The hotel

This recently renovated hotel sits directly on a wide stretch of beach in the quiet, pretty resort of Wailea and is ideal for both families and couples. Kids will get a kick out of their own pool with its two water slides, while adults can kick back and sunbathe by their own pool, or relax in the hot tub. There's a Mandara Spa with a range of pampering treatments, or you can explore the surrounding countryside on foot along several hiking and nature trails. Enjoy a new signature restaurant for all-day dining, including a wonderful breakfast buffet and an informal poolside restaurant featuring nightly Hawaiian entertainment. The level of service was tremendous. Upon checking in, the team was able to get us into our room, assist us with a rollaway bed, and get us a reservation within an hour to a restaurant we wanted to go to. Everything looks clean and pretty modern/ updated. Staff are extremely friendly. The only disappointment are the rooms. We paid for an ocean view king bed room and were left unimpressed. The room is small. The decor is bland. The bathroom doesn’t have a tub to take a relaxing bath. The bed including pillows, sheets and bedding are not what you would expect at a $1200 a night hotel. I expected a plush, soft, cozy, inviting bed, but instead was left a bit disappointed. Just a very standard basic bed, one that you would find at a $200 hotel. We found a wet rag in the closet which the cleaning crew must have left behind. That wasn’t a huge deal, but at night the AC would make a rattling noise. All in all, I would say this is a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and prime location (5min walk to shops at Wailea), but if you wanted to spend time in your room, then you might want to reconsider. If you will enjoy beautiful Hawaii and not spend much time in your room then I would say this is a great hotel for you. Read less

Stayed for 8 days and had the best experience of all of our past trips. Beaches on the both sides of hotel are very good. Resort itself has 4 great pools. Amazing resort! Check in was one of the best we’ve experienced in Hawaii and set the tone for our stay. The resort is beautiful, and various different activities pools, shops, restaurants, open areas are spread out so you don’t feel crowded as you can at resorts like the Hyatt in Lahaina (pool was jam packed there!). There is a variety of pool options as well - fun family pool with great slides that the kids loved, adult infinity pool, and both family infinity and regular pools. Access to the beach is a little far compared to other resorts, but the walk is nice and never bothered us. There are a couple good spots to eat at the resort, but they are pricey. There are other options within walking or driving distance which are definitely worth it. The resort fee is not too bad but covers a lot of activities: outrigger canoe (well worth doing!), s’mores, etc. Great service throughout the resort which complimented everything else. Overall great place to stay - true Hawaiian experience without the super crowded feel! Read less

My husband and I traveled to Hawaii in July. Our first stop was Maui where we stayed at this property. We are Bonvoy members so we were only looking at Bonvody properties. The hotel is Beautiful. The rooms are in great shape. There is an adult-only pool that we highly recommend if you don't want to be disturbed by kids. There is a Starbucks on the property. There is a game room and kids' area for activities. There is direct access to the beach. There is a beach walkway that connected all of the hotels that are in Wailea so you can literally walk from one to the other. When we arrived our room wasn't ready, so they gave us access to a guest suite where you could change, shower, freshen up after traveling all day. We were able to take advantage of it and change into our bathing suits so that we could go and start enjoying the amenities. There are two restaurants that we frequented on property that were both good. It is within walking distance to the Wailea shopping center which we went to a few times both to shop and eat. We booked two excursions through the concierge which were great. One was ATV and one was Zip Line. You def need a rental car to take you to those excursions as they don't come with a shuttle or transportation. The only down side, was that we were put on the third floor of the tower. Our balcony overlooked the main lobby and it was very loud. It was the equivalent of being on the first floor. We went to the front desk so see if there was something that could be done and unfortunately they were fully booked. But Zena, who was working the front desk took care of us and they comped us a free cabana in the adult pool. It went a long way that they did that for us! Read less
