Indigo Atlanta Midtown

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

There’s something suitably theatrical about Indigo Atlanta Midtown. It could be the vibrant colour scheme and theatre-inspired wall murals in the guestrooms. Or perhaps the red curtains swagged around the drinks in the bar. Or maybe the musical buzz that sweeps around the city and in through the hotel’s doors. Or perhaps it’s just its location, opposite Atlanta’s famous Fox Theatre. Whatever it is, it adds a sense of drama, decadence, and fun to your stay in the arts and entertainments district. It ticks all the traveller boxes, from a 24-hour fitness studio to complimentary WiFi and easy access to bars and restaurants, although the hotel’s unique flair attracts both visitors and locals to its own 683 Midtown Bar and Bistro, where popular Stateside dishes are enjoyed with local brews and handcrafted cocktails.

However full amount was debited (!) 1,5 month before our arrival. We contacted hotel several times (both via booking.com and hotel's email) in order to get our money back but all claims left unanswered as well as money are still with them (on the date of this review - 17 days). In the end we decided to cancel the reservation but still waiting for our money. Read less

That being said, they did a great job of updating the bathrooms with large showers, great water pressure, lighting, etc. Beds are very comfortable, and big squishy pillows. the location is fantastic for a stay while touring around town, walking out to find great restaurants and bars, and going to the fox. The staff was very friendly during all contacts and offered to assist with all needs. They are not as buttoned up as other higher end hotels, but that is a welcome change. The bar has a very limited wine list and not high end but stocked for cocktails. Read less

The hotel decor is great - in the lobby and rooms. The Fox Theater ticket wall behind the desk is awesome. The service was awesome and everyone was so helpful. The location is great for checking out some really awesome bars/restaurants in midtown.

I would leave less stars if applicable.  Check in took 45 minutes.  The bathroom is laughably tiny. As in, you can not even change your clothes in the bathroom because there is not enough room to move around.  My friends and I stayed in for the night as an escape from kids and to reconnect. Laying in bed at 10:00 on a Saturday evening and watching HGTV, we get a banging on our door. Scared the mess out of us. I looked through the peep hole and some guy wearing a beanie hat looking nervous was on the other side. He never announced who he was and we were not about to open the door to some stranger.  Then a call comes in saying there was a noise complaint against our room. I was like, what? We are in our pajamas about to fall asleep and watching HGTV. The rude girl at the front desk said, we had security knock at your door. To which I said, is it your policy to come bang at the door and not announce yourself before even the courtesy of a phone call? We didn’t know who this guy was.  Besides, we are not doing anything wrong. I think you have the wrong room.  I hang up in total disbelief and am flabbergasted at the poor handling all the way around.  Ten minutes later, a bang at the door again. I open it and it’s the security guy and now a manager (wearing flip flops-which really speaks to the level of professionalism)  letting us know that we need to leave the hotel , we are being kicked out due to a noise complaint.  I let him know that it is NOT us and we are not leaving. That he needs to contact the police to escort us out as this is a violation of our rights, having done nothing wrong and now being harassed.  He then tries to push open the door and force his way into the room. I pushed the door back and locked the security lock on the inside. He unlocks the door and tries to shove his way into the room again, but I had the security bolt on. I said, absolutely not.  There are four women in here, in our pajamas, you do not need to be in this room. We are collecting our things and leaving.  All this to say, that with absolute certainty, we 40 something year old women have NEVER been in a situation like this or treated so disrespectfully or rudely by hotel staff, or really anyone. Unbelievable is all we could say as we drove home at midnight.  Do not stay here.” “Update-we are speaking to a lawyer. My credit card was charged for not just the one night on the wrong date, but an additional full price charge for the correct date, a random $50 charge AND an additional $30 charge for parking that I already paid through my booking!” The hotels response was a blanket “so sorry”. They have not returned my phone calls or emails and have literally lied at their recounting of events. Thankfully we have video of all of this that took place. Read less

Saturday night will be first and only night every staying at an IHG property. We had a girls night in the city for a friend's birthday, joined my 3 friends after they checked into the hotel. First thing you notice is that you can hear EVERYTHING from EVERY room EVERYWHERE. It's just so poorly soundproofed - and that was where it all just went sideways. We were four 40 yr old women in a hotel room watching HGTV in our pajamas and cracking jokes and literally just having an adult slumber party. Apparently there was a noise complaint - not surprising given that we could hear a couple at the other end of our floor planning their trip to the zoo - while standing at the elevator. we - in our room - were not aware of this because no one called our room from the front desk. Instead there was a banging on our room door. My friend went to look through the peephole and it was a man in a coat and a beenie just standing outside our door banging on it. He wasn't wearing anything that associated him with the hotel, he didn't announce himself or say why he was knocking on our door or that he was from the hotel. He just stood outside and banged on our door for a few minutes. Naturally - we didn't answer - as 4 women in a Midtown Atlanta hotel with a random strange man banging on our door. He finally went away and then a call came from downstairs announcing they had sent security. My friend told the woman we didn't know and didn't answer the door but that we understood the hotel had thin walls and we would happily try to be quieter. About 10 minutes later there is another loud knocking on the door. Another man - who announced himself as the on property manager - asked if he could speak with us. My friend opened the door and he said we were being asked to leave for a noise complaint. Seriously? Just out of the blue. No communication. No warning. No nothing. Just "you have to leave". My friend asked what we had done wrong and he said we were too loud. We were all just in shock. He mentioned that if we needed to be escorted out by the police that could be arranged. We told him we would need a minute to pack up and started to close the door - this man then tried to push into the room full of four 1/2 dressed women so he could basically"stand guard" while we tried to change and pack our things. Thankfully my friend shut the door and hit the safety bolt. We were all shaken because, as a reasonable person, the way this situation was handled was just completely bungled from the get go. As a nice parting note, the "security guard" that was send to our room was smirking and making faces at us as we were leaving. On top of it all my girlfriend that booked the room was charged twice for the room (2 $197 charges). Charged $30 for parking when it was included in the room rate she booked. Charged a random $50 fee with no explanation. And - because they shut off our room cards as we were leaving - she had to pay to exit the parking garage and was charged the lost card fee of $60 in the parking garage. I have been a Diamond Hilton member and a Platinum Starwood member and an extensive traveler - including 5.5 years on the road as a consultant 4 days a week. This is the SINGLE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I have ever had anywhere in any country by any hotel brand. I am always open to trying new hotels and brands and programs, but this experience has turned me off of IHG for life. Read less
