The hotel

Most come to New Orleans for the exuberance and elegance of the French Quarter, and this hotel places you right in the thick of it. Just blocks from Bourbon Street, it’s also your way into The Big Easy’s other lures: gumbo, jazz and blues, Mississippi steamboat sounds, even Mardi Gras if you time things right, fill surrounding streets. But Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter is more than its prime Royal Street address. Inside you’re treated to the French Quarter’s only indoor pool, a terracotta-tiled sanctuary with views of both the adjoining hotel gym and New Orleans itself. Downstairs, Deuce McAllister’s Ole Saint Kitchen & Tap serves southern dishes like BBQ shrimp, local and regional craft beers, and Louisiana-inspired cocktails, with both the restaurant and sports lounge infused in Deep South hospitality.

When booking this hotel, I agonized a bit, as the location says Central Business District, so I worried it would be a bit of a walk to the French Quarter. Turns out you can see Bourbon Street from the hotel entrance, so it is about a 4 minute walk to Bourbon Street. The lobby looks great, the rooms were small but very clean. The front desk staff was wonderful especially the woman who helped us check out. When we arrived it took us about 15 minutes to track down the valet, it seemed like reception also wasn't sure how to track down the valet, so we waited in the lobby for quite a while waiting for our car to be parked. Since there isn't a garage, valet is the only option. Only downside was the loud distractions. Walls that border the hall are very thin, we were woken up multiple times during the night by loud groups of people wandering down the hall screeching (it seems there was a real estate conference in town, so lots of people drinking). Also, the maids were extremely eager to clean our room. They knocked on our door repeatedly at 8:30 the day of our checkout to see if we had left yet. They looked very confused when we answered the door. Then they came back again knocking at 9:00 and still looked confused when we answered the door. Not everyone wants to be woken up at 8:30 on a Sunday morning in the French Quarter by housekeeping. Would be great if they went off a list of people who had actually checked out. Read less

Regardless of what brings you to New Orleans, this is the spot to stay. The location and hospitality are on point!! They are courteous and helpful as well as very accommodating! If you want to walk, you're right there, and if you prefer a lift, there is always one just moments away!

It’s a bit small on overall space in the hallway, but in NO - it often what you get. Room was very clean and quiet. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Good price and location- just off Canal St. close walking distance to the super dome, Smoothie King and the FQ
