While I am a Hilton Honors member and generally enjoy my stays at Hiltons, Hilton did not take any steps to let us know about the change in ownership or that apparently we would not get any housekeeping.. Despite the fact that we are spending thousands of dollars to stay here for four nights, Hilton couldn’t send an email to let us know we are going to have the same towels and no trash pick up? Shame on Hilton for not taking better care of their guests. Aside from the corporation missteps, Jasmine at the front desk is a delight. And the gentleman who was at the desk this morning made fresh coffee, which as also terrific. Too bad their employer isn’t as nice as they are. Read less

This hotel should only be booked if you want a good location; but lots of other properties offer that at similar prices. I have no idea why Kimpton allows their name to be used on this property. Maybe that's why it says Onyx above the doorway on a faded black awning. The Kimpton is a small building plate to the right. Tiny lobby, no restaurant, no housekeeping unless you call down for towels on your own. No maid service. Two little trash cans placed in the room to hold you over until you check out. Staff was pleasant at check-in desk. Air conditioning was good. NO FRILLS! Rooms must have been renovated over 10 years ago. Dark decor (gray wallpaper with red pin stripes. Dark and dreary, furniture in good shape but mismatched. They have a red credenza that includes refrigerator and clothes drawers that look like they came from a Chinese 2nd hand store. Look at internet photos. Room was clean but the beds only have a flat sheet, cover sheet over a cheap white duvet. No blanket, no bedspread. Nothing at all upscale. The King bed has a small nightstand on each side of the bed. That's the width of that part of the room. Small and difficult to spread out a couple suitcases without using the bed. Bathroom OK. Neighborhood is fine. No fear walking at night as there are major streets at each end of block. Homeless were not around hotel but we did see a couple and we were happy to have them enjoy our Doggie Bag that we took from our restaurant. They were so thankful and polite. Less than a 7 minute walk to TD Arena. Several food court areas that have good sandwiches, chowder, etc. not fast food. Noise is disturbing until midnight if there is an event going on at TD arena. Lots of cars trying to get down the street and voice noise from party people. Yes it's annoying unless you keep the fan on the air conditioning going to try to blot it out. It's a city folks, not the beach. I would never return to this hotel. Read less

Staff did not explain anything about the covid cleaning procedures. We were not told that there would not be any cleaning unless requested by us the day before. We requested towels and washclothes and the guy came with towels and when we asked about the washclothes he was quite exasperated that we had to come back. Very poor service all around for the cost, will not stay again. Read less

Stay Report - 9/6 to 9/7 Location: The hotel is located on Portland Street just south of Causeway Streets in the TD Garden Area.  This means you're a quarter mile from the North Station MBTA and Commuter Rail Station and an easy walk to the North End.  You're also all of 8 minutes from Logan Airport.  The area around the hotel is a little scuzzy and you will likely encounter homeless people along with a lot of abandoned businesses.  Hotel: The hotel is tiny, even for an urban hotel.  There lobby has a closed bar and restaurant and a joke of a snack selection they call the Onyx Bodega.  It seemed to be mainly Pringles and bottled water.  On the basement level is a fitness center, ATM and a few other things.  The corridors are small and narrow as well.  Everything about this hotel feels like its sandwiched into its space in the worst way possible. Check In: On the bright side we were able to get into our room at 1:30 PM.  I was offered points or an item from the Bodega as a Spire.   Room: Really tiny.  As small a room as I've ever had at a Kimpton.  I was with my family and as soon as I saw the room I instantly regretted choosing the hotel.  There's barely room to get around the beds to use the desk and the bathroom is tiny.  It also took minutes for the shower to get hot.  Thankfully soundproofing wasn't an issue and the Wifi worked well.. This is the most disappointing Kimpton I've been to.  Nothing about it felt like a Kimpton...except the price tag I guess.  I will not be back.  Read less

My son lives nearby and we need a place to stay. This was two short blocks away. The hotel is in the middle of everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
