The hotel

Situated just a block over from the Chicago River and the same again from North Michigan Avenue, you'll find yourself immersed in one of the Windy City's most vibrant shopping and entertainment districts with plenty of things to do all within walking distance. However, the adage why go out for burgers when you've got steak at home certainly rings true. No matter when you're planning on checking out the flame grilled options there's always time for a few sociable tipples with both ETA Restaurant + Bar and Streeterville Social providing a seductive selection of cocktails and bubbly. If you're feeling guilty for over indulging, then forget about it and go back for seconds! But if you simply have to let off some steam there's The Luxury Spa to help you glide back down to earth in time to do it all over again tomorrow.

Great hotel, very comfortable beds and rooms were generally nice. Breakfast options were great and we loved everything we ordered. It was cooked to perfection. Only issue was the water did not drain from our shower and I let them know at the front desk. Also the waiter that served our snacks after we checked in was not attentive and brought… Read more

Only issue was the water did not drain from our shower and I let them know at the front desk. Also the waiter that served our snacks after we checked in was not attentive and brought lukewarm tea when we requested extra hot tea and did not seem at all bothered by that. Loved the location. It was a quick 10 minutes walk to the River Cruise for dinner. Read less

There are many good hotels in Chicago; this is one of them. It’s a large, modern hotel, conveniently located just off the Chicago river. Staff are friendly, and the hotel has nice amenities-Starbucks, nice fitness center, lap pool. We stayed here three nights; rooms are comfortable, large, and quiet, nice bathrooms. Wifi is free. Recanting my prior review due to the disrespect encountered on our last night at this establishment. We were in town for a family event and on our last night got to see our nieces who came to visit us at the hotel around 9:00pm. We found seats by the fireplace and were enjoying some time with them and brought the remaining wine we had purchased 4 days prior down to finish before ordering anything from the bar. Unfortunately, a gal (dark pants, hair in a bun, coat/blazer) from the hotel came over and told us we had to leave as we were unable to stay in the area with the bar service open. We found a quite place to finish catching up with our nieces on the second floor where there was a couch and we could still take some photos. Again a gal (long ponytail, dark pants, coat/blazer) from the hotel came up to us and told us we had to leave and she stood there, arms folded, leaning against the railing with her feet crossed. Insulted, upset and embarrassed in front of our nieces whom we hadn’t seen for 9 years we walked them out and went up to our room since we weren’t allowed to occupy any open space for which we were paying a daily rate. Up at 5:00am to head out by 6:00am with very little sleep as the events of the of the prior evening were very bothersome to both of us. Upon reaching the desk for checkout the gentleman asks “Checking Out? Just toss you room keys here!” I asked for a copy of my bill and he stated “We will email it!” I said I would like a printed copy, he couldn’t address me/us by the correct name (his excuse was he was using the name of someone he just spoke to), We received our printed receipt and headed out to the Taxi we arranged for ourselves and couldn’t leave fast enough. Very disrespectful, a shame it ended so poorly. With the large number of very nice hotels in Chicago you would do better to chose one of those as opposed to this hotel which runs their guests out of the place. The best thing going on at this hotel is the concierge Gwen and the cleaning service Lily L who during our stay treated us very well. Read less

Love this hotel - the people, lobby, rooms and the people who work there are first rate. Especially love the bartenders - they are fun! Love that the rooms have windows that open for fresh air, such a nice addition - great location also - you can walk everywhere

We stayed at the Loews Chicago Hotel for a quick 3-day getaway in April, 2022. We know Chicago well and were excited to spend some time in town post-COVID restrictions. We always reserve a two-room suite when we travel, as my wife doesn't sleep through the night and always moves to the couch to watch TV at some point. We also prefer small, boutique accommodations rather than big hotels, so this was an exception to that preference. But, the reviews were great and turned out to be on the mark. Great hotel. Like-new condition. Stayed in a Lake View Suite on the 8th Floor and were very happy with the room and the view (we received an email prior to our stay offering an upgrade to a higher floor for a price, but we were fine with the floor we were assigned to.) Loved the automatic blackout shades and sheers; perfect for a hotel room. Very comfortable bed. Two robes in the room; iron and ironing board. Big bathroom with a great walk-in show plus a tub. The small fridge was just what we needed. There was no mini-bar, but I assume that will return at some point. Two tumblers and two wine glasses and several disposable cups; perfect. The location is great. There's a big Whole Foods conveniently located two short blocks away. We had late lunch on our arrival day and then got takeout our last day from MingHin, a big, nice Chinese Dim Sum restaurant just a few blocks away on Ohio with a huge menu. Walked to the Loop one day, some shopping on State Street, fabulous lunch at The Gage, Art Institute and Millennium Park, then Jose Andres' Jaleo for tapas at happy hour, followed by the 6pm music set at Andy's Jazz Club, our favorite spot in town, and just a 10-minute walk home afterward (in the drizzle; and our last day was a washout, which is why we got takeout and enjoyed our beautiful room for the day.) Only complaints: couldn't get into the WiFi the first day, and there are no instructions in the room or online to assist, and a text message to their front desk went unanswered (I get it, like everyone, they are short staffed.) And we would have gotten room service our last day, but didn't think they were offering it, as there was no reference to it being offered OR not anywhere, in the room, online or in the numerous emails we received. Also, the TV is an old-time hotel system, and extremely cumbersome to browse through the slow-to-react channel guide, and obviously satellite, because we lost the signal several times during the severe storms on our final day.
