Location great with river view. But service levels woeful and hotel could do with a refurb. On arrival asked if needed housekeeping for a three day stay. No water in room and empty mini bar. Service on terrace lamentable: couldn't get attention table had waste from previous guests. Breakfast extra. Coffee tasted like dishwater, orange juice not fresh, hot food on buffet coagulation, bread boring, sliced and unappeyising. Gym fine but swimming pool still closed for cleaning at 9am. Coffee shop an unimpressive Starbucks. Plenty of parking but very pricey and confusing. Normally I like Hyatt. This one needs a makeover. Read less

They were very efficient at providing the buffet meals - almost too efficient. The minute ours plates were empty, they were removing everything, including cutlery and napkins. If you wanted seconds, there was a big waste of washing silverware and napkins. Our room had a nice view of the river. Housekeeping was spotty. The first day they arrived late afternoon. But they left extra items like dental flossers and makeup removers. However, they didn't replace those. Prices at the restaurant and bar were ridiculously high. We didn't eat or drink there. I chose the HR because I wanted a 4-star hotel overlooking Lady Bird Lake and close to Congress bridge. Our higher floor, Riverview room had spectacular views of the lake, beautiful city skyline and Congress Avenue Bridge. I considered a balcony room, but I liked the idea of seeing more of the city skyline from inside the room. The room was clean and the bed comfortable with soft sheets. The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The front desk asked at check in if we wanted daily housekeeping and I said “yes” knowing that daily cleanings are now sometimes by request only. We saw the Congress Bridge bats at sunset (takes about 10 minutes to walk over from the hotel). By the way, the best spots for viewing are around the pillars, where the bats fly out before taking off into the trees. There’s an onsite Starbucks in the hotel lobby which made grabbing a morning coffee or latte easy. The parking fee was expensive, but we knew that going in. It would have been nice if the hotel provided robes. Overall, this was an excellent choice based on our needs. Read less

This is a 17-story hotel, convenient within walking distance to many places in Austin. It is situated on the river, near the Congress Avenue Bridge where you can see the bats emerge each evening. We were within a mile of several great restaurants, including Terry Black's Barbecue. The room was clean and well-appointed, including plenty of outlets for charging and good lighting. However, there was no phone. Nowadays we don't need to use the hotel phone to call out, but there is no way to call the front desk, room service, etc. It had the look of having been renovated in the last few years. All of the rooms are entered from a triangular atrium. Even though the atrium itself can be noisy during busy times, the soundproofing is pretty good. The soundproofing to the exterior is also pretty good; we didn't hear noise except for maybe the odd siren here or there. However, the soundproofing between rooms is another story. The next room had a family with young children (we never saw them but they sounded under 10). Those kids were constantly yelling and laughing, until 11:30 PM. The rooms had connecting doors, and it sounded the kids were in our room. We did not eat in the restaurant but had drinks on the terrace overlooking the river. It is also just a walk down the stairs to the multi-use path along the river. Watch out for cyclists; there are a lot of them and none of them bother to warn to pass. There's an outdoor pool on the river side. It looked nice but we didn't use it. I don't know what the season is in Texas but it was open in late March for our visit. There is no bell service, but there are some luggage carts around if you need one. There is valet parking at extra charge. Blackout curtains are pretty effective. Bed pillow are fluffy, like down (I don't know for sure if they were down or synthetic, but as comfy as my down pillow at home). The bathroom has a single sink. The shower head was mounted rather low. I am just under 5'10" and could not stand directly under the shower head. They provide dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash on the wall. We took a taxi from the airport. There are generally not taxis waiting in front of the hotel but Uber and Lyft service is pretty good here. Read less

The room overlooking Lady Bird Lake was clean, comfortable, and quiet; mesmerizing view. Breakfast buffet was excellent, dinner menu very good, and Veronica's service in the bar very friendly and professional. Valet service was efficient and also set the positive tone. I'll back-best view in Austin. Read less
