The hotel

Once home to the Boston Police Headquarters, Loews Boston Back Bay Hotel is a haven of charm, sophistication and traditional New England hospitality, right in the heart of Boston's city centre. Formerly home to the old Boston Police Headquarters, this 1920's landmark is a piece of history in itself, a magnificent tribute to the city's long forgotten past. Ideally situated between 3 of the city's most sought after neighbourhoods, the South End, the Theatre District and the Back Bay, this hotel is the perfect place to hang your hat after a hard day of exploring. This hotel might be convenient, but it's much more than just a base. Each of the 225 guestrooms combine luxury, comfort and elegance to ensure the most comfortable stay. As well as state-of-the-art facilities, each beautifully renovated guestroom features soft lighting, modern decor and furnishings and decadent Frette bed linen. If you can bear to leave the comfort of your room, why not mingle with the locals and get a feel for the real Boston as you sample some delicious New England fare at the Precinct Kitchen and Bar, or venture out to enjoy a spot of retail therapy at nearby Newbury Street.

My significant other and I had a nice stay at the Loews in Boston. It was a very nice stay room, which we actually got an upgrade for (which I assume isn't difficult for them in times of covid), included parking, and the location was excellent- very walkable for a nice dinner in north end. Additionally the staff were very friendly and efficient. They also included a free uber voucher and offered $20 off at their local restaurant, which I probably would have taken them up on if we hadn't had other dinner plans. Overall nice comfortable stay, safe practices, and thoughtful service. Would do it again. Read less

Fantastic two-night stay in Boston over Labor Day weekend. Hard products were very much on point. However, the staff were the highlight. Maeve booked us a VERY last minute Boston Harbor Distillery Tour. The on the spot booking really made the stay in Boston memorable! Similar to most hotels during COVID, there isn't daily housekeeping (though you can request clean towels) but that was not an issue for us. Read less

The building (former police HQ) was very interesting and it is a nice building, but perhaps in the events of Covid-19, all services are scaled back, including staffing and all that should have come with the brand. First, there is no valet parking, and the parking lot that the hotel has affiliation with (not free) is one that is quite far away - upshot is that you will get your 5000 fitbit steps going to and from the parking lot already; if you have luggage, you are out of luck, as the former police HQ is still not outfitted with any ramp to overcome the two flights of stairs before you get to lobby. Room is strip of any charm or convenience. One that we had the most beef about is the bathroom, particularly the fixtures - clearly they came from the 80s and stayed true to its vintage year. We stayed at this hotel for two days on our most recent visit to Boston. The location is great and is a recently renovated beautiful historical building. The front desk person was helpful. She provided us with $10 credit towards the hotel restaurant and another $10 credit for Uber. She made our checking in experience pleasant. The room was clean, decorated tastefully and beds comfortable. We did not want our room to be cleaned but house keeping was nice to provide fresh towels and toiletries. We also asked for a micrwave oven and front desk sent one right away. The hotel has free wifi, excellent restaurant with outside sitting. BTW the hotel has garage parking for a fee and also there is street meter parking which only costs $2 per hour 8am to 8pm and free on Sunday. We had a wonderful stay at Loews Boston Hotel. I highly recommend it. Read less
