Stayed here overnight , wish we had time for a longer stay. Extremely clean, friendly staff, and many amenities without additional cost . Room was very comfy and good sized with plenty of space for our luggage ☺️

Where do I begin ? So I booked this hotel a month in advance through Expedia. The pictures on their website and Expedias look as if they were stock photos however after careful digging and some reviewing I realized that they had recently remodeled during COVID and didn’t have many pictures for review. The previous hotel was Liason and had lots of nice reviews so I just went with it. Upon arrival to the hotel the outside of the hotel seemed to still be under construction as there was no actual sign more like a banner taped across the top and the restaurant next door to it looked as if it was an unfinished building. Entering the lobby there was a nice little sitting area, self checkin computers, and nice bright lighting. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful while checking me in. This is where the downhill battle began...All fees as listed on Expedia stated that they were paid in full on the site and were non refundable so when I was told to swipe my card for an additional $150 for hotel deposit I was a little baffled. I know that this is standard practice when booking with the hotel directly but It was not listed on Expedia through their advertisement. Next the receptionist handed over my room keys and my bf and I headed upstairs to our room. There was still dust and left over building material that could be seen in plain view. There were also signs saying please excuse our dust! We get to our room but as I proceed to enter I notice a naked man lying in bed he sees me too and we both scream. I run out of the room full speed with my bf asking me what’s happened?? I head back down to the receptionist and she states that the room is supposed to be empty as stated in the system. She then sends security to the room and the guests confirms that he checked in earlier that day. The receptionist then proceeds to inform me that the system went down earlier in the day and that maybe the reason for it not showing as an occupied room on the system. She apologizes and advises me that the hotel will honor 50% off of our first night through Expedia because of the inconvenience, I agree and await for the issuing of our new room. The new room is literally on the same floor just a few doors down from the room I walked in on the man. I advise the receptionist that because of what happened I am not comfortable with staying on that floor but she informs me because of construction this was the only floor that they had available. I was literally so scared. I actually spent the rest of my stay in fear that the same thing would happen to me! We get to the room and it’s actually pretty nice and modern just as pictured on the site. The next day all is well until I reach over to call the front desk about the clogged shower and there’s no room phone, go figure. I then realize that there’s no toothpaste packages, and no hair dryer, you know the normal hotel necessities. I bring the complaint to the front desk they have housekeeping to provide the dryer and a small tiny pack of toothpaste, however they ensure me that the phone is in the room. They then send a technician to come in and verify, he apologizes and promises to bring back a phone but never does. I complain again to the front desk personnel and they apologize and let me know that there will be no phone for the duration of my stay because of construction and then proceeds to write down the number to the front desk and the ext. wow just wow. The next day we witness security yelling at a hotel guests visitor in the lobby. Literally the most unprofessional thing I’ve witnessed at a hotel. The visitor is yelling back and no one is thinking to maybe take it outside or go to a secluded place and speak. On the morning of my checkout while waiting for my Uber I realize that there is an additional hotel charge for $130 which should not have been debited from my card. I bring my concerns to the manager on duty he apologizes and promises to refund the total. Because of my Uber arriving shortly after I was not able to speak in detail for as long as I liked(I really wanted to know where the charge came from). When I finally get back home I call the hotel to confirm that they would be refunding me for the erroneous charge and they agree. I then call Expedia who agrees to debit me the 50% from the first night and offered me a voucher credit for my next hotel stay because of the inconvenience. Now let’s fast forward almost two weeks later and I have received the refund from Expedia but still no refund from the hotel for my $280. I am so disappointed, as I had high hopes for this hotel stay but that definitely was not the case. I would like to note that all of the hotel staff I interacted with were apologetic and helpful I understand that in some situations it’s not their fault or beyond their ability. Read less

I'd love to post a nice review, however due to the pandemic, I was unable to even GET to Liason for my family's Spring Break vacation. After reaching out to the staff regarding a refund as this cancellation was not on my own accord, they refused. Charged me the full amount. Under normal circumstances, I fully understand the policy. These, however are not normal circumstances. I was forced to cancel and believe that the right thing for this institution to do, is give a refund. Although our trip is postponed, I can assure you I will stay anywhere BUT Liason due to the pure unwillingness to support a family with a situation that was beyond their control, beyond anyone's control! Nice hotel located in walking distance from union station and Capitol Hill. Most of the tour buses are located at union station so you can walk there and select the type tour you desire. The rooms at the Liaison are small but adequate. No cups in the room except for 2 coffee cups. We enjoyed our stay.
