Mont Rochelle

Franschhoek, Winelands

The hotel

In the style of a private manor house, the property dates back to 1668 but today offers discerning guests the ultimate in luxury. Effortlessly combining elegance with modern comfort, it also boasts a glorious location. Set against a backdrop of the Klein Dassenberg Mountains, no matter what window you’re standing at, the views are breathtaking! As well as a swimming pool to lounge by, there’s a wellness centre and a gym. Alternatively, explore your surrounds by bicycle or on horseback. Set in the wine region, food and drink is, of course, vitally important. Miko offers fine dining in every aspect with each and every dish a work of art. Country Kitchen is more relaxed, perfect for an al fresco lunch or cosy starlit dinner. Before you decide which wine to drink with your meal, visit the tasting room, there’s a huge variety on offer, many from the Mont Rochelle vineyard itself.

The setting at Mont Rochelle was so beautiful we didn't see the need to visit any other winery. While there, I had a dental emergency and the staff found and took me to a dentist immediately. What could have been a horrible interruption to our trip was resolved by very capable hands in about 30 minutes. I can't thank their staff enough!! Thank you Mont Rochelle for your above and beyond help. Read less

We loved our all too brief stay at Mont Rochelle. As soon as we arrived the caring hospitality of the place was obvious. Everyone was smiling and nothing was too much trouble. Our room had a wonderful view of the valley. The food was all extremely good and well priced. A great choice in Franschoek.

Fabulous stay, from the moment we arrived. On establishing that one of us needed gluten-free food, gluten-free alternatives were immediately added to the selection of items in the complimentary mini-bar. (Chef also made some gluten-free muffins and scones for breakfast to supplement the gluten-free bread.) The staff were incredibly friendly,… Read more

On establishing that one of us needed gluten-free food, gluten-free alternatives were immediately added to the selection of items in the complimentary mini-bar. (Chef also made some gluten-free muffins and scones for breakfast to supplement the gluten-free bread.) The staff were incredibly friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They were able to advise us regarding the different wine-tastings available, helped work out an itinerary for the wine-tram, arranged a doctor’s appointment and subsequent transport for one of our group, took us to restaurants in Franschhoek for dinner and then collected us afterwards - all complimentary. On top of that, the food was excellent and the location just superb. So tranquil, a wonderful destination for a recharge. Even though our holiday was continuing beyond the wine region, we really didn’t want to leave. Read less

We had a most enjoyable wine tasting experience here sitting outside on a lovely warm and sunny day in the most beautiful setting. They have a few tasting choices and we opted for the one with tapas. Three wines and three delicious bowls of tapas complimenting the wines perfectly. Staff were friendly, efficient and really good fun. We had such… Read more

Hands down one of the loveliest places I have ever been. The grounds are just gorgeous and the staff equally welcoming and helpful. Every time I asked for something I was told, Oh, I already arranged that for you.
