a dark, dingy prison with so much noise it basically amounted to torture. When we checked into our room, we were pleasantly greeted by a bright room with high ceilings, spotlessly clean, and it even included a mini fridge (unexpected bonus). We had no issues with noise, but our visit was from Sunday night to Thursday so take with a grain of salt, as New Orleans seems to be always busy. You also cannot beat the location - we literally were less than 5 minutes walk from all the major attractions in the French quarter. If I come to New Orleans again (which we hope to do) I would happily stay in this hotel again. I suspect many of the negative reviews are from people who hate joy or find faults in every hotel they’ve ever stayed in. My only complaint is that we went to the restaurant attached to the hotel for breakfast and was pretty disappointed with the quality / selection. There are so many great restaurants nearby - don’t waste your money here. Read less
