Our room and the view overlooking the Pacific was one of the most dramatic ever. All of the staff, but particularly Anthony in the Sierra Mar restaurant, were friendly, helpful and great. The food was fantastic. Big Sur is one of the most special places on the planet and the Post Ranch Inn was designed to enhance the setting and protect the environment. You must stay here if you have the chance. Read less

First the good. I thought the service and everyone we encountered were terrific. Anything you needed was provided quickly. The views are stunning and the property is whisper quiet. We spent 4 nights and definitely enjoyed ourselves. However, the property is ridiculously overpriced for the simple reason that on Big Sur it’s them and the ventana and that’s it. For almost 2000 a night the rooms (Upper coast) are average at best. You need to be a gymnast to take a shower so be forewarned. How is there no easy entry into the tub? They have 2 beautiful small infinity pools overlooking the pacific but for some ridiculous reason they are both at hot tub temperatures. Why isn’t one cooler and refreshing, especially during the day? There are only a few restaurants in Big Sur so you have to really eat on property once or twice. We had two terrific meals albeit roughly 30% overpriced. The bottom line is Big Sur is a beautiful place to experience and Post ranch is exclusive and quiet and allows you to take in beautiful views of the pacific. For that privilege you are however grossly overpaying for what you get. I am happy to have experienced it once but not much reason to return. Read less

For a place where rooms start at over $1000 a night, you expect things to be exceptional. Our room was just mediocre - of minimalist design with simple furniture and a lack of comfort. The setting is peaceful and scenic but there were a number of other public spaces along the coast that were far more spectacular and where you could properly view the sunset. We stayed in more charming and memorable places during our road trip for a fraction of the Post Ranch Inn price. Disappointing. Read less

The location, high on a ridge along the coast, provides stunning views when the fog clears. Additionally, the property settles in a quiet valley punctuated with redwoods groves that offer exquisite serenity. The ‘room’ was a stand-alone 900 square foot ‘bungalow’ that offered incredible views towards the mountains. The privacy was unsurpassed. There’s even a private soaking tub. First class service at every turn. The restaurant provides epic views, when clear. Great wine selection. Spa experience was fantastic. Definitely will return. Read less
