My husband and I stayed in Loews, Boston, for four nights in May 2019 to celebrate his birthday. With the birthday in mind, the hotel had provided strawberries and a bottle of wine in our room, which was a very nice and much appreciated gesture. The hotel itself is in a great location, close to Boston Common, the Freedom Trail and lots of sights and landmarks. There are plenty of very nice restaurants and bars close by. The hotel is in the former Boston police HQ and the building is beautiful. The basement bar (“The Precinct”) is well worth a visit. Our room was tastefully decorated in a modern style. We booked a deluxe room and it was a good size - very reasonable for a city hotel. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever stayed in. Normally when my husband and I travel we always find ourselves saying the bed isn’t as good as our bed at home, but it was definitely a match on this occasion! I see some reviews mention problems with noise. We stayed over a long weekend and had absolutely no problems with noise. All in all, I highly recommend the Loews hotel and would definitely be more than happy to stay there again. Read less

Had a corner room with a view of Berkeley and Stuart Streets. Appreciated the coffee machine in the room, though its location in a low drawer wasn’t exactly convenient. The machine in the downstairs lounge was good too. Due to the location we were able to walk everywhere - it’s about 30 minutes to Fenway Park and about the same to Boston Harbor Cruises and under 10 to Newberry Street. Lovely restaurants just around the corner, Flour and The Friendly Toast which we preferred to the Precinct. Overall, most enjoyable and would return if we visit the city again. Would certainly recommend. Read less

My partner and I were in Boston for a brief 5 night city break to explore Boston for the first time and mainly to relax. Loews Boston hotel helped us to do both. The building (old Boston Police HQ) is a limestone building that looks clean, solid and dependable which pretty much sums up our experience of this hotel. Check-in was swift and welcoming and within minutes we were in our room which was truly welcoming after a 7 hour flight and 10 hour stopover in Heathrow. Room 936 looks over Stuart Street and has a cool view of the local buildings. The room was surprisingly big and was clean and comfortably furnished. My only complaint was that the bottled water in the room (small bottles) was not complimentary but came with a hefty $8 price tag. I don’t think I have ever taken time to compliment housekeeping in one of my reviews but everyday (part from one day) we ran into our housekeeper several times as we were coming and going for breakfast and I genuinely regret not catching her name. Every encounter was friendly and she went out of her way to say hello and exchange pleasantries with us which were really genuine. I always think interactions with hotel staff can both enhance your experience of a hotel stay and can be indicative of how much emphasis a hotel places on customer care. Given that were both exploring and relaxing we did spend some time in the hotel, mainly in the Precinct bar and the restaurant. This is a must do and completed makes my point about interaction with hotel staff making your experience all the better. I have decided to write a separate review of the Precinct as, well, it deserves it. The location of Loews is perfect for exploring Boston. It is the the Back Bay area and is minutes away from the shopping on Boylston Street, Newberry Street and the reasonably high end Copley Square Mall. The Boston Common is just minutes away on foot and from here you can join the Boston Freedom Trail a route marked in red brick that will take you through the historical sites. Apart from taking an Über a few times because of the weather or because we were a little tiddly, we walked everywhere. There are many hotels to choose from in Boston and there will be many reviews but I consider myself to be quite fussy and have no hesitation in recommending Loews hotel as a safe bet for a brilliant Boston experience. Only one negative thing: When I moved the shampoo/body soap bottles on the shelf in the shower stall, i found a bunch of little hair (that looks like it came from a razor). I rinsed it off with water, but that definitely grossed me out. The staff (including the front desk and bell service/doorman) was friendly and professional. Overall, despite the icky moment in the shower stall, it was a great experience with great price. Read less
