Parker Palm Springs

Palm Springs, USA

The hotel

Cheeky yet civilised, Parker Palm Springs lives up to its belief ‘you are only young once… but you can be immature forever’ by throwing in witty twists to desert living. After all, who said a desert-bound hotel couldn’t have a yacht club? (To be fair PSYC’s actually more ‘American country club’, with tennis, spa, and 24-hour fitness zones). The Parker’s inexplicably lush gardens host highbrow petanque and croquet, while its three pools include a 24-hour adult only pool, its rooms promise WiFi, and its dining spans Norma’s diner-style comfort food, Mini Bar’s sharing boards, and the seductively indulgent bistro, Mister Parker’s. And it’s all near downtown Palm Springs and El Paseo Drive, with local attractions including Moorten Botanical Garden and Cactarium, the Rimrock and Canyon Plaza shopping centres, the convention centre, and Knott’s Soak City Palm Springs.

We were disappointed in our recent stay at the Parker. We had our wedding here three years ago, so know the hotel very well. Unfortunately the service was bad. There wasn’t enough space at the pools for guests. This resulted in people lying all over the floor near the pool, with waitlists in order to sit at a lounger. It was a bit pathetic of a scene. Nothing was offered to those who were lying in the sun without shade on the granite floor, just a shrug of the shoulders. Things in general took forever - a drink, food, etc. There a few things the hotel has done that just make no sense. For instance, no room service at night (which is fine), but you also can’t order ahead via phone at Normas and have to order in person. That is a dumb and inconvenient policy. I’d mark some of the troubles down the reopening after Covid, but a lot of the issues stem from the approach that the hotel has towards its guests. You are a dollar sign. The vibe is that the hotel doesn’t generally care about your stay, and is trying to maximize revenue. It’s sort of sad. Read less

Went to Parker to check out the property for hosting an event. We called to see about having a drink there. Sorry no RSVP must book it online. Tried that but nothing available. After an eternity, they decline not to let us on the property. Will take business elsewhere. Bring your tax return, bank statement and letter from your accountant to get into this place. I've been to Parker a number of times over the years, but there comes a time when you just have to say "enough". Tonight was unfortunately that night. $250 later, after a mediocre meal, a sterile environment, a lack lustre crowd and a $12 parking fee on top, there are just no redeeming features to recommend it. Tonight was unfortunately that night. $250 later, after a mediocre meal, a sterile environment, a lack lustre crowd and a $12 parking fee on top, there are just no redeeming features to recommend it. It wants to be the SOHO house (not a good idea in the first place) but it simply doesn't make the grade. My recommendation, don't bother. There are soooo many nice places in Palm Springs don't waste your time -- or money. Read less

Since joining The Leading Hotels of The World Chain, The Parker Palm Springs, which was already quite spectacular, has become truly world class. The hotel is set on extraordinary grounds that are lush, cool, and tropical, contrasting with the desert environment it is in. The amenities like the two pools, Normas restaurant, and incredible private and public outdoor fire pits, hammocks, sculpture gardens, and more, make you feel like you have the entire resort to yourself. The rooms are beautifully and whimsically decorated and the lobby is a stunning reference the the glory days of the best of the mid century. The staff however, seals the deal as they cater to your every whim, and anticipate every needs. They are the definition of a world class staff. Special shout out to Peter Ybarra, as a true leader at the Parker. Everyone in their lifetime should have the opportunity to stay at the Parker. It is a special place. There is nowhere like it. Awesome hotel. Great vibe. Incredible service. Entire adult pool crew was excellent. One word of caution, if visiting in the winter, it seems the pools get shaded pretty early in the day ~2pm. I’m sure it’s much better as the sun gets higher in the sky but something to consider if you are traveling for some sun to relax by the pool. That was us… Read more

I’m sure it’s much better as the sun gets higher in the sky but something to consider if you are traveling for some sun to relax by the pool. That was us but we still had an absolutely wonderful time. Room was great, amenities were great, crowd was great. Would stay again. Read less
