Intercontinental Chicago

Chicago, USA

The hotel

There are few better properties from where to enjoy the sights of Chicago and if you're hoping to shop 'til you drop or check out Lake Michigan's beaches, the Intercontinental allows you to do so in style. Thanks to a fabulous location right in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, take a visit to the Navy Pier, John Hancock Tower and the Shedd Aquarium which are all within walking distance from your front door. A quick explore of the hotel uncovers a couple of restaurants for all-day dining and there's no better place to enjoy a succulent piece of prime beef other than Michael Jordan's Steakhouse. More sustenance can be found in the ENO bar which has a plentiful selection of wines and cheese, although the Michael Jordan bar is always popular around nightcap time. Finally, if you're thinking up excuses to have a cheeky massage in the Windy City then the Intercontinental's spa* will no doubt be able to twist your arm although, a dip in the indoor pool or a few moments in the sauna also offer equally relaxing alternatives.

The Intercontinental is a great hotel--walking into our room we were wowed!! My daughter is pretty quiet but she was so excited about being there. Great experience great staff. Loved the location of the hotel to the Navy Pier and downtown.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and it's always great. This last trip was during Covid 19 and even though things were strange in Chicago, the hotel did not disappoint. The staff (especially Malcolm) is exceptional - friendly, helpful and courteous.

There were three of us, so one of the beds was to fit two. When I signed up, the rooms were listed at having two Queens. When I arrived and checked in, I was asked if I wanted one King or two Queens. I chose two Queens again, but when we got to the room they were clearly Fulls. The next day I told the receptionist that we had Fulls not Queens. She insisted that they were Queens and that the hotel had only Queens and Kings, so I went back to the room and checked the mattress tag. Fulls. Next morning when I checked out I mentioned this, and she insisted that the hotel only had Fulls and Kings. The confusion at the desk was annoying, but if we hadn't been told Queens, we wouldn't have chosen Intercontinental. We didn't sleep well. Rooms were smaller than expected (compared to Sheraton). Didn't have room service or cleaning because of Corona. Front desk confusion already mentioned. Nice hotel, great location. Read less

Very satisficed. Not many at the hotel. Restaurants and bars were closed. Sad but understandable. The parking is a problem since it is extremely expensive near Michigan Ave. Rates between $40.00 and $ 55.00 for a 24 hours term is next to outrageous.

Have to qualify this review by saying it was newly opened after Covid-19 shutdown so restaurants not open and no room service or maid service but management very accommodating with fresh towels and trash removal and other requests
