Inn at Bay Point

New Hampshire, New England

The hotel

Adirondack chairs around a fire pit. Barefoot strolls on the boardwalk. Boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. Dining on waterfront decks. With 1,000 square foot of shore, 14 acres of lawns, and sandy swimming spots, this is lake living at its most luxurious. Four quaint inns form Meridith’s ‘Mill Falls on the Lake’ – including Bay Point. A cosy waterside inn, it has just 24 rooms but access to all four properties’ treats, including Mill Falls Marketplace’s dining and shopping, 3 pools, 5 hot tubs, a spa, and the activity centre. The Inn at Bay Point has lakeview rooms and Lago, a fine Italian dining venue where evenings open with 4.00pm appetisers and cocktails, and close with dinners and late-night bites on a deck teetering over the lake.

My guestroom here was lovely and the staff I interacted with were delightful. I enjoyed having a balcony view of the lake and the convenience of being right in downtown Meredith. Parking was simple. The rooms were pretty well-appointed and, again, freshly redesigned. At the same time, I didn't entirely enjoy my experience for two main reasons: 1. The first room I was assigned was directly over the bar which was playing loud music until 11 pm. The level of soundproofing was such that I could hear all the words to all the songs. I asked for and received another room one floor higher could not longer hear the bar, though late on a Friday it took 25 minutes for someone to come and let me into my new room (there is no staff on-site late at night) 2. The balconies that face the lake are also right next to the fairly busy road that goes right through the center of town and are not well-insulated, so there was traffic and truck noise all day and night. For people used to traffic noise this might be no big deal but if you're expecting idyllic and serene, you'd be better off at Church Landing. I really enjoyed all the funky little book-filled spaces in this building and, again, all the staff I dealt with went above and beyond to make sure my stay was a nice one. Read less

Fabulous hotel. Room was beautiful with fabulous view and there was a birthday present left for me on our arrival. They don't do breakfast there and we only had a 5 minute walk to Church Landing for breakfast and this was really beautiful as well.

Pros of this hotel: Spacious double room with large bathroom and veranda with chairs overlooking the lake. Very good restaurant attached to the guest area which gives preference to bookings by guests. Downstairs tea and coffee facilities with seating area Cons: Rather a strange set-up with just a reception and bedrooms. There was no-one on reception when we arrived, so we had to walk across the road to the main hotel, Inn at Mill Falls, to get checked in. Breakfast is not served on the premises - you have to cross a busy road to another restaurant. Read less

We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Bay Point. I visited friends throughout the Mills Falls complex (Church Landing, Chase House, Inn at Mills Falls) and found our room was best appointed. Comfy king bed, cute window seat, and large bathroom. We'd love to return!

Stayed here for two nights on a recent trip in New Hampshire to see the fall foliage. The room was lovely, apparently having just been re-decorated not long ago. The nautical theme was perfect. At this price point, a breakfast should be offered to the guests at Bay Point IN Bay Point. We were offered the opportunity to walk, or drive, down to the Church Landing facility, for a continental breakfast, but opted to go to a nearby diner for a full, hot, made-to-order breakfast. The restaurant on the main level of Bay Point, Lago, is very noisy, but the dinner we had there one evening was delicious. The service was also commendable. Read less
