Mont Rochelle

Franschhoek, Winelands

The hotel

In the style of a private manor house, the property dates back to 1668 but today offers discerning guests the ultimate in luxury. Effortlessly combining elegance with modern comfort, it also boasts a glorious location. Set against a backdrop of the Klein Dassenberg Mountains, no matter what window you’re standing at, the views are breathtaking! As well as a swimming pool to lounge by, there’s a wellness centre and a gym. Alternatively, explore your surrounds by bicycle or on horseback. Set in the wine region, food and drink is, of course, vitally important. Miko offers fine dining in every aspect with each and every dish a work of art. Country Kitchen is more relaxed, perfect for an al fresco lunch or cosy starlit dinner. Before you decide which wine to drink with your meal, visit the tasting room, there’s a huge variety on offer, many from the Mont Rochelle vineyard itself.

We had a wonderful afternoon picnicking by the pond. Excellent setting with beautiful views and amenities. We got a picnic hamper which had a good variety and more that we could eat. They provide picnic blankets and bean bags. Amazing day out on our final day in Franschoek.

We stayed here for five days recently and had a wonderful time. All the staff were so friendly, kind and professional which made our stay so special. James and Peter were particularly caring and helpful when I was unwell. The setting of the estate is stunningly beautiful, our room was very pretty and very comfortable, and the food was excellent and served in a dining room with the most perfect backdrop. My husband enjoyed the wine tasting very much, and said that Dustin was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. The staff at the Country Kitchen were all very friendly and enthusiastic. Thank you to all the lovely people at Mont Rochelle who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had such a great stay. We are very grateful. We would love to return. Read less

We stopped here as part of the tram tour on the red line. Very pretty property with gorgeous views. Wine tasting was very nice with polite and informative staff. This was our first stop at 11 am so we didn't try out the restaurant. Worth the visit.

Picnic experience was poor. Picnic basket food was exceptionally poor and expensive for what is provided. Facility and grounds ok but cramped. Not worth it. Best part is the helicopter trip out but should have chosen a different venue for the picnic. Cant comment about the hotel or restaurant.
