Image of the Tripadvisor rating Fake luxury - stay at the Hilton next door for half the price!

The hotel is not really luxurious and there is no reason to pay more than double the price of the attached Hilton when you get the exact same amenities. There are a number of issues here. The hotel is not really luxurious and there is no reason to pay more than double the price of the attached Hilton when you get the exact same amenities. There are a number of issues here. First, they didn’t make our room up on the last day. We were out all day and they couldn’t do it at 9 p.m. when we returned. This is totally unacceptable for a hotel that charges $500+ per night. The valet parking is a total disaster. They are completely overwhelmed and one night there was a line stretching down the driveway. We decided to self park for the rest of our stay but the Hilton self park (the Waldorf doesn’t have it) does not accept the electronic key, so we had to pull a ticket and get new keys at the Waldorf front desk to access the garage. The pools are great as is the breakfast buffet but again, you can use those and stay at the Hilton. We visited there and it looks very nice. Diana at breakfast was also great. Disney transportation is perfect - on time, minimal stops, and comfortable buses. Waldorf and Hilton use the same bus. There is nothing particularly upscale about the hotel itself. The coffee shop in the lobby sells pre-made breakfast sandwiches at a premium. Don’t ask for any substitutions. At the Waldorf, I can’t get a sandwich my way? We are Diamond members with Hilton and got little recognition. When we checked in nobody explained anything - they didn’t even direct me to the elevator. In countless Hilton stays as a Diamond I’ve never received a suite upgrade. The rooms are nothing to write home about - very basic though beds are comfortable. There are elements of the hotel that try to mimic the original Waldorf in New York but it seems very out of place in Florida. I will say that Eric at the front desk is amazing and really embodies what the Waldorf should offer in terms of service. He went out of his way to assure I got my Diamond dining credits on a back to back reservation when the system didn’t do it. If he ran the place I’m sure it would be 100x better. In the end, I am very happy we used points for the stay. I’d hate to pay full price m for a room here based on what you get. Read less

Excited about our weekend getaway, we thought we’d treat ourselves to a luxurious, 5 star stay. With the history, and reputation behind the Waldorf I am uncomfortable and utterly, flabbergasted and extremely disappointed that I am writing my review at 3 a m. Walking into the grand resort you’d think, amazing sleep at least!?!?! We got a lovely suite, sure. Is it dated? Yes… but you think you can overlook it Bc you’d pay $700 per night and perhaps sleep the best sleep for that money can buy at Disney- Absolutely NOT! At first glance , as forgiving as I try to be I enter and see wall to wall old, stained carpeting, heavy, dusty drapery, feather pillows— a nightmare to anyone who knows about allergies and dust mites. There is this fine dust on everything you touch and sit on and feel. My lungs can feel the fine dusting and I cannot sleep. This room makes me itchy???Even on allergy meds can feel my body fighting to wheeze. Two, the bed although crisply made, is hard and flat as a rock. I’m awake and cannot sleep due to how bad the mattress is. Where’s the luxurious sleep I was at least hoping that I was paying for??? Sleep at a supreme price??? Worst night thinking how much i paid and what I’m not getting for this expensive experience. I’m awake, distraught and enraged to not be able to sleep. Three, AC… it’s slow and does not cool very easily… About to look into alternatives… save your money, your sleep and your travels… redeem at another hotel.. that is hypoallergenic, modern and hopefully boosts about a great bed. This was my first stay at a Waldorf Astoria and it was definitely worth it. The hotel was beautiful, clean and the food was great. The level of service my wife and I received was unlike anything we have experienced before. I can’t wait to come back.
