We rolled into town to see the Stones on the heel of tropical storm Barry. Concert was delayed a day, the hotel mgt was very accommodating in our change of plans. Kantrell was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. John the manager was professional in every way. This is our 3rd time staying at the St James a great hotel in the New Orleans tradition.

Kentrell at the front desk was helpful and efficient, and a maintenance man was also quick and kind. But there were other, significant problems, which is why the rating is low. 1. On 2 days I woke to no hot water. When I informed the front desk, no apology for the inconvenience was offered. They just said they would let maintenance know (maintenance man made sure it was fixed and apologized). 2. When I asked about a hotel plan for guests during the potential hurricane or flood, the front desk staff member I talked to couldn't tell me anything. Other hotels had plans for snacks, water, flashlights. 3. A huge bag of dirty towels was left in the hallway over night. 4. A lightbulb near the elevator flashed for two days before it was changed. 5. I received a thank you for staying message two days before I checked out. More attention to guests and details needs to be given. Read less

This is great hotel centrally located to shopping, restaurants, bars and even Canal and Bourbon St. the breakfast small but good. And the front desk staff is the best. Kentrell is awesome. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone. And if you are a history buff like me you appreciate the the character of the facade of the hospital.

I highly recommend this hotel..all of the staff but particularly Donnie, Kentrell and Bob were exceptional. The hotel is beautiful and in an ideal location to the French Quarter. You won't be dissapointed!
