Let me start by saying the woman at the desk was very welcoming and the lobby was adorable in all of its mid-century modern glory, complete with fireplace. The charm ended there. The room was a nice size. The bathroom was not. It is in serious need of an upgrade. They really could take away from the room and make the bathrooms larger. The sink was SLOW draining. Bring your own hairdryer, the one on the wall is old. They had shampoo, lotion, and soap, no conditioner. No fridge. The overhead fan was controlled by the light switch, it sounded like a jet plane, CRAZY loud. I mean rumbling, vibrating, loud. You could not turn it off if you wanted light. It was terrible. The beds were not comfy, although the bedding was very nice, the springs in the mattress were not. As for cleanliness, it was fine. I think because it's so tired, it seemed like it could have used a little elbow grease in the bathroom. I really wanted to love this place because the price was great compared to other back bay hotels. I MIGHT stay again if I am looking to save money on a future visit. It wasn't terrible. I would probably look for other options first, though. Helpful tip, if you have a tall SUV, you can't enter the parking lot from the front. At check-in, I was told I could have come around the back. I didn't know, so I parked at a lot around the corner and it was 5 bucks cheaper for the overnight, so it worked out fine for me. Read less

Helpful staff, comfy bed, good location. Yes, it desperately needs refurbishing but it was quiet and convenient. No breakfast but there were plenty of places to eat nearby. Handy for the Metro, Prudential Centre, Boston Symphony.

Big rooms and clean, staff keen to help, but limited numbers means waiting. However, very tired decor and fittings. A bit out of the way with a long trip to City centre at night. Thornton’s good for breakfast and only two minutes up the road.

I'm not sure how I feel about this hotel... It was pretty outdated. The lobby was ok, but the hotel room was old & kind of bare and the bathroom was small & had a musty smell. However. The hotel was in an excellent location to walk to Fenway, lots of bars & restaurants, and a bowling alley. Plus it was very affordable (for Boston).
