The hotel

In the style of a private manor house, the property dates back to 1668 but today offers discerning guests the ultimate in luxury. Effortlessly combining elegance with modern comfort, it also boasts a glorious location. Set against a backdrop of the Klein Dassenberg Mountains, no matter what window you’re standing at, the views are breathtaking! As well as a swimming pool to lounge by, there’s a wellness centre and a gym. Alternatively, explore your surrounds by bicycle or on horseback. Set in the wine region, food and drink is, of course, vitally important. Miko offers fine dining in every aspect with each and every dish a work of art. Country Kitchen is more relaxed, perfect for an al fresco lunch or cosy starlit dinner. Before you decide which wine to drink with your meal, visit the tasting room, there’s a huge variety on offer, many from the Mont Rochelle vineyard itself.

We enjoyed our 3 nights stay at the Mont Rochelle Hotel. Overall everything was great except a 5 course dinner that we had at Miko Restaurant that was way below par for a luxury 5 star establishment. The views are breathtaking from the Hotel overlooking the Franschoek Valley, the spa & breakfast was great as well.

Everyone we came in contact with made our stay memorable. We highly recommend Miko restaurant. The staff couldn't be more helpful making us feel us part of their family. Breathtaking views, delicious food and an incredible property. Looking forward to our next visit.

We ended our South African honeymoon in Franschhoek. We stayed at the Mont Rochelle and it was perfect! Everyone was kind and welcoming. The views, food, and wine were excellent. This is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the views as well as being close to town to enjoy shopping, food, and the wine tram, which is a must!

The Complimentary wine tasting was also a lovely surprise. The team were so welcoming, and helpful in arranging things we wanted to do, nothing was too much trouble, My husband and I would highly recommend the Mont Rochelle hotel for a truly magical stay in Franschhoek. My first choice would have been La Residence but to to flooding we stayed here again. It really didn’t disappoint. I’d like to give special mention to Annette at front of house and Sia the driver. Both really went above and beyond. Please all keep doing what you’re doing as it really is paradise. Read less
