Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter

New Orleans, Louisiana

The hotel

Most come to New Orleans for the exuberance and elegance of the French Quarter, and this hotel places you right in the thick of it. Just blocks from Bourbon Street, it’s also your way into The Big Easy’s other lures: gumbo, jazz and blues, Mississippi steamboat sounds, even Mardi Gras if you time things right, fill surrounding streets. But Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter is more than its prime Royal Street address. Inside you’re treated to the French Quarter’s only indoor pool, a terracotta-tiled sanctuary with views of both the adjoining hotel gym and New Orleans itself. Downstairs, Deuce McAllister’s Ole Saint Kitchen & Tap serves southern dishes like BBQ shrimp, local and regional craft beers, and Louisiana-inspired cocktails, with both the restaurant and sports lounge infused in Deep South hospitality.

My girlfriends and I flew in from ATL for a girls trip weekend! At the hotel bar we were greeted by the two funny bartenders Liam and Craig. They set the mood with some Mai Tis and Pimm’s Cups. Mark the Chef brought out the best Baba ghanoush and hummus that I’ve ever had! The pita bread was warm and toasty. We took an Uber to Tipatina’s and saw the Soul Rebels play. What a show! This hotel has a great location. Right in the middle of everything. Close to the French quarter, but not too close. The bed was super comfortable. The hotel over all was very clean. After being out all night with my girls, it was really nice to wake up to the all you can eat breakfast buffet and hot coffee! You can order food from the kitchen at not extra cost. I got the open faced egg and prosciutto toast. Chef Denise brought it right to the table. Excellent service! We can’t wait to come back to the AC NOLA! Read less

Great location. Comfortable beds and friendly staff. We were greeted warmly by the staff from the beginning. You can’t beat the location. Hotel was clean. The only negative is we wanted to meet Tyler the bartender due to all his reviews, but we was not working on that Saturday? We had to show him how to make one. However, I’d stay here again. Read less

The room is beautiful but don't expect a microwave for the large portion foods you will likely be taking back to your room. Staff is very nice and always greet you with a smile. Please be patient as they are hiring and training new people as tourism ramps up. Valet is pretty slow but they are doing what they can. Back to the room, the walls are thin and the doors are heavy so be prepared to hear other conversations and laughter and bumps over your head as well as doors slamming through the night. The bed is hard so if you like that kind of thing, good for you. I don't. I have a crook in my neck/shoulder as a souvenir. Other than that, the modernization of the room and the friendliness of the staff makes for an average review. Read less

The room was dark and tiny, with a “view” of the parking garage next door- which meant high beams in your room until really late. This was an UPGRADED room mind you, hard to imagine what the regular rooms look like. But that was ok because of all the drunken adults screaming in the hallway until 3-4 AM. And to make things worse, all of the common areas absolutely stink like reefer, lobby/elevators/ front door…my clothes ACTUALLY smelled! And reaching out to local management got you NOWHERE. This place is a DOG! If you’re having your bachelor Party and don’t care about sleep or standards then this is probably you’re kind of place, it IS three blocks from Bourbon St. But if you’re not looking to stay at a Frat House then pick ANY of the dozens of hotels within 5 blocks. I’ve got well over 1,000 nights just in Marriott properties, this is a certifiably rotten hotel. Read less

We arrived in NOLA for a long weekend getaway, excited at the prospect of an upgraded king room within walking distance of the Quarter - instead we checked into the loudest dorm at a crappy college. We made our way from the curb to the front desk through the stench of marijuana smoke. Checked in and took the elevator, also reeking of weed, to our room on the 5th floor only to find the front desk clerk had sent us to the wrong room - this is the first 10 minutes of our stay. After another trip downstairs through the reefer scented halls/elevator/ lobby, we finally got into our shoebox sized room that looked directly into the broken windows of the parking garage next door. This was after getting a Marriott Titanium upgrade AND using a suite night rewards. Can’t imagine how lousy a regular room would be. This double upgraded room was totally disappointing, cramped and dark. Went to meet friends and family for dinner came back and we’re treated to people screaming in the hallway until 3:30 am. The next day made an effort to contact hotel management. No joy. We called the front desk; no answer. Texted via the app and after 60 minutes of being ignored, called the Titanium line, where we were instructed to go back and talk to the desk clerk, not the manager. Attempted to do so and got ignored by the desk clerk for almost 10 minutes. After 90 minutes of frustration we gave in and accepted the fact that we had checked into an absolutely awful hotel. Several hours later got a VM from the manager filled with platitudes and inaction. If you’re the kind of person who wants to spend their travel dollars staying at the “Animal House” then this is the hotel for you. Otherwise, spend your hard-earned money and/or Marriott points someplace where they have some level of standards. This hotel is one step above sleeping in your car. Read less
