The hotel

Offering stunning views of the Boston skyline in a beautiful riverside setting, the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel prides itself on personalised service and exceptional accommodation. There's a whole host of things to see and do in the immediate area but the hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as the highly regarded Bambara Restaurant and Bar. A great place to relax, admire river views as you recline in deep-cushioned booths and feast on American brasserie-style cuisine. There's an emphasis on seafood dishes, accompanied, of course, by some very fine wines. Across the street from the hotel are unpaved trails, ideal for jogging, walking, biking and skating - the hotel offers complimentary bikes so grab one and explore. How about the setting, does the water tempt you? If so, there are also kayaks for complimentary use if you fancy paddling your way downstream. We arrived in Boston on a Sunday around 12:30pm after a 3 hour drive...My wife called the hotel and asked if we could get an early check-in...Woody told her yes, and upon arrival he couldn't have been any nicer...My wife asked if there was any way we could get a room with a view as it's been a while since we were able to escape from the kids for a few days and Woody put us on the top floor with a view of the canal !!! Since the nearest subway stop was approx 10 mins away we walked to and from Faneuil Hall / Boston Common each day (about 25 mins each way) along side the Charles River...Wonderfully scenic and peaceful walk. It was also nice having the Cambridgeside mall connected to the hotel. The self parking fee of $30 kinds of sucks, but when you go to a major city that's actually not too high compared to others, and since I'm not a fan of waiting / tipping for my vehicle every time I want to leave the hotel it was a great option to have...The parking was a bit confusing when we first arrived, but after the first day it was easy to figure out after familiarizing ourselves with the layout. My wife pointed out, and I have to agree, that this was the cleanest hotel room we could recall staying in. If we went back to the area we'd certainly stay here again. Read less

Monty made made our arrival very special and helped us throughout the stay, he delivers outstanding service and exceeded our expectations by far. We are staying in an executive suite on the 6th floor, which has great river view. We will definitely come back. The employees here are professional and friendly, and the hotel is running very well. All our requests are addressed quickly, the room is very new and clean at all time (housekeeping is amazing). We are thankful for this amazing experience. We look forward to trying this or the other rooms during our next stay. Read less

I feel at home with all the front office staff constantly keeping track of everyone’s needs, questions and finding quick solutions for any situation or need for any guest. It almost feels as if all their attention is to you solely. Thank you kind staff of Kimpton Marlowe, I consider you friends and family for all the great care throughout my long term stay at the Kimpton Marlowe. Monty, Jess , Woody, Alina, Lauren, Ana Belle, Paige, Christina, Sean, Ana belle , Mike, Jose, Brandon & E Doormen, my favorite guys to enter home, on any given morning or afternoon. Their are many others that are not to be forgotten, if I forgot to mention please let me know ! Because everyone here is great and worth the time to write about. Especially with new staff being trained, how quickly they adapted into the environment; shows the level of care they instill on everyone that enters these doors. Bathrooms are nice. So are the cabinets with enough useful space. The location close proximity to a mall, museum of Science, & most of all Charles River makes it ideal for guests who enjoy shopping, visiting, walking, running, kayaking or biking along the trail by the river. They also have complementary bikes & Kayaks . Hats off to Jessica for her helpful & welcoming gesture. She made our vacation experience unbelievable with an upgrade that gave us a view of Boston skyline from our room. The hotel’s restaurant, Bambara, has good food with $10 daily food and beverage credit. Throughout our stay, Aklilu & Tedi, who are always by the door, are very friendly who go out of their way to help. Monte, who I found him to be precise on what he does, is also helpful and welcoming - a good fit for the job. Gett Read less

Let me just say that I have never reviewed anything before because I am lazy. And I apologize for the novel. I work in the hospitality industry in the Napa Valley and times are definitely tough in terms of staffing. When we pulled up to the hotel, we were greeted by a very nice man who offered to get us a luggage cart and unloaded the entire car before my boyfriend and I had even jumped out to help. He graciously directed me to the front desk while my boyfriend went to return our rental car. I checked in and was (always will be) a hot mess and very discombobulated. Woody checked me in and gave me some extremely pertinent info regarding transportation to the airport as we have to leave very early in the morning. He told me how unreliable they can be these days and encouraged me to talk to the gentlemen who helped me with our bags as they can get a cab usually within 15 minutes. I was grateful, grabbed a bottle of wine while I was down there, and made my way to our room with all of our stuff, noting that after I was settled to talk to the guys downstairs to figure out transportation for the next morning. I promptly threw my purse and BOTH room keys on the bed and ran to grab my bags when I realized my door slammed and locked me out. GREAT. I ran downstairs where Woody & Monty re-greeted a panicked me. Next to them was Aklilu & Theo who were already ON THE PHONE WITH A TAXI SERVICE GETTING ME A FREAKIN TAXI FOR 5:30 IN THE MORNING!!! Not only did they get me a taxi, but they got me his DIRECT CELL PHONE NUMBER so I can call him if need be. And they did this all at the same time as Monty was getting me a new room key. Another quick note, there are TWO weddings being hosted here this weekend and this place is completely booked. These guys took their time on a very busy Friday night to help hot-mess-tourist-me. I haven’t even opened my wine yet because I am so impressed with the initiative and general (sincere) warmth I have received. Unmatched. Oh yeah, these rooms rock. It’s a Kimpton—duh. Hannah Read less
