Valet parking option or a reasonable self park rate with 2 lots. - The room was fantastic and we got the most basic room when we booked it, too. Clean, well laid out. - The grounds of the hotel were AMAZING through and through. The kids area was fun. - Beach access was SO EASY. Footsteps away, and not very crowded. Even at the $1000+ hotels on Wailea, the beach is far more crowded. - The pools were clean and sizable. Service from everyone was top notch. Housekeeping always came on time and did a great job. We didn't have to bother people for towels since they have a 24x7 towel caddy, opened by your room key. I could go on and on, but the point is - the resort is fantastic top to bottom. I am shocked the Tripadvisor rating is 4.0 and not 4.5 or 5 to be honest. We enjoyed our stay here more than the most expensive hotels on the island where we stayed before too. Read less

Although the beach is undergoing revitalization, we still thoroughly enjoyed it. The snorkeling at the resort is great. We saw quite a few different fish as well as coral and plenty of turtles. The hotel has complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas you can check out. We ate breakfast and most dinners in the regency club. The cold coconut oatmeal was my favorite every morning. Alcohol is not included in the club but they do offer sode fountain soft drinks, juice, milk & coffee. One of our favorite parts of the resort were the onsite penguins and parrots. They were very entertaining. We also were able to see whales swim buy even tho we were there at the end of whale season (April). This resort is in walking distance to Whaler's Village which is a great place to shop & eat. Read less

We unhooked the phone and brought it to front desk and they told my wife that we didn't charge it correctly?? Seriously? Restaurant food was below average for Hyatt. I've stayed at multiple Hyatt hotels and resorts and this was my worst experience. I am informing the medical conference to look for a different site since I will not return. Never again. Read less

Came April 4-8 and after spending way too many hours reading about the pool situation, if the grotto bar was going to still be closed, about the waterslides being closed, about all the construction, I almost decided to opt for the Hyatt Kauai instead. But we didn’t, came to Maui and had a fabulous time. But for those of you (like me) all stressed out by what’s going on with the pool situation, this review is for you. Plus I added super helpful pics to explain. Pools: there are 2 pools on the main property + 3rd next door at the Hyatt residences you can use. We did that one only once. As for the two here, the main one is just large. Great for typical pool fun. No slides here though. The second pool was our favorite by a long shot. The design is set amidst rocks, has a fantastic little kid area and big kid/adult area, waterfall you can go in (small) and a small slide and large tube slide. The two pools USED to be connected via the swim thru grotto bar but that’s not the case any longer. To go from the main pool to the 2nd, you gotta walk around the pathway along the ocean. It’s not far, but the whole time you’re wondering two things: 1) how cool it would be if they had the grotto bar open and you could swim thru; and 2) why in the world to they have the shorter pathway closer near the main hotel - this one connects the pools with a short walk thru foliage and then across a suspension bridge. Super cool but they have it roped off due to construction, which is fine if there was construction going on in that area. But I didn’t see any signs of it, so it was sad they didn’t just open this route up. I have a pic explaining this. 2) Grotto bar: it’s closed. It’s been closed. It isn’t going to reopen anytime soon. From what I learned, this grotto bar used to have waterfalls on each side you would swim under. Amazing. I also understand it’s been the signature attraction of the hotel for decades. Like 40 years. But they had to shut it down. I don’t know why but best I understood is to repair the structure. I was so hopeful it would be open by the time we came in April but after looking at the construction, it’s faaaaaaaarrrr from being done. Sorry all. You’ll be fine though, don’t cancel because of this. I will say to Hyatt - you MUST being the grotto back! Please don’t shut it forever. Also please open the shorter pathway to the bridge! 3) Waterslides: they are not shut down. I understand the larger tube slide was for a bit to repair it, but it’s been open for about a month now. All good. 4) Construction: no biggie. We came over a weekend and they don’t work weekends so it was chill. Didn’t really phase us. Otherwise we had a great vacay here and would recommend. The staff was great too and appreciative of guests coming especially after the fire. Thanks for a good trip Hyatt! OPEN THE GROTTO! OPEN THE SHORT PATHWAY!! BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, please please please bring back the grotto!! Read less

We had an excellent stay at the Hyatt. We had a suite overlooking the ocean and woke up with the sound of the waves. Fantastic! The pool was great for our 2 kids (11 and 13 years old) and we enjoyed the walk in the evening next to the ocean when the sun went down. The kids also enjoyed the lounge which provided lots of opportunities during the day to grab a cookie! After the Hyatt we also went for 3 days to the Andaz Wailea, but we preferred the Hyatt; it's more laid back, and the rooms and the pool is nicer! Read less
