Booked hotel for its location and planned to do sightseeing, but bed was so good that was really hard to get out of it in the morning - very rare occurrence in my traveling practice! Great location, attentive staff that really helped with getting Lyft drivers to make the correct turn to pick us up. We enjoyed proximity to Boston Commons, visited ICA [contemporary art museum] and Old South Meeting house for the history.. Read less

Overall the hotel stay was very good. Good service at the front destThe environment did feel a little sterile. Beds and pillows were really comfortable. I wish I had been in town for a longer stay. At check out did not get a bill. Still waiting to get my copy emailed.

The hotel lobby is beautiful and usually busy. The valet and doormen are friendly and polite. The counter staff are friendly. The shower was amazing and the cable tv was great. However, we were asked when checking in if we preferred a quiet room or a room with more natural light. We choose a quiet room (after coming from nyc and needed some quiet) and were given one on the 6th floor. However, the air conditioning outside our room was insufferably loud so we asked if we could be moved it possible. It was a shame because this room was beautiful. We were moved easily and without question. We were moved to the fourth floor that faced out onto the shopping mall below. This room was much louder and much smaller than the first room we were given. The bed was very uncomfortable and a new mattress is clearly needed for room 419. This room did not have a fridge and upon entering our room after being out all day an old fridge had been placed in our room and was taking up the limited space we had. We didn’t feel very comfortable knowing someone had been in our room whilst we were out and unaware they’d be entering. Also a word of warning, the hotel in above an open mall and station enterance and there is a lot of homeless people wandering around the mall and out the front of the hotel. We felt quite unsafe entering and exiting the hotel. We were not pleased to be moved to a smaller, louder room when we picked the option of a quite room initially. We didn’t like that a fridge was placed in our room whilst we weren’t there and the bed was very uncomfortable. I find it hard to see the value in the room considering how expensive it is. We’ve been to Boston previously and know there are far better options to choose from. We appreciate the hotel providing us with a fridge and the staffs friendly attitude but there was a lot of things that occurred that has deterred us from this hotel and that entire area of Boston. The Godfrey is a renovated, older space convenient to Boston Common and the theatre district. My king standard room was extremely small, but the stylishness of the property helped to compensate. Pricey for what you get, but what Boston hotel isn't?
