Starfish St Lucia Resort

St Lucia, Caribbean

The hotel

The glossy greens of the hills and infinite blues of the sky, sea, and pool are paired with splashes of sunny yellow around the ocean-facing pool at Starfish St Lucia Resort – and the result’s the very picture of a tropical Caribbean escape. It spots everything you'd want from the Caribbean too. Sitting along the the famous Reduit Beach, it's just a stroll from all the fun and buzz of Rodney Bay, with its marina, mall, night clubs, bars and restaurant and from the spa at its sister hotel. Of course, with its all inclusive promise, you might not even leave your beachside base. Dining and drinking stretches from the bountiful buffet to the tantalising Italian ‘ristorante’, daytime beach grill, and swim-up bar. And little guests haven’t been forgotten either, with their Rexplorers kids’ club and babysitting promising them fun while you enjoy a spot of snorkelling or beach cricket.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August. The location of the hotel cannot be beaten, it is in my opinion on the best part of Reduit Beach. We stayed here for 2 weeks in August. The location of the hotel cannot be beaten, it is in my opinion on the best part of Reduit Beach. The watersports are fantastic, all included with no extra charges. The watersports staff are amazing, can't do enough to help you. We had a room in the 400 block, 1st floor and looked directly out onto the beach. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Crystal in particular was amazing. It was my daughter's birthday whilst we were there and she made such a fuss of her and remembered our names. The Chinese and Italian restaurants were great. The staff were friendly and chatty, couldn't do enough for you. The food was excellent in all of the restaurants including the buffet. The only downside to the holiday was that the staff in the buffet restaurant were rude and unhelpful. They often stood around talking which a lot of the guests felt uncomfortable about as you felt that they were talking about the guests. We tended to eat in the a la carte restaurants most nights as was a completely different atmosphere. The hotel needs to put more staff on to the pool bar, as most of the time it was just one member of staff there and they were very busy and stressed. The daily entertainment was really well organised and fun, but no pressure to join in if you didn't want to. The pool area is very tired, but didn't bother us as we were on the beach all day. Overall a fantastic holiday, great value for money and would return. Improve the staff training for the buffet restaurant and the hotel will be perfect! Read less

The breakfast buffet was great each morning, and we had our lunch every day at the pool/beach restaurant which had a good choice. The buffet was disappointing in the evenings, so we ate mostly at the Italian or oriental restaurants, which were both very good and happy to accommodate. There are a good range of water sports to do and Nikita arranges several organised activities during the day, which the children enjoyed. The hotel is at the end of a beautiful beach which was great to walk along each morning. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the town centre which has a supermarket and plenty of duty free shops. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel and really enjoyed our stay here. Read less

We have returned from an 11 night stay at the starfish St Lucia. What an amazing relaxing holiday it was! All staff we came into contact with were polite and courteous, we were greeted by any worker at any time with a hello enjoy your day, Kenneth at the pool bar is a boss at making cocktails, sharkeem is always happy always with a smile and Leslie is a darling too! The room was all you need it to be, the air con is amazing which is massively appreciated after a day in the sun! Bathroom is very dated but saying that it has all you need. The pool area is clean and well maintained and the beach oh my gosh it’s amazing and literally on the door step. Water sports available at no extra cost, we did kayaking and snorkelling- a must, to see the sea urchins and ironically starfish!! You can catch the most beautiful sunset from the beach too. There are a few sellers that walk along but if you say no thank you they walk by so not pushy at all! The food. So we are torn on this as a family, it’s everything my husband expected it to be and nothing I expected. As I’m writing the review I’ll say my view haha there isn’t a lot of variety, some evenings i struggled to have a “proper dinner” however did I ever go hungry? Nope! Breakfast was the same as anywhere, eggs bacon sausages fruits etc so pretty standard. There is a grill to the left of the pool bar that serves cheeseburgers/hotdogs etc. Sitting in the main restaurant is too hot at lunch time. There a family of 3 cats in the grounds who do come into the restaurant, being animal lovers we didn’t mind at all but some do, they are no bother to you at all. All in all Yes the hotel is dated Yes the bathroom isn’t what you’d expect and yes there’s no air con in the main bar/restaurant but it’s not a sandals........would we go back to this hotel? Absolutely in a heartbeat. The vibe is great the people are great in and out of hotel the island is great and the sun is savage! If you want to know anything please ask I’ll be more than happy to try to help you :-) Read less

Besides the water bottles in room on arrival, drinks are not provided in rooms, but there is a fridge and with the resort being small, its a short walk to the restaurants and bars. There are also water stations throughout the resort. Loved our beach massages with Spencer. We walked around the town comfortably and took a cab to tour the island and see some local attractions. Well worth the cheap fare. Read less
