We moved from the Hyatt Regency to here as the Hyatt was terrible. The Wailea Beach was perfect in every way. The staff were all fantastic; a big Hawaiian welcome when you arrive complete with the lovely fresh flower garland. Room was ready and cases swiftly delivered. Weather all year is warm so a great place to chill. The restaurants and bars offer swift but attentive service that’s not rushed. Cocktails are excellent and they offer a pool service. You get free drink vouchers upon arrival. The reception staff gave a thorough run down on what’s at the hotel so it’s easy to find things. The whole hotel is spotless, nothing is too much trouble. Water stations are throughout the hotel to encourage hydration. Bottled water is free. There is a spa but we didn’t use it. The hotel caters for all age groups. You will never go hungry here portion sizes are huge bit delicious..... for kids there is a huge slide and you can doing snorkelling, paddle boarding etc. There was a brush fire which closed a lot of roads in the surrounding area. The smoke was everywhere despite the fire being miles away. The hotel staff were brilliant keeping guests up to date, notes under the room door explaining what’s happening and not to leave the resort as neighbourhoods were being evacuated and the hotel were very quick to react and assure guests. The restaurants stayed open despite many staff living in the areas where the brush fire was they all acted really professionally....... The setting is beautiful, strong dramatic waves zip along the coast line and there is a lovely walk along the coast line passing other hotels and its popular early morning. Sunsets are lovely and will the right camera you will get some fantastic shots. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel it was just what we expected and more. Thank you Wailea Beach what a great stay..... Read less

Just completed a seven-day anniversary stay with the entire family at the resort. I'll save my one negative about the trip for the end. The property is beautiful. There are a number of different pools, including an adult-only pool, on the property. My kids loved the two water slides. There was rarely more than five people in line to go down them. There's also a free game room with a pool table, basketball, shuffleboard and some old-school video games in there. There's a free theater room with popcorn and drinks for nights you just want to relax with the family. As far as location goes, there's an outdoor mall with plenty of restaurants and shops that's a very, very short five minute walk away from the resort. There are a couple of food trucks on property to go with the restaurants there. The fitness center was very nice The only negative out of the trip is that I booked an ocean view room with a balcony using points along with the $100 a day upgrade fee. We arrived and our room was on the ground level with very limited ocean view. I wasn't expecting that, especially as a Titanium member. I was told that room wouldn't be available during my story. Upset doesn't come close to how I was feeling. I talked to Zellie (one of the top-three Marriott workers I've dealt with in my nearly 20 years of being a Marriott member) at the front desk the following morning. She told me that they would not charge me the $100 daily room upgrade charge and she then went out of her way to make sure there wasn't anything else I needed. She gets 5 stars in my book. I would have been doing a disservice to other guests, though, had I not notified Marriott about the unfortunate room situation. I called the 800 number to voice my issues - while also praising Zellie's incredible customer service work. They contacted the hotel and the manager personally called me to apologize about what happened. That type of customer service goes a long way with him, especially since I've stayed at Marriott properties more than 1,600 nights. I would have given the Wailea Beach Resort a perfect 5.0 if not for the room mishap. Will I stay there again if we decide to go back to Maui? ABSOLUTELY Read less

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. When we got to the room, we noticed that the AC wasn't working, and there was a small stain on the sheets which was clearly blood. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. When we got to the room, we noticed that the AC wasn't working, and there was a small stain on the sheets which was clearly blood. We called the front desk and they sent up maintenance to fix the AC and a cleaning crew to change the sheets. So we spent the first hour and a half of our honeymoon awkwardly sitting on our balcony (which overlooked a loading dock) waiting for our room to be ready. We expected a follow-up call from somebody confirming that these issues had been resolved, but there was nothing. The next day, we headed to our $350/ day "private cabana". Unfortunately, the cabanas at the adult pool are not at all private. There were people sitting all around the edge (the cabana sticks out into the pool) drinking and talking loudly. No staff made any effort to ask them to leave. At one point there were a group of locals bragging about 'sneaking' into the pool area sitting right next to me in our 'private' cabana. Additionally, the walls are extremely thin in the rooms. We live in NYC and are used to traffic and people noise at night but had to buy earplugs after the first night here. I do not recommend staying here at all. It is very Instagrammable and if that's your thing, just stay elsewhere and walk onto the property to take photos. We were extremely disappointed in the condition of this property and the staff. We are planning to do a honeymoon "do-over" elsewhere in Wailea next year since this was such a horrible experience. The many reviews that praise the staff are correct. Everyone is helpful and the hotel is beautiful. Our room had a partial ocean view which was amazing. There was a table to sit outside and how breakfast. Awesome that there is a Starbucks onsite. Gemma and our other house keeper did an excellent job. The pool with the slides was fun for families with younger children, mine are 11 and 14 and preferred the pool near the Kapa restaurant. Patsy was our server the first few days and she was fantastic. We ate at Kapa on night for dinner and it was good. The pool food options are good as well. Lots of drink choices and some healthy options too. My daughter and I walked each morning and the views were amazing. My husband went to the gym and liked it. He and my son also got help finding a nearby place to golf. They golfed three days and it was very close. We went to a fun luau our last night and that was worth it. Happy from Expedia booked that and it was easy. I would stay here again. Oh and there is a serenity pool for adults. That looked really nice! Thank you to all of the staff at this wonderful resort. Read less
