I love Kimpton Hotels and the Onyx was not my favorite. The people and service were great, but the rooms and facilities are looking a little tired. But if you are needing to be near the North End and TD Garden, then I would still choice this Kimptom Hotel. The area is great for sports bars and restaurants.

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. When I arrived for a business trip at 10 pm, my hotel bed was covered in blood, hair and toe nail clippings. When I asked to move to another room the front desk said that they were all booked for the night. Around 11 pm I went downstairs and tried to see if there was anything they could do for me because I was disgusted with the room. They offered me a room that had a horrible smell of smoke with 2 giant fans in the room. This room was completely unusable. Around midnight I was in tears and the front desk staff said they couldn't do anything for me. I pleaded with them and they were able to call the Kimpton Nine Zero and have me transferred over to that hotel at 1am. I have tried for 2 months to get my charge for those two nights at the Kimpton Onyx refunded. They will not fully refund my hotel reservation. I have emailed and called nine separate times. I have emailed Phillip Sims, the assistant general manager and sent phone messages and a survey to the General Manager Jessica Lavin. I want my full refund for the worst night and customer service I have ever had in my life! Read less

We have had a nice experience here. The hotel is charming, a room more than adequate with a very comfortable bed, and every employee has been very gracious, friendly and helpful. In addition the hotel is in a great location and almost everything you would want to see is in walking distance. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner here but the breakfasts were excellent. A nice feature is a free wine session between 5:00-7:00. When I next come to Boston I will stay here again. Read less

The hotel front desk staff was incompetent with room charges and consequently, the hotel charged me for two rooms rather than my own room without my authorization. The original reservation was made for 2 rooms under my name. At the time of arrival at the hotel, we informed the front desk that the rooms were to be charged using separate credit cards so that each party staying in a room would pay for their respective rooms. Despite multiple conversations regarding what seemed like a simple situation , I (who made the room reservations ) was charged for 2 separate rooms. This was not authorized by me at the time of payment when checking out of the hotel. It had been verbalized many times that each party was paying for their respective rooms. Only after I received my credit card bill was it evident that the hotel had charged me for 2 separate rooms on the same night. The actual invoice receipts provided to me by the hotel reflected only 1 room charge. The staff had failed to correctly manage the charges even with multiple explanations while at the hotel. The representative with whom I spoke after discovering the unauthorized charge argued about refunding that amount to me (which was significant). This should have been a simple situation. I will never stay here again, particularly because the hotel was careless and unethical in dealing with my money. Read less
