Intercontinental Chicago

Chicago, USA

The hotel

There are few better properties from where to enjoy the sights of Chicago and if you're hoping to shop 'til you drop or check out Lake Michigan's beaches, the Intercontinental allows you to do so in style. Thanks to a fabulous location right in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, take a visit to the Navy Pier, John Hancock Tower and the Shedd Aquarium which are all within walking distance from your front door. A quick explore of the hotel uncovers a couple of restaurants for all-day dining and there's no better place to enjoy a succulent piece of prime beef other than Michael Jordan's Steakhouse. More sustenance can be found in the ENO bar which has a plentiful selection of wines and cheese, although the Michael Jordan bar is always popular around nightcap time. Finally, if you're thinking up excuses to have a cheeky massage in the Windy City then the Intercontinental's spa* will no doubt be able to twist your arm although, a dip in the indoor pool or a few moments in the sauna also offer equally relaxing alternatives.

Beautiful Hotel, located in the center of everything you could possibly want to do. Very friendly staff and willing to help. I do have to say though, we were there Thursday through Monday and our room wasn't serviced for trash or linens the entire time we were there even upon request. This was the only downfall though.

Stayed for a weekend and was extremely disappointed. Worst than a motel on a highway in the middle of the country. The Good: Location is fantastic. -Check in person was quite nice and the room was ready before 12:00 pm. -Beds were comfortable. The Bad: -Ridiculously outdated. Looks and smells old. -25 minutes to check in. One can tell the hotel is very understaffed. -Had to argue with a FD agent to obtain a 0 balance receipt at check out. His language was not the best, again they looked overwhelmed. -Room was tiny ( not worth the rate we paid ) and no amenities, 3 people in the room one robe. Plastic cups and rough towels. -The size of the bathroom is laughable. I would not not stay here again and I would warn people about it the whole experience quite underwhelming and nothing stood out. Extremely poor for an Intercontinental in such great city! Read less

Excellent hotel in downtown Chicago. Excellent room, courteous helpful staff. Hotel is close to downtown activities, easy walk to Navy Pier. Downside was lack of concierge, likely due to staffing due to pandemic.

First impressions are lasting impressions and the arrival from the doorman to valley, to bellman to checking was smooth and slick. You can checkin electronically also!!!! Suite was terrific and all aspects of room are first class. Saw many familiar faces and many smiles so leadership has continued to have a guest focused and service orientated team. Well done!!!! First, this is a beautiful hotel with a fantastic location. The staff that are here are working hard but are overwhelmed. They are clearly understaffed. I waited 25+ minutes to check in at 1pm on a Tuesday. Only one staff member was behind the desk, doing his absolute best. My room was in the Executive Tower. It was missing some of the usual amenities such as the floor mat for the bathroom and the laundry bag. Late at night a large crowd arrived (around 2AM) and hung out in the hallway and chatted loudly for at least 20 minutes. Another guest asked them to be quiet, which they complied for a while then a few came back out of their room and chatted again. Needless to say I was awake much of the night. For a business trip, paying extra for the Executive Tower at a hotel on Michigan Avenue, I had higher expectations. I’m hopeful they can staff up more soon and address some of these overlooked details. Read less
