The hotel

Offering stunning views of the Boston skyline in a beautiful riverside setting, the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel prides itself on personalised service and exceptional accommodation. There's a whole host of things to see and do in the immediate area but the hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as the highly regarded Bambara Restaurant and Bar. A great place to relax, admire river views as you recline in deep-cushioned booths and feast on American brasserie-style cuisine. There's an emphasis on seafood dishes, accompanied, of course, by some very fine wines. Across the street from the hotel are unpaved trails, ideal for jogging, walking, biking and skating - the hotel offers complimentary bikes so grab one and explore. How about the setting, does the water tempt you? If so, there are also kayaks for complimentary use if you fancy paddling your way downstream. The Kimpton Marlowe is reasonably priced and in a good location to take the T to the North End. It is near the Lechmere station on the green line, two stops away from the North End. We did not walk around the area where the hotel was located, except to go to the T station, as we spent more time in other areas. The hotel is across from the Museum of Science parking garage. Pros: the staff are very friendly and helpful. Self-parking is $30 in a covered garage (shared with CambridgeSide Mall). The hotel has an elevator that goes directly to the garage. On check-out day, the parking continued until 3pm, so we did not have to leave right away. Cons: bed was very hard, towels scruffy and the shower pressure was just okay. We also could not turn the temperature down past 65, and while this may not seem like a big deal in winter, the room was too hot for sleeping. None of this made our stay particularly difficult, and we managed, but I think I was expecting it to be luxurious based on what I had read. I was also not a huge fan of the daily fee of $25 (printing, $10 food credit, polaroid cameras), but given the reasonable rate we had on the room, it was not a big deal to us. We ate breakfast in Bambara's, the hotel restaurant, and it was very good, but cost $44 with tip, for two omelets and coffee. All in all, a good, solid choice, but definitely not a luxury choice. As always, location is key, so it depends on where you are planning to visit while in Boston. Read less

I stay at the Marlowe at least twice a year when I go to Cambridge on business. It's always a pleasant experience. I tried ordering several things that were listed on the menu and they told me they didn't have it during the lunch hour although they were listed on the lunch menu on the TV. Other than that, the ambiance, staff, rooms, etc is always superb. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great price, clean and good location for business

I have business in Boston and Cambridge once a year and this is convenient for using as a "home" base. It is clean, more cost effective than most hotels in the area and there is decent food (and drink) available if I'm not out with clients. I can also have clients meet me there.

I’m not much for hotels these days as the AirBnB / VRBO experience is usually much better for a fraction of the cost. I’m not much for hotels these days as the AirBnB / VRBO experience is usually much better for a fraction of the cost. Sometimes there just are not many, if any, options for short-term rental which leaves one seek the usually over priced and certainly overrated hotel room. In the case of the Kimpton Marlowe hotel in Cambridge (Boston), MA you will not be disappointed. The service is excellent and the hotel is clean and stylish. The rooms are nice size, stylish and well appointed. The location is such that you can walk to any of Boston’s famous tourist sites without much effort. The neighborhood is very clean and very safe. The hotel restaurant is not great but not terrible. Like most hotel restaurants the food is over priced and lacks creativity and enthusiasm. The hotel gym is barely adequate but is better than nothing. If the hotel offered a better dinning choice and a great gym I’d give it 5 stars, but the mediocre effort on these two items begs the loss of at least one star. All-in-all, hotel junkies and even diehard AirBnB’ers will find the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in Cambridge worthy of earning your hard earned $. Read less

The staff were very eager to help and were great (except my check out guy). Every day they have happy hour from 5.00-6.00pm with great wine and we also had a special Halloween drink which was a vodka mix and very nice. The rooms were big and the bed was very comfortable and the tv was huge and high quality. The only negative I have is regarding the shower which was a bit weak in pressure but it was hot at least!! I would definitely recommend this place. The bar is always busy at night and a good place to escape. Read less
