Viceroy Washington DC

Dupont Circle and Embassy Row, Washington DC

Virgin rating

The hotel

On the masculine side of sultry, this urban hangout’s dressed in macho greys, with muted jewel accents, monochrome detailing, and warming dashes of wood and distressed leather. It all fits in with the manly ‘cut and thrust’ of Washington DC and the Viceroy's neighbourhood, which they describe as ‘the IT zone’. Steps from 14th Street, the rooms still ooze spaciousness from their former life as apartments. After grabbing free tea or coffee downstairs each morning, you can walk to the White House and other DC delights. Guests staying in summertime can mix days sightseeing with days at the rooftop pool, before joining local crowds at its accompanying bar for creative cocktails and starlit views over the capital.

The experience was perfection from start to finish. The location is amazing. There are fantastic restaurants right outside the door. And Maria and Christian at the front desk and all of the staff from the doormen to housekeeping was amazing! thank you for a 10 out of 10 experience!

Door guys were all great The negatives The room was very dark. No overhead lighting, no lights in the closet, the light on nightstand did not work. Toilet made a loud noise for several minutes after use. Front desk staff not friendly nor helpful. A bottle of wine from the lobby fridge was not marked and cost $58 per bottle . The restaurant didn't open for breakfast on Sunday until 11 a.m. we ordered 2 smoothies, 2 small cartons of yogurt, plain black coffee and a small cup of fruit at the little coffee shop on site and it was $58! There was a 30 dollar amenity fee per day I have no idea for what! Read less

Everything about our stay was fantastic! Our two queen room was large enough that our two teenagers weren’t constantly in each other’s space, allowing all of us to have a more relaxing stay. It was much roomier than most inner city hotels we’ve stayed in. We used valet parking and walked to most of our destinations (about 7 miles per day between getting there, walking around the sites/museums, walking back, and walking to & from restaurants). There were a ton of great restaurants nearby to choose from in addition to their own coffee shop & restaurant. Read less
