This resort in Mauritius is really very special and amazing. I can not describe in words how perfect our stay in this place was. The location, rooms, restaurants, food, staff, environment, services, beach, simply everything there was excellent. I must admit we are very demanding travelers with high level requirements. We traveled in many luxury resorts around the world, including Maldives, Seychelles, Florida, Dubai, Thailand, Bali... but the service in this hotel really surprised us in a positive way. The atmosphere is there perfect, very calm and peaceful, you do not feel like in the busy market. Special thanks belong to our fantastic butlers Roshan and Sunny who made our stay memorable and unforgettable. We already miss them very much. We highly recommend this resort to everyone who seeks for luxury, peace, and high level services. We cant wait to visit this resort again. We were very satisfied, One and Only Le Saint Geran met our high expectations and demands. Many hotels in the world can learn from One and Only. You are simply the best! Cant wait to visit all One and Only resort in the world. We already plan our holiday in one of them. Mr. Kralik Igor + Simona :-) Read less

I have been coming to Mauritius for 32 years. I’ve known it as an undiscovered gem when I was single and as a thriving, yet idyllic holiday destination now that we have two young men that holiday with us. When our youngest son was cleared to fly at 6 weeks ‘old’, and we headed to Mauritius for a sensational family holiday. We’ve come here almost every year since then. This year my husband and I desperately needed some alone-time after an extremely traumatic and exhausting year. We don’t often get time together so this would be more precious than anyone can imagine. We decided to spend this precious time at Le Saint Geran. Having previously stayed here many years ago, I believed that it would make for the ultimate getaway and our stay would be exceptional. It has been exceptional, but for the wrong reasons. Today we are again without hot water. Yes, this can happen, maybe once or twice, but this is the 5th day of no hot water. That’s five days out of seven. We have asked kindly over the phone - we don’t like to cause a fuss. My husband has been to reception. We have spoken to two different managers on duty. We’ve been thanked for our understanding and promised that the matter would get ‘personal attention’. Last night after dinner we were hopeful when we returned to our room. I eventually stormed the reception, in my pajamas, at 11pm in my frustration. It was embarrassing and should never have been necessary. We still don’t have hot water. We are supposed to leave tomorrow for another five star hotel where we are due to meet our two boys, but my bags are packed and I would like to leave as soon as my husband returns from his scuba dive, if possible. It’s a scuba dive that I refused to go on even though it was booked, for fear of my safety. We are both PADI certified Advanced Open Water divers. On our 1st day of diving the scuba diving boat refused to start. We were told that it was due to the ‘rusty old starter motor’ that was due to be replaced the following day. Eventually we were on our way, but our second dive of the morning had to be abandoned after the engine properly died. I had visions of us being swept out to sea due to our boat not having enough power to get across the waves on the reef. Seven hail Mary’s later we made it back to the boat house. Our second day of diving was thankfully not at the hotel because both engines on the boat were now out of commission we were told, after the second engine was damaged on rocks the day before. Our Dive Master took us in his own car to another Dive Centre about 40 minutes away, where we headed out to Gunners Coin for some wreck diving. To cut a long story short, we had endless issues with the number of weights we were given and it wasn’t until we became far more insistent than we would have liked to the point of being rude that the issue was corrected. I threatened not to dive if I again had a weight issue, my husband demanded to resurface, I felt like I was going to drown when I tried to get back on the boat because our instructor was trying to manage everything on his own and I had to paddle water for far too long. I came within 20 bars of running out of air on both dives, first because I had used so much trying to descend with too little weight and on the second dive as I tried to keep up with the young Dive Master on the way back to the boat! I refused to go out on the dive today instead opting to pack my suitcases! Diving is a potentially dangerous sport that requires that the utmost attention be given to every aspect of the procedure so that there is no room for accidents to happen. In light of this, I will definitely not recommend this Dive Centre. What has been good about our stay you may ask? The food has generally been lovely, especially Tapasake which has been absolutely wonderful. The heated swimming pools are awesome. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms look beautiful (let me know when you have hot water so that you can use them) Some of the staff have been delightful and yes, our names have been remembered every now and then. But when my single poached egg was dropped into a pot of cold water by someone who appeared from the kitchen this morning and was instructed on how to cook a poached egg because the egg-man was missing-in-action and the other egg-person rushed off to greet a well known celebrity, it was the last nail in Le Saint Geran’s coffin. Needless to say, I left without the egg. We won’t be back and I’m angry because we trusted the hotel to take care of our very precious time which is now lost. No, we were not regulars, but we hoped to be. We are not famous, which we hope to never be, but we were your guests. And we deserve far more than what we have received. Read less

This was a dinner with 3 other couples and what a treat it was. We ate in the Prime Restaurant and all I can say is that the food was exquisite. The attention to detail, presentation and taste of the food just leaves you wanting more, the only negative thing I can say it there was not enough of each dish on the plate, it was that good. We had an amazing stay. The staff were all extremely friendly and great with the kids. The food was also amazing. The kids got to eat for free if they are 5 or below. Mine fortunately were! The restaurants were great. The only downside was Tapasake. We have been to Tapasake at O&O Reethi Rah so this one was disappointing. The menu was more Asian (with Indian as well) instead of Japanese fusion. We took a private boat out to snorkel and it was an amazing experience. Definitely a must! And if you do, ask for Danesh (he's a skipper) to take you out. He is fantastic! This was certainly the highlight of our trip. The pool was temperature controlled so my daughter, who gets cold very easily, was extremely comfortable being in the pool the whole day. We would definitely come back next year! Read less
