Ayodya Resort

Nusa Dua, Bali

The hotel

Your very own Balinese water palace, the exquisite Ayodya Resort Bali sits in 11.5 hectares of glorious gardens, filled with temple-style buildings and reflective lakes, which wind around its swimming pools before flowing down to a beach that’s often scattered with colourful beanbags and fringed Balinese parasols. The interiors are as authentic as the architecture, featuring opulent fabrics, dark woods, and ornamental fretwork. The entertainment continues the theme, with soothing spa treatments competing with weekly dinner shows at the resort’s Balinese Theatre, where mythical and magical dance performances are accompanied by the Gamelan orchestra’s music – and by Indonesian and international buffets (for other meals you have everything from 24-hour international dining to fine Italian, Japanese, and barbecue options). Even little guests get local experiences, with turtle releases and fish feeding in between fun at Camp Ananda and swims in their own children’s pool.

We booked a twin room overlooking the main pool, it was spacious and comfortable, but a bit outdated and in need of refurbishment. The on-site Italian restaurant is fantastic, we ate there twice. The buffet breakfast was very good, lots of options. The sports bar was great for lunch, service available by the pool, good selection of cocktails. We used the lagoon pool most days, it got a bit noisy with families, but otherwise very relaxing. The resort is about a 10 minute walk to the side gate where there are shops, restaurants and a supermarket. The Bali Collections precinct is about a 20 minute walk or there is also a complimentary shuttle bus. The hotel staff are friendly and the tour desk staff were very helpful. Read less

We stayed 7 nights at this hotel in a lagoon view room. The hotel, though extensive, has a lovely ambience from the days before mass tourism. The hotel entrance, foyer, grounds and room layout - with rooms arrayed around courtyards with fountains, pools and gardens - were beautiful. The room was large and comfortable with a good balcony and, again despite the size of the hotel, unexpectedly private. The bathroom is a bit outdated, but once you clamber over the side of the bathtub, the shower is hot and has good pressure. Breakfast was popular and crowded on the weekend when the wedding parties were in residence. The buffet had enough options most people. There was also usually an espresso/cappuccino coffee machine that produced decent coffee and was working most mornings of our stay. The pool areas were comfortable and never overcrowded, the pools clean and well maintained. The beachside casual dining area looked enticing and was popular, though we never ate there. There are really only two negatives during our stay. One was that our bed was pretty creaky, which took some getting used to when trying to sleep. The other was the beachside entertainment, which was very loud recorded Western nightclub music played (thankfully only) until about 10:30pm on weekend nights. Our room was nearer reception than the beach, and it was still intrusive. Overall, though, we had a delightful stay at Ayodya, and would happily return to this hotel in the future. Read less

Best family holiday. Lots happening at the resort as well as in the beach both during the day and at night. Great initiative to limit food wastage at buffet meals and use of plastic (on lack of). Straws etc. great job.

The hotel is great...I couldn't say otherwise. But there are some issues with the guests. Maybe politically incorrect but the multiple chinese weddings are quite disturbing while being extremely noissy...a crowd of chinese loudly expressing themselves....and the peace is gone. Moreover, some indian wedding is taking over the beach now, with a big tent. A herd of indians is approaching. Where to hide? In the room? Nooooo...hearing some noissy chinese the floor above. Still, I hope they will be gone or go mute. It's so rude shouting at each other over the pool! But no worries....the hotel staff will complete the picture. They do not understand a thing sometimes when ordering something else but the exact menu at the bar. I think most of them are limited to a certain number of english words. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the rest of the time...mainly during the night. But like I said at the begining: the hotel is great! Read less
