Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

Wonderfully located in the entertainment district of Vancouver, this is a comfortable, modern hotel offering a home-from-home base from which to explore the city. All attractions are within walking distance, including some great shops, bars and restaurants. After a busy day, it’s lovely to relax in the hotel’s atrium pool, or head to the fitness centre instead complete with Jacuzzi for reclining in. Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre is also home to the Shark Club Bar & Grill, one of the city’s hottest nightspots with big-screen TVs (30 of them at the last count!), a dance floor and an open-concept kitchen. A great place to kickback with a cocktail or a craft beer, feast on favourite dishes too, such as ribs and wings, whilst getting in the mood for a lively night out. Moxie’s Grill & Bar, also on-site, is another cool hang-out for dinner and cocktails.

I usually stay at sandman's in freak with them all over Alberta and British Columbia. I have stayed at this hotel before as well but this city was horrible right from the get-go. As a business traveller I pick my hotels based on their facilities, in my case I very much enjoy the hot tub to help me relax after a Long Day's Work. I called the hotel the day of the booking, a mere hour before my arrival and confirmed that their pool and hot tub was in fact open and in operation. Unfortunately upon my arrival I found that the pool and hot tub are closed until the month of March. Clearly this should have been known by the staff and communicated to me when I inquired and booked. However the staff chose to lie to me and tell me one thing when they knew the opposite was true. Not the end of the world but it was a bad start to what would only be a worse experience. I was out late that evening entertaining clients and injured my foot. When I arrived at the hotel I asked for a small bag that I could put some ice in. I was advised at this point while they had operating ice machines on three different floors, they were locked as they did not want to disturb other guests. At the time there were three different individuals at the desk and I offered them $5 to quietly go and get some ice from one of the three available and working ice machines so that I could ice my injured foot. I was told that I should walk a few blocks on my injured foot and go get my own ice, as they were unwilling to accommodate my request. In 10 years of traveling on business I have never been to a hotel with such poor guest services and a complete disregard for a customer's safety. But on the bright side, the 3 front desk employees got to continue their conversation and not have to assist or lift a finger for a guest in need. Read less

Three lovely nights at this city centre hotel. Close to restaurants, Gastown, other shopping streets. Room was small but modern and comfortable with a nice bathroom. We arrived by plane, got a train to the city centre and walked about three blocks to the hotel. A safe bet. We also left our luggage there for the day when we checked out.

Had a great stay at the Sandman this past weekend. From Parking to Check-in, cleanliness of the room and overall impression, it was a great stay! I had no issues with the elevator has some reviews mentioned, it was quick and readily available. I would stay again for future weekend getaways!

$29.00 parking per night. Check-in seem to be OK. Our room was on the 10th floor. The elevator was very small Old and slow. Creek and cracked all the way up to the 10th floor and the same come down. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a room that was that small. They do not have a continental breakfast. The thermostat couldn’t be set below 20 deg C.… Read more

The room was hot so we opened the window and it only opened 6 inches and then we heard what was going on outside all night long. Read less
