We really enjoyed the location and the communal areas. The floor in the room had some kind of residue and really needed to be cleaned - very unpleasant to walk on. We asked to get the room floor cleaned while we were out but it didn't really make a difference. The beds were decent, but not the best. Everything else was clean and we appreciate the hotel making to-go bags for breakfast even though they are struggling in this tough time. If you stay here, I highly recommend a bar / coffee shop up the street called Fourth Wall Coffee / Duke's. You'll love it, trust me. Read less

Really nice check in process with Aaron despite our early arrival. While we waiting for our room to be ready they recommended some excellent food nearby. By the time we were done the room was ready. Lovely experience at a lovely property. Just need to spot check the laundry services more.

I stayed at St. James Hotel for a long weekend trip with friends. This looked super cozy and well kempt online. The lobby upon entry is beautiful and check-in was easy. The hotel is within walking distance to so many places. We came back and forth throughout the days as needed. However this hotel was definitely lacking some details... Our beds did not have any blankets when we entered, it was sheets only. We had to call the front desk and go pick them up. There was an iron but no ironing board. I had to iron on a towel in the bathroom. There were a few fruit flies on the day we got there and after 3 days they had multiplied. It was clean but not overly exceptional. There was beautiful floor to ceiling doors from our room to the pool area. This was closed due to covid but we were able to see it and it is nicely lit in colors at night. Would be a good place to relax and enjoy a cocktail. Attached to the hotel is the Chophouse which we ordered from one evening. It was a 2 hour wait to sit but they do deliver to your room. Food was good - fairly pricey. Overall, the hotel did its job and wasn’t dirty my any means. The little details make a stay and I would say that I would consider it again but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Read less

This was my first time staying at the St. James Hotel. I had a King room for a week. Unfortunately, it was one of the older rooms that hadn't been renovated yet. This was my first time staying at the St. James Hotel. I had a King room for a week. Unfortunately, it was one of the older rooms that hadn't been renovated yet. There was bad caulking all over the bathroom, the safe didn't work & the TV didn't work well. I probably should have requested a different room right from the start, but didn't think about it at the time. On the plus side, the bed was really comfortable & I particularly liked the pillows. The public areas of the hotel have been well maintained; very pretty & relaxing. The location is a convenient 10 minute walk (or less, depending on how quickly you walk) to the French Quarter. The Chophouse is right next door, Majoria's Commerce is about a block away & Ruby Slipper is also a block away. There is someone at reception 24 hours a day. Frank, Aaron & the guy with the ponytail (sorry, but didn't get his name) were wonderful. Frank & I had a long, interesting conversation one evening while I was waiting for a friend to arrive. I also had something to mail one morning. When I asked where the closest mailbox was, he personally took it & mailed it right then. Aaron answered any questions I had in regards to the streetcars, etc. As for the guy with the ponytail, he was kind enough to scrounge up another iron & ironing board for me around midnight, which he delivered straight to my room. (The ironing board in my room wouldn't stand up & the iron was leaving little marks on my clothes.) My rating is based mainly on the great staff. I would probably stay again, but it would have to be in a newly renovated room. Read less

Vickie and Aaron made a stay that could have been bad actually an enjoyable event. The night of our stay a category 2 hurricane directly hit New Orleans. The staff were friendly and very assisting to us and the other guests. If I had to post a negative it would be that the rooms floor was sticky/dirty. Nonetheless, I highly recommend the St.… Read more
