The history of the Royal Sonesta New Orleans is perfection for Bourbon Street and beyond! We walked most everywhere and this was perfect. Could use a bit of a makeover in some rooms and elevators but overall great. Loved the charm and proximity.

However, they need to tell people who are staying in rooms on bourbon street that you will not be able to sleep. I had them send up earplugs, and turned on two white noise apps (one of ipad and one on phone) and could STILL hear the music etc. It didn't stop till 5am and everyone else who had a room on B-street had same experience. So, if you plan to sleep, you need to ask for a different room. (They did move me the next night and it was blissfully quiet and I didn't even care that it had zero natural light.) Read less

Centrally located near great restaurants and attractions. The hotel reception is nice. Room also but for a 4 star hotel, outside windows needs to be cleaned. Maybe they're going for another look. Not too sure. Bath tub grout needs to be cleaned. Just need Clorox which most hotels need. Just a drop and it does wonders. The silicone needs to be… Read more

Would've given it a 5 star if the advice was up to par. Read less

Very noisy. Do not stay here if you want to sleep. Our room was right on Bourbon street and when we asked to be moved to a room on the other side, we were given another room right on Bourbon. We moved to the Roosevelt across canal, for less money, more room with better amenities and more quiet. The Sonesta’s rooms are small and dated. They did… Read more

We moved to the Roosevelt across canal, for less money, more room with better amenities and more quiet. The Sonesta’s rooms are small and dated. They did allow us to check out without penalty. But here is the worst part...their online reservation link is not secure. My credit card was stolen from their site and fraudulent charges placed. If they can’t have secure online reservations, I can assume the rest of the hotel is likewise poorly managed. Read less

Love the location and hotel. Right in the center and easy to get wherever you need to go if you want to walk. Staff are helpful and friendly. Jazz nightly is a plus and Desire Oyster Bar food is great, I go there every trip to New Orleans. Recommend the R Club experience, worth the extra and staff are welcoming.
