Parker Palm Springs

Palm Springs, USA

The hotel

Cheeky yet civilised, Parker Palm Springs lives up to its belief ‘you are only young once… but you can be immature forever’ by throwing in witty twists to desert living. After all, who said a desert-bound hotel couldn’t have a yacht club? (To be fair PSYC’s actually more ‘American country club’, with tennis, spa, and 24-hour fitness zones). The Parker’s inexplicably lush gardens host highbrow petanque and croquet, while its three pools include a 24-hour adult only pool, its rooms promise WiFi, and its dining spans Norma’s diner-style comfort food, Mini Bar’s sharing boards, and the seductively indulgent bistro, Mister Parker’s. And it’s all near downtown Palm Springs and El Paseo Drive, with local attractions including Moorten Botanical Garden and Cactarium, the Rimrock and Canyon Plaza shopping centres, the convention centre, and Knott’s Soak City Palm Springs.

If you're going for broke, spend a few days at the Parker. Fabulous hotel from top to bottom, great for people watching, for hanging out in the large rooms, taking in the funky decor, or just grabbing a drink in one of the bars/restaurants. Definitely way more than most hotels in the area and no one likes to see extra "resort fees" that should just be added into the hotel price (plus, it rained during our stay so I'm not quite sure why we had to pay the fee). Last bit about price: food is crazy expensive and room service is out of control. But hey, like I said, if you're going for a couple of days, ignore the $$ and just take it all in. Really fantastic. I had the best massage therapist (Angela) and yoga instructor (Annie) and a super patient very good tennis pro (Vlad - if you are quite experienced, ask for Gabe). Everyone at Norma's was so friendly and helpful. I love sitting outside under the heat lamps. And the manager (James always sporting a blazer) rocks. Super recommendations and he remembers what you like. The crunchy french toast really is amazing. He’s right. The people watching on Saturday night by the fire pit is very good. It is surprising how many people can fit in the space and how late it stayed really busy. But I went for the drinks and nibbles from the “Mini Bar” honestly. When I was checking out, the woman at the desk made sure that I was charged the long weekend rate and received the credit per the rate. I didn’t even ask. There are usually two women at the front desk. They are both outstanding. If a guy is there covering, just wait for one of the women to come back. They really know what they are doing. I am trying to figure out how soon I can go back. Read less

We had a wonderful visit (recovering from family vacation time over Xmas haha) - cannot recommend Counter Reformation enough! It was an amazing meal and such wonderful wines - with terrific service. The room was gorgeous and wish it had been a bit more so we could joy our hammock a bit more. Altogether a wonderful experience!

From the immaculate grounds and playing croquet and pétanque to the meals at Counter Reformation (don’t miss) and also an adults night out at Mister Parker - it provided the perfect base for our Palm Springs visit. My kids asked whether our next hotel would have croquet!! All of the staff went above and beyond to make our trip special, including taking care of my husband’s birthday celebration for us. It was too cold to swim when we stayed, but can imagine that the pools would be fantastic in Spring. Our rooms were huge and the toiletries were best I have seen. The vibe, styling and ambience of this venue are all just perfect. I couldn’t rate it more highly and am planning to come back in future. Thanks Parker! Read less
