Nicest resort i've ever stayed at, in the most beautiful location i've ever seen. Resort staff were amazing. Loved every minute of it. Only negative would be "resort fees" that only show in the fine print.

We were fortunate to successfully bid for a week at a charity auction. We arrived after a long flight from Detroit through Seattle, to find a luxurious room, attentive service, and a gorgeous partial ocean view from the balcony. Immediately comfortable! Explored and found a small dinner location with small plates, good drinks, and pleasant views and service, which we took advantage of several nights. All restaurants were superb, the grounds and beach were immaculately maintained, the concierge service was friendly and extremely helpful. The week flew by with not a single misstep. We departed, reluctantly but refreshed and ready to return to reality. Whether vacation, special event (we treated the week as my wife's birthday as did the resort), or family reunion, this is a special place to which we hope to return. Read less

Our 5th visit to this hotel, second with grandkids. Still a lot to like about this place but it is starting to get a bit tired and worn. We felt that the hotel has slipped a bit in cleanliness and overall value, not a huge step down but we did notice it. The hotel really struggles when peak time is around, loungers around pools fill up and they still have those infuriating rental cabana's that take up most of the space. Also be ready for a long wait at breakfast. We avoid booking during the times when the resort is busy. A hint when bad weather comes in is to make sure you book dinner at one of the local places that is indoors. When the wind and rain comes the Wailea resorts cancel most of their restaurant bookings and room service is where you usually end up. The best part of the stay is the beach and beach loungers/umbrellas, just make sure you get down early enough to get one set up by the great beach staff. Overall it is a great place and we will likely be back for our 6th visit. Read less

We were greeted with leis and refreshments which just put us right in vacation mode! It was our first visit to Maui and this hotel was the best I’ve ever stayed in - and I travel a lot! Special kudos to Luz, the lovely woman at the front desk who checked us in and helped us get our bearings - she was polite, warm, and made sure we were more than satisfied. When we asked her about dining options outside, she even considered that my two little ones might be chilly outside and grabbed us some extra towels to wrap up in, knowing that it would be a walk back to our room to get warmer clothes. She was extremely kind and made us feel right at home! I’m so happy we stayed here and can’t wait to come back very soon! Read less

My husband, infant son and I stayed at the Fairmont for a week in February. This is definitely a family friendly hotel and there were a ton of families with kids of all ages. The size of the rooms plays a large part in why the hotel is attractive to families, but if you are not looking for extra space in the room, you should look elsewhere for a hotel. Fairmont doesn’t seem to put any effort into maintaining this property. The rooms and hallways are very outdated and run down. Walls are scuffed up, carpets are faded, and generally other parts around the room look like they haven’t been replaced or refreshed. The mini fridge functioned more like a cooler, rather than a true fridge (barely kept things cold). I’ve stayed in lower class hotels with a fresher look and better appliances. This is not at all what you’d expect from a Fairmont. The service was fine, the beds were comfortable, the shower and the breakfast buffet were great and the location was phenomenal (great views, proximity to path running alongside the beach, high end shops and top notch restaurants). We parked our car on property (self park) and didn’t have any problems finding a spot or having room in the parking spot. I suggest parking on the second level of the garage as there is more room. Also, I suggest signing up for the free outrigger canoe experience (sign up early). It was a fun way to spend an hour and was complimentary to guests. We are unlikely to stay in this hotel again unless/until Fairmont goes through extensive renovations. Read less
