The hotel

Offering stunning views of the Boston skyline in a beautiful riverside setting, the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel prides itself on personalised service and exceptional accommodation. There's a whole host of things to see and do in the immediate area but the hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as the highly regarded Bambara Restaurant and Bar. A great place to relax, admire river views as you recline in deep-cushioned booths and feast on American brasserie-style cuisine. There's an emphasis on seafood dishes, accompanied, of course, by some very fine wines. Across the street from the hotel are unpaved trails, ideal for jogging, walking, biking and skating - the hotel offers complimentary bikes so grab one and explore. How about the setting, does the water tempt you? If so, there are also kayaks for complimentary use if you fancy paddling your way downstream. Spacious guest rooms are idea for larger groups and families are very well catered for with welcome packs for the kids.

The check-in was painfully slow and interrupted by the gentleman helping another guest in the middle of my check-in. The room was fine. Unfortunately there was an adjoining door with the next room. Next door was a little dog who barked-and then the owner would yell at it to stop. Even at 10:00 pm. I’ve stayed at Kimpton before and this is not what I’ve come to expect. Read less

Amazing property with fantastic staff. From valet, to check-in the staff is very good. The property is beautiful and in a great location. The restaurant on site is fantastic. Really enjoy that Kimpton property. All employees seem to really care about providing a great guest experience.

I will start with the positives about the hotel. It is a really lovely, well kept hotel, with really attractive and comfortable and big rooms in a great location. The beds are comfy, linens upscale, bathroom updated, views (at least those that face the river) amazing - definitely a top hotel experience!! The minor negatives are: one or two unfriendly front desk staff (they did nothing wrong, but just weren't terribly welcoming), extra charge to use their computer for 15 min to print out 3 pages of a legal document and a weird entrance, currently surrounded be scaffolding (not their fault). That said, I would absolutely stay here again . Read less

We (husband, son, I, and two dogs) came for one night while visiting the area for college tours, staying in a two queen bed room. We preferred this Cambridge location and hotel to the Nine Zero in Boston. I’ve found that hotels that have recently become part of the Kimpton family lack the funk factor I cherish. This property, while not creatively themed, was very nice. You pull off the busy main road into the circular inner courtyard to check in. We valet parked for $40 cash with in/out privileges. The lobby is large, clean, and inviting. The people working here were great, offering our dogs treats and tennis balls. Our room, which faced the canal, was large and spectacularly clean. Beds were comfortable. There was adequate storage space and an empty fridge. My son appreciated the large SMART tv on which he could stream his shows. We didn’t hear any noise from connecting rooms. The bathroom was spacious and basic. One reason I didn’t award 5 bubbles is bc they were stingy with towels and no wash cloths were provided. There was a lipstick-looking mark on the shower curtain. My other issues were no dimmer light in bathroom and no discernible fan to cool room. We all remarked we’d appreciate air circulation. The windows do not open even a crack. Breakfast at the attached Bambara restaurant was good and priced at what you’d expect for a hotel restaurant. For dinner we got take out at the close by Cheesecake Factory and ate at the lobby tables. In addition to CF, the attached mall has a small food court. I walked all over with the dogs; there’s plentiful green space by the canal next to the hotel. There aren’t many restaurants or cafes in quick walking distance. A pick-up only Starbucks is a 5-minute walk. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay when traveling again with our dogs. Read less
