Pre-booked and pre-paid for 5 nights at end of September. The lack of facilities turned a 5 star luxury stay into a 1 star misery. Restaurants, lounges and bars closed. No room service. Minimal room make up/cleaning. No concierge services. No cleaning of common parts. Waking up every day to chanting, drum banging and horn blowing pickets. Having to cross picket lines going in and out of hotel. The hotel offered to give us another room but explained this would make little difference to disturbance and would not be as large as the room we’d booked. No attempt to offer refund and help us find an alternative hotel. Management staff members on duty were polite but could only offer bland “we’re sorry” statements. No recognition that that they were offering only a tiny part of the facilities and quality we had paid for. I cannot comment on the rights and wrongs of the strike. But what I saw of the management’s ethics, competence and honesty, leads me to suspect that right is on the side of the strikers. Read less

Stayed 5 nights for my sons Wedding, everything was perfect, great location close to shops and restaurants, walkable to Stanley Park and close to Canada Place. Good size rooms for a city centre hotel, excellent staff and service throughout, worth the extra cost....

All the rest of the high end hotels have settled with the workers’ union for raises and the willingness to provide “emergency buzzers” to women cleaning rooms by themselves. Don’t stay here till they settle. The workers are the ones who keep everything clean!

First, I take responsiblity. We stayed here why the workers were on strike. I did not take this lightly as I called the hotel several times to get a sense of this. They did give me a free upgrade but it did not remotely make up for the horrible managers who did not want to be filling in for the regular staff. They hired horrible security personnel who were not remotely friendly and make you feel UNSAFE and UNWELCOME everytime you come and go. The managers running the front desk were exhausted and not remobely happy to ve filling in. The didn't want to hear about issue or complaints. They locked one of the entrances to the hotel so that the strikers would not strake at both doors, which was horribl for the guest. Because they were using temp staff or managers, one morning at like 6 AM they had a fire in the kitchen and all the fire alarms went off. The fire alarms were not clear that in fact it was a fire and so we were trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Only to find out we could not find light switches and the flash light they provided in the room was dead. The real kicker was that when they finally got the fire under control and the alarm off, we found out they could speak through the fire alarm and tell us that it was safe to go back to the room. Why in the world didn' they tell us this was a REAL fire and we needed to leave the room. All in all, when yo try to shoe string things together because you aren't willing to neogiate you get crappy service and experinece. So glad I wasted my money. Thanks for not appreicating me Rosewood Georgia Hotel. Read less
