Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

Wonderfully located in the entertainment district of Vancouver, this is a comfortable, modern hotel offering a home-from-home base from which to explore the city. All attractions are within walking distance, including some great shops, bars and restaurants. After a busy day, it’s lovely to relax in the hotel’s atrium pool, or head to the fitness centre instead complete with Jacuzzi for reclining in. Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre is also home to the Shark Club Bar & Grill, one of the city’s hottest nightspots with big-screen TVs (30 of them at the last count!), a dance floor and an open-concept kitchen. A great place to kickback with a cocktail or a craft beer, feast on favourite dishes too, such as ribs and wings, whilst getting in the mood for a lively night out. Moxie’s Grill & Bar, also on-site, is another cool hang-out for dinner and cocktails.

But also not great. The location is fairly decent for some stuff. Good restaurants and stores close by. Seemed clean to me and not that worn--but maybe that has to do with what room you get. The main things I didn't like was the cost was pretty high for the level of hotel. Also the room was fairly small. I probably would not stay here again unless… Read more

So two things didn’t work in my room the A/C (room came with an ok oscilating fan...but a fan is NOT A/C...especially in a heatwave (luckily it didnt last too long) but the wifi didnt work (despite several chats with the front desk). Further nothing was done to my bill when I checked out and complained about the wifi again. Those two things… Read more

Those two things aside, the location is good, the rest of the room was decent and both Moxies and the sports bar seemed very popular. Read less

Great location for a concert either at Rogers Place or BC Stadium. Bed was good, remote for TV never worked, tub had numerous hairs in it...had to clean that out, and a towel also had hair in it. Other nearby hotels are just as close...go there

We only stayed here one night between getting off the Rocky Mountaineer and getting on the ferry to Vancouver Island at Horseshoe Bay. We hadn't realised how very convienient this hotel was for the bus that takes you there and when we asked reception for some help to locate the bus - the 257 express, $3 each - they gave us very good directions, thank you. The hotel rooms are pretty big, the layout to get to the restaurant is a little confusing. It's not in the lobby/ground area, it's on the 2nd floor in a kind of Mazzanine. A bit confusing but the breakfast of pancakes and granola was very tasty. The beds were comfy, and the room clean. I would imagine it is extremely convienient for anything at the stadium which is only a block or so away. Library square is just along the street and the Public Library has a great rooftop space. There are several eating places round the back of the hotel on Robson st. Very, very good location for us. Read less

We stayed for 4 nights, an easy walk to Gastown or Yaletown and a metro station. The staff were all very helpful, our only minus point being that our room faced out towards the main road and on our first night, despite being awake for the previous 22 hours, we could hardly get any sleep because of traffic noise. I asked in the morning if we could have a room facing the rear and they could not have been more helpful. We checked out, left our luggage in the storage room and then checked back in after 4pm. The receptionist told me that the rooms facing out are actually more popular as they have a view and the rear ones just face the back alley. The next three nights we slept well. Other than that, no complaints. We would definitely stay again as long as we had a room facing the back. Read less
