Very nice gym and indoor pool. Also walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping. It takes about 25-30 mins walk to magnificent miles. Overall, very comfortable stay. Make sure to get higher floor for quieter rooms. Read less

We visited for 6 nights during the last week of April 2022. This is a very large hotel and had a conference going on during this week, so it was busy with visitors. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel clerk gave us a free upgrade with a separate bed, bathroom - which was most appreciated. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. When I requested coffee and soap for our room, they responded and delivered these items to us within a half hour. The BEST THINGS about this hotel were: 1. the convenience to the museums and activities that we came to see. It was an easy walk to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Skydeck, Art Institute, Millennium Park, Riverboat tours, good restaurants, etc. And, there was a bus stop right outside at Balbo and Michigan Streets, so you can hop on a CTA bus to go anywhere, including the museum of science and industry. 2. The hotel had one of the best hotel gyms that I have ever seen with a complete line of modern exercise equipment - and there was even a track to jog around. The gym is located on the 8th floor. This was appreciated as the hotel became busy during the work week. 3. The food options. On the lobby floor, there was Kitty O'Sheas restaurant that we ate at during our first night and day. The food was good and prices reasonable. However, when the hotel got busy, we just ate at the Herb Kitchen, which offers grab and go/take out meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate here for most of our meals because we were often too tired to go out, it was convenient, the food was good and the prices were less expensive. 4. The hotel has a fascinating history to it. Many movie and TV shows have been filmed, at least in part, inside this hotel and the architecture of the hotel is stunning. 5. As I noted earlier, the hotel staff was great, professional and very helpful during our stay. 6. The hotel mattresses were outstanding and really helped us get a good nights sleep. To me, this was important since I sometimes have back pain. The only negative issues about this hotel are: It was a little noisy with sirens and cars honking down on the street. Fortunately, we were up on the 21st floor, so it wasn't too bad. Also, the room was a little stuffy and it took awhile for the room to cool down - this wasn't a problem for me, but it could be to someone else. Also, parking was expensive - I believe it was $65/night, but I've found this price to be similar in many larger city hotels and we had this included in our stay. Finally, there was construction outside the front entrance, which to me wasn't a problem, because we exited out the side, but some visitors may not be happy about it. Also, we were offered a room facing Lake Michigan, but it would have cost $34/night more, plus taxes, so we declined. Overall, we were very pleased with our hotel stay and we would stay here again if we visit Chicago in the future. Read less

We were there for 3 nights and had THE WORST experience with our room: it was dirty, very dusty, our TV stand had coffee stains, there was an old soda bottle in our fridge, an old dirty comb left behind, the bed sheets smelled, were discolored, stained and ripped, lamps were stained, full of dust and some topped with dead bugs (I’m tall and certain things I can’t miss .. Eww) We had a 2 bathrooms room but one of the showers was clogged so back to only one fully functional bathroom 🙄 The phone was stained, dirty, and not working. I mean ZERO pride and effort in having presentable and especially clean rooms. I have allergies to dust and dander so I was sick the entire time and consumed so much Benadryl. I Lysol wiped down all the dusty hard surfaces, but it wasn’t a fair battle with the dusty sofa/chair and carpet. Read less

Nice property. First time in Chicago and wanted to be near Grant Park. Unfortunately, we did not feel safe walking around the area. We heard that the city has a crime issue, but felt the presence especially when we took the train which was reasonable.
