The hotel

There are few better properties from where to enjoy the sights of Chicago and if you're hoping to shop 'til you drop or check out Lake Michigan's beaches, the Intercontinental allows you to do so in style. Thanks to a fabulous location right in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, take a visit to the Navy Pier, John Hancock Tower and the Shedd Aquarium which are all within walking distance from your front door. A quick explore of the hotel uncovers a couple of restaurants for all-day dining and there's no better place to enjoy a succulent piece of prime beef other than Michael Jordan's Steakhouse. More sustenance can be found in the ENO bar which has a plentiful selection of wines and cheese, although the Michael Jordan bar is always popular around nightcap time. Finally, if you're thinking up excuses to have a cheeky massage in the Windy City then the Intercontinental's spa* will no doubt be able to twist your arm although, a dip in the indoor pool or a few moments in the sauna also offer equally relaxing alternatives.

Great location! So much very close by! We met family here and it was a pleasurable experience! The staff was very attentive! I would highly recommend this property for ease of location and things to do.

We stayed at the InterContinental for a family leisure trip into Chicago. Beware, this hotel has two sections: The Grand Tower and The Executive Tower. The Grand Tower is filthy, and the Executive Tower leaves much to be desired. We stayed here n a King Suite in the Executive Towel and it was quite disappointing. Not cleaned well, amenities are those of a 2 star hotel. We actually had to request to have plastic bags put in waste baskets and to have linens/towels brought to the room. Most areas are under construction. I would not recommend this hotel- extremely overpriced for what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. You will be disappointed. Read less

Not only is the hotel great but the location is perfect! When I am downtown I always try to staybat the Intercontinental. Great hotel and close proximity to The Billy Goat and even better Rossi’s, an old school dive bar that is a must stop! I use the term dive bar with all respect to the establishment!

We spent two nights at the InterContinental. - Our arrival time Friday night ~ 6 pm was ill advised. It was impossible to drop off our luggage in front of the hotel as city buses prevented our access. I suggest that the hotel allow patrons to drop-off luggage and enter from the south side door when Michigan Ave drop-off is clogged; we tried, but the door was locked. This created a real hassle for us. - Our room (2060) had a very noisy fan. It should be replaced. We could sleep through it, but barely. - The free internet is not secure; as such, corporate VPN's are denied. I used my cell phone (T mobile) as a WIFI hot spot instead. - The hotel's restaurant breakfast prices are astronomical ... $17 for french toast ??? Sorry, we went elsewhere. - Nice TV. - Quiet. - Well stocked mini bar, but pricey. - Staff very courteous, especially front doorman. He was an older African-American gentleman; give that guy a raise.
