I booked with The Capitol Hotel for a trip at the end of September that was cancelled due to COVID. I booked through a third party vendor and knew that the trip had a potential to be cancelled. The hotel’s policy offered no pre-payment and free cancellation up to 24 hours before the planned date. I reserved on August 13th, and the hotel charged me on August 14th which is a violation of their policy. I didn’t realize the charge until September 1st, which is the day that I canceled the trip. I contacted the hotel regarding a refund to which I was informed that they had a zero cancellation policy and pre-payment was required. (Again policy stated otherwise) I spoke with Angel who was very helpful and looked into the issue for me, however the general manager refused to issue a refund (even though the charge on my credit card states Capitol Hotel) and said it was up to the third party vendor to issue the refund. After contacting the third party vendor, they reached out to the hotel and explained the refund process on September 3rd, which they agreed should come from the hotel. They then requested me send proof of charge and again reached out to the hotel for refund. The vendor allowed the property 5 business days to process this request, on top of the at this point 5 business days this dispute had already been ongoing. They still refused a refund. This morning, September 16th, I received an email from the vendor stating the property didn't offer an acceptable solution for my issue (they weren’t going to process a refund). The vendor in return wired me funds IMMEDIATELY in order to right the wrong of the Capitol Hotel. My trip has now been rescheduled and had the Capitol Hotel followed their own policies, I would’ve rebooked with them, however I will NEVER book with them again. The situation was handled poorly at best. I never once heard from the hotel manager regarding this issue, though I’m sure they’ve seen my name quite a few times. As a business in the hospitality industry (a suffering industry at that, due to COVID-19) one would expect some sort of outreach. I am highly disappointed in the service by this establishment. They staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms were decent enough, but could be better, smelled a bit. Our key cards messed up 5 times in 2 days and we had to have them rescanned. Breakfast was not edible except for the small apple, tangerine and bacon. Liquid fake scrambled eggs. Biscuit and gravy tasteless. The outside floor was hideous and… Read more

Breakfast was not edible except for the small apple, tangerine and bacon. Liquid fake scrambled eggs. Biscuit and gravy tasteless. The outside floor was hideous and definitely needs updated. Parking was available although minimal and on a first come basis. Otherwise you have to pay $40 for 12 hours about 2 blocks away. The self serve payment center states there's a Capitol coupon. When asked about it they admitted they don't supply coupons. Huh? Roughly 4 to 5 blocks or more to walk to downtown so wear comfortable shoes. Read less

Angel is the only bright spot of this hotel. I’ve never met a more caring, friendly, professional hotel clerk in my life. The manager here takes out his piss-poor attitude on hotel staff and guests. So disappointing. Leave that crap at home, dude. Get it together.
