I wanted to love Virgin New Orleans. We have family in New Orleans, have visited often in the past and will be visiting several times a year going forward, and still haven't found a perfect hotel for us. Virgin wasn't it. The positives: The location is great, maybe a 20-minute walk to Jackson Square and 10 minutes to restaurants of the Warehouse District. The hotel is nice. The rooms are nice. We slept well. The restaurant was good and we appreciated it being open when we arrived after 6 our first day and didn’t feel like leaving the hotel. I would have loved a Nespresso option in the room, or a free coffee cart in the lobby. But the coffee place in the lobby was fine. The negatives: The fees add up. We had two rooms for four nights, so we paid $250+ for the amenity fees and taxes on the amenity fees. I have no idea what we got for that? When I look for a description of the amenity fee on the hotel’s website, I’m unable to find one. It definitely didn’t include parking, since parking was another $51/day, plus $25 for taxes on the parking fees, plus tips. We weren’t able to use the pool or visit the pool deck. It doesn’t open until 10am. When I asked if there was any way to watch the sunrise from there, I was told no. We were gone every day before 10, and then at night our teens weren’t allowed up there. The one day that it would have worked to visit the pool, Thanksgiving, the rooftop was closed all day. The minibars were annoying. With New Orleans’ amazing restaurants, we wanted to bring leftovers back to our rooms, but the refrigerators were full of mini-bar items. I would have loved the option, at booking, to have empty refrigerators instead. Would love to find a hotel in New Orleans that doesn’t charge crazy fees (on multiple rooms) just because they can or an arm and a leg for parking, with usable refrigerators, and if there’s a spot with a view, open it up for sunrise! Will keep looking. Read less

Nice hotel and nice people. It was convenient having a bar but I only wish it opened earlier than 5pm and I wish the food selection was better - it was very limited and not that tasty. As a culinary trained chef, I felt it was definitely lacking.

Highly recommend staying here. Would definitely stay again. Read less
