The Boxer Hotel Boston

The hotel

The pride of Boston, The Boxer Hotel captures the very essence of this ever-evolving city. Originally constructed in 1904, it’s been recently renovated with an industrial chic aesthetic – occupying the city’s historic Flatiron Building, it’s as unique as it is beautiful. Finch is the hotel’s restaurant and serves simple, hearty modern American fare and hometown favourites, including New England chowder – a must taste dish! There’s also a bar, perfect for sampling a Blueberry Cosmos perhaps or a Blue Agave Margarita

We enjoyed our stay at the Boxer. Everyone was so nice and helpful in booking tours and a taxi to the airport. The room was comfortable and clean. Keurig in the room for morning coffee. Even before we checked in, I asked for recommendations and the staff emailed me in a timely manner.

This small boutique hotel was completely welcoming and accommodating for our 4 day medically demanding stay. The staff were unfailingly courteous, helpful, cheerful, kind. The decor is industrial chic, but warmly so. Our room was convenient, the beds great, shower hot. The restaurant was only open our last day , but had tasty, nicely seasoned… Read more

After seeing the reviews, I thought I had found the perfect hotel for our 4 nights in Boston. WRONG. After seeing the reviews, I thought I had found the perfect hotel for our 4 nights in Boston. WRONG. The room was so tiny, about 7 feet by 8 feet, that the bed was pushed against the windows, the only nightstand was a refrigerator, there was no closet, only one drawer for clothing and to make it worse, the room was painted black so it appeared even smaller. Housekeeping just couldn't figure out that we needed two towels each day and washcloths, and every day we would have to call down and request more. We reported a slow drain the first day to Noah, who said he would have someone fix it the next day, but never did. One evening we called down to request towels and the phone rang and rang, several times. Finally went downstairs and there was no one to be found. NOW THEN, it was not all bad. Let me tell you about Karena. She worked the desk the last two days of our visit, and what a gem. She was engaging, helpful and had the personality to be in that position. Karena actually went outside to show me where the parking garage was and explained the traffic pattern to help navigate the busy intersection. Another bonus was the location, which is what you are paying the overpriced rates for, which was in the heart of it all. Just steps from everything we wanted to see and do. High marks for the Public Market a few blocks away for a quick breakfast, lunch or snack, unique food stalls with lots of variety. Would look for other options if we went again, it was just too small for two adults with two pieces of luggage (which we stored under the sink in the bathroom!) Read less

After reading tons of super positive reviews, a recent stay was a bit of a let down. This hotel is not a "gem". It's not "amazing". It's not "excellent". It's a mid-level hotel in downtown Boston, near North Station and TD Garden, that's it. First, there were a lot of complaints in past reviews about $53 valet parking. Well, complain no more… Read more
After reading tons of super positive reviews, a recent stay was a bit of a let down. This hotel is not a "gem". It's not "amazing". It's not "excellent". It's a mid-level hotel in downtown Boston, near North Station and TD Garden, that's it. First, there were a lot of complaints in past reviews about $53 valet parking. Well, complain no more because they did away with it. Now, you're self-parking in the Gov't Center garage for $35/night two blocks down the street, which is not terrible. But you have to check-in first to get the reduced rate pass, then go park, then walk back. If you want or need valet parking, do not stay here until they restore valet parking. Check-in is at 3:00 pm. We arrived on a Friday at 4:30 pm and our room wasn't ready. They got it ready in about 15 minutes, but c'mon. The pictures of rooms are made to look like the rooms are MUCH larger than they are. This hotel does not have great views of the city, and even the deluxe king room was not very big. There is no fan in the bathroom, and the desk as a ridiculous metal frame on top of it that block viewing the TV from the bed. C'mon man. When we arrived, the elevator had just gone out of commission, forcing us to use the stairs. Given how quickly the staff had notification signs printed for each floor, it seemed like a regular occurrence. We left our room at 8:30 am and returned at 3:30 pm. Housekeeping was on the floor but had not serviced our room. However, the staff were exceptionally nice. Of course, if you're going to be going to a Celtics or Bruins game, it's so close to TD Garden that most if not all of what I wrote may not matter to you. But don't be fooled by the reviews. You get what you pay for, which is a decent hotel, but nothing spectacular. Read less

The hotel is well decorated, and the staff is exceptional. Jamie went above and beyond to assist us with a special event, and Bernard and Noah were super helpful too. The location is easy walking to many sites and restaurants.
