Visiting during the double punch of Covid-19 and a hurricane that displaced families- our review is a bit different. We loved this hotel overall- staff was nice and friendly and our room was not only warm and cozy but it was anything but cookie cutter. It had all the charm of the unique building the hotel occupies and was clean and bright. We booked a King/balcony with a AAA special. so a real bargain. We knew when we booked Covid would affect our stay, wasn't planning on 2 hurricanes hitting the week before though. The lobby went from warm and welcoming to hub central for DCFS to place families. We totally understood and it's wonderful that the social workers worked so hard to find rooms for those who lost their homes. Didn't make for quite the romantic anniversary stay we were hoping for- but it's 2020. The downside was we were never able to get fresh towels the 3 days we were there and the staff became very involved with other projects. Which. again, is totally understandable. There was also filming for a TV series next door at the beautiful, old board of trade building, which was quite interesting. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We loved the location, could walk to so many places and both the green and red trolley's were nearby. We walked to Harrah's and the WWII museums . Always felt safe This hotel has a great location and charm and we would stay here again in a heartbeat Read less

Noisy bathroom plumbing kept waking me up in the middle of the night. Parking is expensive. The smell of pot wafted through the hallway both nights of my stay. No visible security personnel made me feel unsafe. The front desk staff never looked up when guests would walk into the hotel.

Do not stay here unless you want excellent customer service. Vicky Powell, and her team, go above and beyond to make their guests feel at home and valued. Even with some minor maintenance issues (the team had recently re-opened the back building) we were thrilled with our experience. The knowledge and caring of the team here was simply amazing; everyone has a sense of urgency to help the hotel guests. We were in town for a wedding and once our other family members saw the hotel they moved from the hotel where they were staying. We had three rooms connected by our own private courtyard which was perfect. Vicky would you consider naming the courtyard after our family? Read less

We arrived early evening to New Orleans and found this hotel on Tripadvisor. The check-in agent was beyond wonderful. He was gracious, smiling, gave his full attention to us, and made us feel truly welcome. The hotel is historic with classic architecture. The decor was beautiful with stone and marble, sitting room with antebellum appeal. It was a treat for the visual senses. The room was classic with tall ceilings and tall windows with rod-iron balcony. The bathroom was newly renovated with new tile shower, and lots of room to move around. There was a frig and Keurig coffee maker. The beds were perfect with lots of pillows. The owner gave us a tour of the hotel showing us the outside fountain and pool and the new addition of rooms which should be opening in the Fall. The atmosphere of the place made you want to just stay there and never leave. It was its own little world. HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here. Read less
