The hotel

Offering stunning views of the Boston skyline in a beautiful riverside setting, the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel prides itself on personalised service and exceptional accommodation. There's a whole host of things to see and do in the immediate area but the hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as the highly regarded Bambara Restaurant and Bar. A great place to relax, admire river views as you recline in deep-cushioned booths and feast on American brasserie-style cuisine. There's an emphasis on seafood dishes, accompanied, of course, by some very fine wines. Across the street from the hotel are unpaved trails, ideal for jogging, walking, biking and skating - the hotel offers complimentary bikes so grab one and explore. How about the setting, does the water tempt you? If so, there are also kayaks for complimentary use if you fancy paddling your way downstream. Spacious guest rooms are idea for larger groups and families are very well catered for with welcome packs for the kids.

I booked the Kimpton Marlowe for a weekend trip back home with my boyfriend. I chose the Kimpton because I'm fond of the brand and the location in Cambridge. It's convenient to the airport, the train system, Downtown Boston and Cambridge. The room on the 3rd floor was big enough. The bed was hard, but it wasn't terrible. We had breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel and it was great. The walls are thin. At 2:30am we were woken up by what sounded like a group of girls chatting. We had to bang on the wall to get them to be quiet. Luckily they took the hint. We wanted ice to partake in some beverages from the mini bar. The ice buckets don't have plastic lining in them, gross. They need better signage for the hotel entrance. Two of my ubers drove right past it. Currently there's a sign that reads Kimpton Marlowe parking but it doesnt tell drivers to enter to pick up passengers. Parking was a nightmare. We opted for overnight valet. They say you should call 15 - 20 min ahead for your car. We called at 11:35am. At first I would put on hold by the front desk. After waiting for 5 minutes while they "helped another guest" I got tired of waiting so I hung up and called right back. When I called back they took my ticket number and indicated we should wait 15 minutes. It was 11:40am. We went downstairs at 12pm to check out. The line was awful. I get check out time is 12pm but they should get with the times and staff up or slip receipts under guests doors to expedite this. We tried the check out feature on the TV and it didn't work. At 12pm our car still wasn't ready. I tried to get in line to check with the front desk but there were 10 people ahead of me waiting to be helped by 2 people behind the desk. We then went to the valet and he told us the front desk FORGOT TO CALL OVER TO REQUEST MY CAR. How absurd after waiting the designated time. They assured us that the car would come up right away. At this point we were getting antsy because we had a 1:30 PM flight to catch. Our car eventually came up at 12:11 pm. Very frustrating. Read less

Very good and clean hotel. Great staff and great location. Very pleased with hotel and room. Word of warning though, beware of the strategically placed unknowingly priced 9 dollar bottle of water next to the bed!! Other than that couldn't fault the hotel.

Staff were wonderful and gracious, our room was ready early and beautifully appointed and of course super clean. We stayed in an executive suit with fantastic views of the river. The room was spacious and the bed was hard to leave. My only compliant, and this is universal for most hotels, why so few hooks in the bathroom? We want to conserve, but have no where to hang the towels...it's a little thing and so minor. I had also forgotten all that Cambridge has to offer; go to Little Donkey for brunch and Oleana for dinner! Or any of the many wonderful choices. We had a night cap in Bambara, terrific cocktails. What can I say, we didn't want to leave and this will be our new go to in Boston! Read less

Great family getaway for the weekend. Lovely hotel, spacious well appointed room, staff super friendly!! Right next-door to Museum of science, and Quick walk to beautiful views along the Charles River, great walking/running loop right from the hotel. Hummus plate with roasted veg in the hotel restaurant Bambara was amazing!!!
