The hotel

Enjoy Louisiana hospitality at its finest at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter, a hotel located right in the beating heart of New Orleans. Guest rooms ensure a comfortable base from which to explore the myriad delights this city has to offer, and there’s a state-of-the-art gym as well as an outdoor swimming pool, perfect for cooling off in if you’re visiting in warm weather. The real jewel in the crown at this hotel though is Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House and Beyond. You’ve plenty of wonderful restaurants in the nearby vicinity but Dickie’s is not to be missed. Enjoy a rich array of tantalising Creole specialities, including freshly caught seafood, BBQ shrimp, thick steaks and decadent deserts. And rest assured, if it’s not in season, it’s not on the menu! Oysters are a house speciality, order a dozen at the bar whilst listening to the City’s best shuckers. It’s also a grand spot for a bit of ‘people watching’ with picture windows overlooking the action of Bourbon Street – fun you won’t be able to resist joining in with once dinner’s finished!

The Astor is a lovely property well located in New Orleans and the staff and especially the banquet staff are so wonderful to work with and very accomodating. Byron Cerrre is a consummate professional. Gracious, welcoming and a wam host and will work to ensure a wonderful event/meeting.

First, I will own the fact that I made a mistake booking this hotel. But I searched and read reviews of dozens of hotels before booking my trip to New Orleans. I was traveling solo, coming for medical appointments and some sightseeing. This was my first ever trip to New Orleans. So if this is your first time, let me be clear: this hotel is great for going out on Bourbon St and in the Quarter. If you're young and just want to go out and don't care much about the hotel accommodations, this is the hotel for you. If you're coming for a romantic trip, with your family, or as a solo traveler who may need to work remotely, this is not the hotel I recommend for you. The hotel says they have valet parking. If you (accidentally!) arrive on a Saturday night when there's a major event on the city, near the French Quarter, a lot of streets will be closed and you won't be able to get to Canal Street, where the valet stand is. I drove around for three hours, waiting for the streets to open up so I could get close enough to the hotel. When I arrived, there were three layers of cars double/triple parked on the street in front of the hotel. There were tons of people standing in the street near the cars, just hanging out. When the valet finally came over to my car, he said valet was full. He said if I paid him $45 in cash, he would park my car for me. But that usually they drive guests to and from the hotel with a golf cart, but that was broken. So he suggested I drive to the parking garage and park myself. The garage is about 3 blocks from the hotel. I parked and walked back to the hotel. When I arrived back at the hotel, there were people gathered on the sidewalk, blocking the hotel entry. There were police and security in front. When I checked in, the front desk staff gave me a wristband and told me I had to wear it at all times on Saturday night or I wouldn't be allowed in. There were people sitting in the lobby drunk. I made it to my room, which had no swinging lock, only the regular handle deadbolt. On the bed was a card that said earplugs were provided due to noise from Bourbon St. There were no earplugs. There are no fridges in the room. There was duct tape on the floor between the bathroom and hallway. The carpet was not clean; it had multiple stains. The room had a musty smell like there's been water damage. There was no booklet with any information about ordering room service. When my room was cleaned, they took the floor mat for the shower and did not leave a new one or any new hand towels. They did not leave more eye makeup remover packets like there were on arrival. There's no lotion or anything and the hand soap is very drying. The shampoo and conditioner in the shower were like hand soap and my hair was a mess (I forgot mine). The best thing was that the next morning, Sunday, the hotel seemed to clear out and was never as noisy as it was on Saturday. I went out the next morning and walked to the parking garage. I only paid $20 for the same parking garage that the hotel staff wanted me to pay $45 for valet. You can see the cars parked by valet when you're in there. The garage is fine but it's a bit far from the hotel if you have bags or it's rainy. I moved the car to a garage that's closer to the hotel and it was much better. None of the staff at the hotel were friendly, but I'm sure they have a stressful job when people are gathered around going out in the Quarter. Anyway, if you're going to NOLA and don't plan to just party in the Quarter, stay elsewhere. I'm not sure how it's still listed as a Crowne Plaza or 4 star hotel, because it's not! Read less

So disappointed! The lobby is beautiful and speaks to what you think the rooms should be. The room is a dump. Bed hard as a rock. A sheet and one little light weight cheap blanket. Tiny TV in a corner. I called the front desk on the old old crackly telephone and asked if there was a better room and was hung up on. Iwill never stay here again and… Read more

I actually wrote this review when we first checked in and felt it was even worse after our stay, so rewriting it now. This hotel has very friendly staff, but the actual hotel really has an odd odour in the hallway. Our room is not clean and our faucet doesn’t work in the bathroom, it doesn’t drain. The rest of the room feels and looks fine. Just the actual amenities and cleanliness are not worth the price tag associated with this room.
The location is what increases the price, but nonetheless, I thought these hotels held up to a certain standard. There’s no fridge, there was urine around/on the toilet, the bathtub looks as though it needed replacing 10 years ago. The carpet is rising up in the hallway. The cleaning staff left a vacuum and a dirty glove on the floor for two days in our hallway outside our door. This hotel would be overpriced at $50/night let alone what they charge. I am genuinely disgusted. Read less

This hotel has the best location ever! We had a blast on Bourbon Street! Shout out to Byron, Ben, and Caleb for taking care of us when our safe and toilet wasn't working. They came through and took care of us. I will definitely be back here.
