Starfish St Lucia Resort

St Lucia, Caribbean

The hotel

The glossy greens of the hills and infinite blues of the sky, sea, and pool are paired with splashes of sunny yellow around the ocean-facing pool at Starfish St Lucia Resort – and the result’s the very picture of a tropical Caribbean escape. It spots everything you'd want from the Caribbean too. Sitting along the the famous Reduit Beach, it's just a stroll from all the fun and buzz of Rodney Bay, with its marina, mall, night clubs, bars and restaurant and from the spa at its sister hotel. Of course, with its all inclusive promise, you might not even leave your beachside base. Dining and drinking stretches from the bountiful buffet to the tantalising Italian ‘ristorante’, daytime beach grill, and swim-up bar. And little guests haven’t been forgotten either, with their Rexplorers kids’ club and babysitting promising them fun while you enjoy a spot of snorkelling or beach cricket.

Food : basic , bland, service is terrible in buffet , waiting 10 / 15 minutes for a drink Bars: no named spirits ,watered down beer in small plastic cups that you get in the dentist to wash your mouth out, always running out of stuff , cans of lager smaller than the ones on the plane. Rooms: basic, small bathroom, cleaned everyday. Do not use nexus tours , they are useless, Use the locals , they will look after you and give you a better service a lot cheaper. Entertainment: what can you say ,its that bad the krankies would top the bill over here , it's all in the lobby bar ,stuffy, no air conditioning. The only thing missing from this hotel were basil and Manuel Don't blame the staff for anything that happens , it's all down to terrible management Read less

Was there Nov 4-11. The resort is not 4 star but it is enough to get you through the week. NOTE: the resort is 2 hours drive from the airport. 1) Monarch Buffet Restaurant. Not a lot of choices. Was there Nov 4-11. The resort is not 4 star but it is enough to get you through the week. NOTE: the resort is 2 hours drive from the airport. 1) Monarch Buffet Restaurant. Not a lot of choices. But if you just eat so as not to be hungry, you will survive. Do not expect to be wowed. After all, this isn't fancy dining. There is kingfish, some pasta, some potato and rice. In the corner, they have special dish at night, like one night it was jerk chicken or bbq porkchop. Odd that there aren't more fruits on the dessert area, the first night I had the fruits, they seem not ripe (cantaloupe) Breakfast has no ham, but has bacon. Omelette station (with limited choices for your omellete, onion, mushroom, bacon). It is a bit dark / dim too. Would be nice if they added more lights. Maybe more fan. Coffee was not good 2) Italian or Oriental ala cart Restaurant You have to book 24 hours ahead to get into the alacart restaurant. We love the Italian, there is pizza, there is lasagna and chicken parm. Also mahi mahi fish which I tried was good but then the second time it was a bit too dry. Dessert- ice cream affogato with rum was great! Oriental, i had fish with black bean, okyish. I heard the sizzling beef was good but we did not get to try it. There is sweet sour dish, tom yum gong soup very spicy. 3) Room Love that the airconditioner was working well, and it doesn't make the on off loud noise. It was consistent all through the night. Adjusted the "leaf" so as not to push the air to my face when sleeping. The shower area in our room had a shower curtain and it is not a tub shower area, it was very small! Hair dryer was great and strong (not the one attached to the wall like most hotels) 4) Beach was great, we were there everyday! calm clear water. 5) Umbrella - sometimes they ran out of umbrella we just stayed under the tree for shade. I didn't like the lounge chairs by the one side where it was inclined. So we went further to the right, where the sand was flatter. 6) Loud music - the resort is near bars and so you will hear loud music till 2 am (but since you are inside airconditioned room, it kinda soften the sound a bit) 7) Walk outside the resort, there is mall, restaurants 8) beach Grill - fish and chips, burger, hotdog, salad 9) Entertainment - they have male singers every other night. The country singer was good, and then Andreis Day was also good. I did not participate in pool activities so I cannot comment 10) Water activities - we only tried Hobbie cat, if you need them to take you, USD20 for about 45 minutes. Free - stand up paddleboard, kayak. 11) there is a lounge that opens 6-10 pm (go up the beach grill area). We only went a couple of times. Nice view and breezy, plays soft jazz music at night. Verdict: for the price we paid around C$1050 per adult (I think it is a good deal), this place is ok for us. We are not foodie, so the basic food is ok. We get what we paid for, so I can't complain. This place is good enough for a week stay. Beach in the resort is a big plus! Read less

