Image of the Tripadvisor rating Beautiful Historical Hotel, Great Location, Zero Modern Conveniences

I would not recommend more than 2 people per room as the rooms are very small and the bathrooms are smaller. No gift shop. No restaurant. No ice machine or vending machine. SLOW elevators. However the staff is friendly and the hotel is lovely and in a great location.

Lovely hotel. I look forward to going back to Boston and staying there again. It was a very good location, comfortable beds, clean rooms, and friendly staff. My friends and I especially enjoyed the complementary wine tasting in the afternoon. Also, a great value.

This was my first stay here. I am solidly torn on the hotel. Customer service is excellent. Room Is extremely cozy. I stayed in room 402 which is a king room. This was my first stay here. I am solidly torn on the hotel. Customer service is excellent. Room Is extremely cozy. I stayed in room 402 which is a king room. It’s fine for me because I’m traveling for work and not spending much time in my room. If I was traveling with my husband it would be too cramped for me. Bathroom is small, which I’m fine with when I have plenty of room to spread out my beauty products. This room did not have enough counter space for my straightener and basic makeup. Shower head had decent pressure which is a rare find in a hotel but the head was also broken and wouldn’t allow me to adjust the height or angle of the spray so I had to stand directly under it super close to the wall. My room was tucked into a corner so it’s super private and quiet but there is no view, just of the fire escape. There is a continental breakfast in the morning which is a sad excuse for a breakfast. The wallpaper in my room was peeling off the walls but the room seemed otherwise well maintained. It is an old building and that adds to the charm of the hotel. It is centrally located to a lot of stuff so you can easily get around by foot. So, just depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a modern hotel with big rooms, this isn’t the place for you. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We couldn’t check-in when we arrived due to issues with the booking system, they happily stored our bags while we went out for the day, upon return we were checked in but not told anything about the hotel, local area etc. we found out by accident about the breakfast and didn’t know about the wine, after we returned. The breakfast was ok, for a quick snack prior to going out but wouldn’t be enough for a long day as a tourist. We had a good-sized room in top floor, which was clean and well maintained. It was slightly strange (this was the only hotel in a 10 hotel road trip) not the have any coffee facilities in the room or fresh coffee available in the reception area. On returning one evening the hotel staff offered bottles of water, which was much appreciated. However, a couple of hours later, at 1am, we were woken but by a Pizza delivery on the 10th floor! We complained to the reception and they said that they’d investigate it but that was the last that we hear. Read less
