Hotel cleanliness not up to par. Mat at street entryway hasn’t been swept and cleaned with a water hose in a long time. Yesterday there were crumbs all over mats in an elevator. Friday and Sat a guy stood inside entry ways on either side of hotel in dark hidden and coughed continuously. Not sure if he was vaping but very creepy. Sat night a drunk harassed me for a handout near hotel entrance. I ran across street to avoid him. Businesses in Portland need to band together for private security and private garbage clean up. Causeway at night is wild Wild West. Very undesirable. Read less

We stayed 4 nights and the room was comfortable and the service was very good. We had a brief problem with air conditioning but it was fixed immediately. A great local bar is literally next door, and there is a good sandwich shop across the street. Many historical sites, the Quincy Market area, and TD Garden are all within easy walking distance.… Read more

The Kimpton Onyx is a well located hotel in Boston, right by North Station. It's very pet friendly which I really appreciated. It also, as of July 2021 does not charge a resort fee which is another huge plus. With post-pandemic life the amenities are limited, but that's not really any problem. The Kimpton Onyx is a well located hotel in Boston, right by North Station. It's very pet friendly which I really appreciated. It also, as of July 2021 does not charge a resort fee which is another huge plus. With post-pandemic life the amenities are limited, but that's not really any problem. The rooms are a bit on the small side but perfectly clean and well appointed. All of the staff I interacted with in person were very hospitable and nice. I was greeted when entering or exiting the lobby which I appreciate. My biggest problem with this place was the annoying texts. During my 2 night stay I got 3 unsolicited texts from the staff of the hotel. This felt very invasive and annoying. As a frequent traveler I know the ins and outs of staying at a hotel, and don't need a text to remind me that I can just call the front desk if I need more towels. The text on the last night of the stay giving me instructions for express check out was especially annoying. I get enough texts and emails from work. At a hotel, I like most to be left alone. I would really recommend they ask guests if they want to opt in to texts, instead of just opting guests in. Read less