We’ve just returned after spending 10 fantastic nights at the Starfish St Lucia. If you’re looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun then this is the resort for you. The staff are friendly and we were especially impressed by the pool bar staff, often only one being on, with a queue of thirsty guests on both sides and yet never flapping. It’s a pity aqua aerobics wasn’t a daily activity as this was met with great enthusiasm. The pool wasn’t deep but it was large and perfect for when you need to cool down. Plenty of sun beds around the pool but not enough parasols and by early afternoon shade is a must. There were several beds to the left of the pool and just behind on the grass that stayed in the shade until early afternoon but the sun always found you in the end 😎 and these were snapped up along with the beds with parasols from early morning. We borrowed snorkelling gear from the activities desk (1 hour) and found some interesting fish on the left hand side of the beach beside the rocks. Our room, 402 was perfect, we were upgraded to a sea view room which was very much appreciated with a very comfortable king size bed, fridge and safe and flat screen TV. The room was kept immaculate throughout our stay with towels and toiletries replaced daily. The air con was the best ever. Shower could be a bit temperamental. Food in the Monarch restaurant was acceptable, although on a couple of occasions we found it to be cold. Breakfast and lunch were the best options, although as others say, topping up of the food could be a little bit slow. The beach grill was a good option for lunch and had the best onion rings I’ve ever tasted. We mostly dined between the Italian and Oriental restaurants both serving excellent food with a relaxing atmosphere. Entertainment was held in the lobby bar but it was just too hot, we spent most evenings at the roof top bar where we enjoyed Alfreidas nightly Irish coffee, a cool breeze and the stars. We spent a few hours in the local sports bar Kee-Dees just five minutes outside the hotel where there was a selection of football/sports on several large screen tv’s. This was our first visit to St Lucia and our second stay at a Starfish resort (Tobago last year) and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the resorts if you’re looking for a reasonably priced holiday in a 3* resort in the Caribbean where the staff work hard to ensure you have an enjoyable and memorable holiday. The staff were all friendly but there were three that really stood out , Omany in the restaurant, she was attentive and very funny . The lady ( sorry I have forgotten her name ) in Tommy’s bar that made fantastic cocktails and was very amusing. The star of the show was the entertainment supervisor Nikita , every day she organised activities around the pool and kept us all busy trying to win 100 points for a prize when we left for home . I would describe Starfish as a lovely value for money hotel and you can have a great time there . I have been to St Lucia twice before and paid far more and I rate this hotel as 4 star + Read less

If you are looking to travel to Saint Lucia and you're on a tight budget this is the place for you! The best thing about this resort is the LOCATION. It is in the heart of everything which is perfect and if you are looking to party than this is the spot because the strip is a foot away. Check in was great, you get one key and your towel cards, they also make you sign a disclaimer. Previous review mentioned an emergency situation, if its the same one, a group of people took out a parasail and was drifting in the ocean because they didn't have anyone to go and rescue them. Who knows how long they were out there. Thank god they returned safely. You need an adapter for your media devices and phones so make sure you buy some or you request it upon check in. FYI you'll be getting dressed in the dark as they have 2 lamps which one is plugged out becuase you need the plugs for your devices. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation and you are over the age of 50 or with your family you are in the right spot. Do not expect much from this resort. If you are someone who needs to eat at all time than make sure you account for eating out. 2 al carte restaurants (which I recommend making a reservation for every night especially the oriental). Everytime you go to eat you have to wait to be seated and they ask for your room number. They actually run out of food!!! Half the time we couldn't get what we wanted to eat or drink. Literally no options at the buffet but if you don't mind paying thousands of dollars to eat burger and fries than you'll be okay. Food cuts off at 10 pm so no food or snacks after that and the bar closes at midnight!!! Probably because everyone is in their room at 10 pm. There is no bottles of liquor, beer, or water in the room. There is no fridge either like all the all inclusive I've been to. The people and the service is great they are very accomodating but if you've visited other all inclusive on other islands at 4* throw it out the window you're looking at a 3* at best. The rooms are in need of renovations. Taking a shower was the worst! If you wanted good water pressure than you either would have to shower in scorching hot water or freezing cold. Had to shower with the curtain open because I didn't want to touch the shower curtain. If you are are larger person it is not very spacious. The beach is great! Out of all the resorts you will have the best locaton for the beach, the strip, and excursions. Check out Marie's at the end of the beach food and drinks are great. It is very safe to walk around even at night. We took the local bus into town for $2.50 EC. Better to use EC than US. Did the segway tour and mudbaths did not book through the hotel. Don't get me wrong you'll enjoy your vacation just don't expect much. Read less
