The old hotel really should be replaced. One of the "original" Washington area Marriots. The bar area was ok and the staff there was accommodating. Would not recommend staying there unless you really want to be close to the airport.

As far as this hotel goes, it's not about luxury, but location. I live in the DC area and every time my wife and I go on vacation and we have an early flight we stay here to avoid having to deal with traffic and the anxiety of possibly being late since Dulles isn't one of those airports where you can be late and still make your flight. Even though Marriott has renovated and upgraded just about everything here, the design of the rooms (bathrooms are small) and the hotel itself make it virtually impossible to do anything more than they have. That lone elevator at the end of the hallway and those long, dull, windowless hallways are going to be there no matter what, but, thank goodness, you don't stay in either of them. The rooms aren't the Ritz, but they are clean and updated with new carpet and furnishings and soundproof so you don't hear the planes taking off and/or landing. In addition, it does have a concierge lounge if you're an elite member and you can't beat the convenience or the price if you're flying into or out of Dulles. Read less

From the check-in on, this place fails to live up to Marriott standards. The staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful. The room was dated and the bathroom was tiny and unclean. I travel a lot with my job, and I normally stay at full-service Marriott properties. I attended a two day meeting at this particular property. Location was great - just a short distance from the airport. That being said, there are no restaurants within in walking distance of the hotel. You will either need to utilize Uber/Lyft/Taxi, or rent a car. The shuttle was very convenient and the driver was very nice and helpful. I’ve stayed exclusively at Marriott properties for 21 years, and this was probably the oldest property I have ever stayed in. The overall condition of the property was nice, but compared to other Marriott properties, this one could use an update, specifically in the sleeping rooms. Our bathroom was dated and the bathtub was dirty. Rather than calling the front desk, I just cleaned it myself. Overall, the room was in good condition. I just felt like the bathroom didn’t quite match the rest of the room as far as being updated. Again, not a deal breaker. The one thing that I WAS annoyed by was the fact that I had requested a sleeping room near the meeting space about 8 weeks in advance of my stay, due to the fact that I had my teenage daughter with me. I wanted to be able to check on her during meeting breaks. When I checked in, they said they didn’t have a request, and they made it sound as if my room wouldn’t be too far from the meeting space. To the contrary, my room couldn’t have been any further from the meeting space. This was the dealbreaker. Platinum Elite, and they had no interest in trying to accommodate what I felt was a simple request. The restaurant was great. We at dinner each night in the restaurant and breakfast on our way out. Food was amazing. Would highly recommend the restaurant. Read less
