Great hotel a classic, nice water slide me and kids had loads of fun. They have one of the best sushi restaurants on the island. I highly recommend this place great family spot, amazing mai tai, the pool side bar is very cool.

I would not recommend this hotel. My car was vandalized in the parking lot and they did not care. I have a feeling this happens often. Not even an apology. Removed parking fees but refused to offer further assistance. Filed an incident report with their security guy and then he stated he couldn’t file an incident report. Guest services… Read more

Removed parking fees but refused to offer further assistance. Filed an incident report with their security guy and then he stated he couldn’t file an incident report. Guest services manager stated no camera in parking lot parking area (only at gate). Further, the rooms are way outdated, the lobby is outdated, and it generally feels worn and tired. A lot of beautiful resorts in Maui - don’t waste your money on this one. Read less

As a Hyatt Explorist member, I had an excellent time at this resort. While the rooms are outdated as mentioned, the staff was excellent and I was treated very well. The staff did their best to upgrade my rooms, and every member of the staff I ran into was very friendly. Valet services were excellent as well/ Some things I didn't particularly… Read more

The staff did their best to upgrade my rooms, and every member of the staff I ran into was very friendly. Valet services were excellent as well/ Some things I didn't particularly enjoy but was minor to me: restaurants are overpriced to me for what you get. I ended up eating off the property most of the time. Whaler's Village was an excellent option close by, as well as venturing to Lahaina. Black Rock is probably the best part of the beach, so it was a little painful to make the trek there to snorkel, but the beach in front of the hotel was pretty nice on a clear day(although rocky). Very disappointed. The first room we were given wasn’t clean - bath not clean, tops of units and tables had not been wiped and the balcony was disgusting with shoes sticking to the floor! Very disappointed. The first room we were given wasn’t clean - bath not clean, tops of units and tables had not been wiped and the balcony was disgusting with shoes sticking to the floor! We were given a different room, but even then we had to request to have the tops of the units and table cleaned as they obviously hadn’t been wiped down. The size of our room 2123 was great and the view was fantastic but the rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment - very dated, carpets fraying, wallpaper bubbling off wall and back of curtains dirty - not worth the $600 plus dollars we paid. We were told a refurbishment program is due to start in September and it can’t come quickly enough. The public walkways to the room were filthy. Despite mentioning this on four occasions it was not swept or cleaned in the 10 days we were there. I got the impression the hotel was struggling with staff numbers especially after speaking to House Keeping manager who promised to try and get it sorted! We were given an upgrade to the Regency Club which was appreciated (and this area was lovely and food was great) but I wouldn’t pay the $75 per person it would have cost if we’d booked it and would have preferred not have had the issues we had at checkin in the first instance. And to add to everything we got locked out of our room for 2 hours at 10:30pm one night which resulted in security and the engineer having to drill out the lock so we could access our room. Our overall experience was disappointing and if we could have moved hotel (which wasn’t an option as it was Indepence Day when we visited) we would have. The hotel could be amazing with it’s location, gardens and pool, but much work is needed to update the rooms and to improve the overall cleanliness of the hotel. Definitely not worth the money or it’s current star rating. Read less

Where do I begin... Anyone looking for a Maui Resort, look the other way. Seriously. It’s recommended you get a rental car to get yourself around the island. What isn’t made clear is that not only do you need to pay a Resort fee (daily), but you also need to pay a separate parking fee. Once you check in after your long travel day, you’ll be greeted with a Lei and will be directed to your room. You’ll never be made aware of the 600$ hold on your card for ‘incidentals’, nor will you even know they’re charging you upfront for every day of Resort and parking fees....you’ll just see them on your statement when you casually check while on vacation. I want to reiterate that once more; you will never be notified of charges on your card until you check out. I experienced it first hand, and was at the front desk as others checked in. No one was notified. It is the most shady business I’ve ever experienced. Also, don’t eat before going into the bathroom..seriously. You’ll need all the spare room as possible to get between the door and the toilet just to close the door. Not kidding, there’s about 2 inches between the seat and the door when it’s opening. Talk about paradise! Even more so, when you chat with the front desk and voice your concerns over charges being put on your account that you weren’t aware of, they’ll clearly tell you “that’s just how it is”! No apology, no emotion. Lovely. One more thing - beach goers- the pool is free, and the staff will point you that way. What they don’t tell you is that is so crowded, you’ll never get a free inch of space. Dare to go to the beach, and you’ll be hit with charges just to get a chair or umbrella. Even though it’s a beachfront Resort, nothing for the beach is included. Makes a lot of sense, I know. Heads up to any honeymooners, avoid the Hyatt Regency in Maui at all costs. Their facilities are mobbed, not well kept, and their staff are not nice. Save your money and go elsewhere. Read less
