It’s not a holiday without a pool. Hotels without private pools? Unthinkable! Don’t worry, though, because we’ve been on a mission to find villas and hotels with private pools, and those ultra-luxurious swim-up pool holidays in exotic locations. Because the more time you spend in the water, the better the holiday, right?

If you’ve got kids then booking holidays with private pool facilities is a no-brainer. We’ve got a great range of hotels and villas with private pools suitable for all the family. You get your own space to splash about in, without worrying about getting crowded out by other holidaymakers. Bliss.

Hang on, isn’t there usually a giant salt-water pool on tap, called ‘the beach’? Well, yes, but it’s sandy (and that stuff gets everywhere), it’s always an early-morning fight to get the best spots, and to be honest, that walk is a bit of a drag. It’s far easier to simply stroll out of your room and have your own private pool just metres away. It also means you’re not carting a dozen bags, windbreaks, your own towels, snacks, drinks, boogie boards for the kids, and just about everything else you can imagine for a day at the beach. If a location doesn’t match our exacting standards (and that includes the pool), it doesn’t get our seal of approval. So let’s have a quick trot around the globe and look at the best destinations for private pool holidays.

The Caribbean — blue skies, palm trees, and private pools

Sure, you can walk along sun-kissed beaches at sunset and feel the sand between your toes, but if you’re talking luxury all-inclusive hotels with private pools, then the Caribbean is your top spot. Check out the Jade Mountain, a glorious hotel in St Lucia that’s perfect for a tropical getaway.

Mexico — Cancun: party central

Spend your days touring ancient ruins, browsing local markets for trinkets, or going on jungle treks to experience a swim in a cenote or natural pool. Then head back to your hotel and relax in the pool, some of which have a bar right in the middle (which keeps the beer lovely and cold). Our top pick is the Viceroy Riviera Maya, offering rooms with private pools and all the amenities you need. The Maldives — sheer, unlimited luxury and relaxation

This is the spot if you simply want to forget about the rest of the world and unwind in one of the most truly spectacular places on the planet. Two of our favourite hotels in this tropical paradise are the Atmosphere Kanifushi, and the Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives. We adore the infinity pools that are as blue as the ocean. Crystal-clear water, total luxury, and all-inclusive hotels with private pools where your time is your own – it doesn’t get much better than the Maldives.

Asia — exotic and exciting

Forget backpacking your way around this fabulously exotic location, Thailand has become a top spot for all-inclusive hotels with private pools, as well as family-friendly hotels. We particularly like the Rayavadee, and the gorgeous Aspara Beachfront Resort and Villa.

If you fancy something a little more off the usual tourist trail but in the same region, why not check out private pool holidays in Malaysia? This up-and-coming destination offers a vibrant, bold, and exciting experience, packed full of extras for a memorable holiday. We are continually reviewing our flying schedules, taking into account the  Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice against all non-essential travel. Depending on when you are due to travel, your holiday may be affected and we’ll email you to let you know as least 21 days before travel.

For extra piece of mind, new bookings made before 30 September 2020 for travel up 30 April 2021 also have the flexibility to amend free of charge. If you need to change don’t worry, you can move your holiday as far out as 31 December 2021 subject to availability.

Payment flexibility


Don’t worry if you’ve missed a payment or just need a little more time to pay; we have options available to help you. If your holiday is going ahead as planned, you can continue to pay for your holiday in Manage my booking, even if travelling in less than 12 weeks. If you’re unsure, you can delay any additional payments by choosing a new time to travel by requesting a call back in Manage My booking for one of our team to look at options. If your holiday is more than 6 months away, you may wish to set up a Direct Debit to spread the cost. This can be arranged whilst rebooking or afterwards in Manage my booking.

We're flexible with your holiday plans


We understand that you may wish to change your holiday plans and we appreciate the need for flexibility. 

We'll be in touch by email letting you know how to register to change your holiday plans. You can also log into Manage my booking to find the details there.

You're holiday is going ahead as planned


If we haven’t notified you of any changes, your holiday will be going ahead as planned but if you prefer to move your holiday to a later time we can help. You can call our team on 0344 472 9499 who can look at options for you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding


Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.

To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
