We were given little glasses of guava juice and beautiful leis on arrival, which almost made me tear up, I just wasn't expecting it and it was a lovely moment. We paid ahead of time to upgrade to an ocean front room, and I thought the extra cost was very reasonable. Oh my goodness, the view from our room was to die for. Waves crashing feet from our balcony. It was a dream come true. Comfy bed and pillows. The staff was wonderful and attentive. We were overwhelmed with the aloha spirit! And the Shops at Wailea were a short walk away, which was convenient. One odd thing, which was actually quite funny, but worth mentioning, the parking spaces in the self-park area of the parking garage were really, really tight. Once in the space, we could barely open the doors of the car on either side. We shared a good laugh with another couple also trying to park. I was sad checking out of the resort on the morning we had to fly home because I didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to go back! And we will be back! Read less

Family of 4 (kids 6 and 8) stayed here in November of 2023. We arrived Wed the week before Thanksgiving and left on Thanksgiving day. The few days before thanksgiving it was very crowded. Our first few days were lovely - not crowded, easy to get chairs, etc. We used points for our stay. Husband is Titanium with Marriott. Prior to arriving the concierge emailed us with upgrade options, all of which were pricy. We decided to roll the dice and just asked nicely for an upgrade at check in. It took some time while they figured it out, so be patient. We were upgraded to a 1 BDR suite with a table for dining. In retrospect, the standard room would have been very difficult for all of us for 8 nights so I’m very grateful for the upgrade. We requested a microwave and between that and the mini fridge (small) we were able to do breakfasts in the room and heat up restaurant leftovers. As elite members we were also given coupons for a free continental breakfast for 2 daily which included 2 coffees, 2 pastries, and 2 fruit cups daily from either Starbucks or Whales tale (beach bar). There was also chocolate every night. Things to note about the hotel: - beautiful grounds - very fun kids pool with 2 big water slides and a couple smaller ones - a few other quieter pools through out resort - game room where all the video games are free. - we were on north side of hotel and the walk to the beach was longer than expected. There’s a nice sidewalk path but it took a good 10 min to walk there. If you were on south side it would be a shorter walk. - limited beach chairs available. There’s a guy who will set them up for you, but be there by 8 am latest. - pool chairs were easy to find the first few days; as it got more crowded it was harder - resort has free activities you can sign up for including Hawaiian stamping, lei making, hula dancing etc. - you can walk to Shops at Wailea; an upscale outdoor mall with a few restaurants, ice cream, designer shops and a gourmet market that has grab and go as well as made to order food/meals. - as you would expect, drinks and food at the resort are expensive. - all of the staff were lovely; great interactions. We had a great experience here and would stay again on points. I’m not sure if we would pay the hefty normal rates - I think if we were paying we would likely look at a condo instead, although the resort amenities can’t be beat. Read less

Walking distance to the upscale shopping mall (great ice cream at Lappert's there). Boardwalk/walking path by the coast is out front and gives you access to a beach nearby with very good snorkeling (lots of shore dives happening too). Multiple pools and plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas - sure you need to get there early and grab a spot for the day but not insanely early. The fitness center is big - lots of cardio and strength training equipment. The Starbucks on site is a gem - and always has a line at peak times. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed - no complaints there and it's not like you are spending too much time in there. Wifi was admittedly a bit spotty at times - must have been times of day when everyone logs on and bandwidth is frustrating. The self-parking fee is a bit much but the worst bit is that the parking spaces are ridiculously tight - must be the most narrow spots in the world. Luau is right on site and popular and check-in area is grand. All-in-all two thumbs up. Read less
