The only thing good about this hotel is the staff-excluding the lobby coffee bar. The employees at the lobby coffee bar did not even look up to acknowledge your presence or to even say "I will be with you in a moment." When I finally got their attention they basically plopped the cup of coffee on the bar. They did not even ask if I wanted milk,… Read more

The employees at the lobby coffee bar did not even look up to acknowledge your presence or to even say "I will be with you in a moment." When I finally got their attention they basically plopped the cup of coffee on the bar. They did not even ask if I wanted milk, sugar or anything else. The coffee was also full of grinds. I have done a lot of traveling in my time and have never seen a room design as hideous as this. The bathroom was so small you could barely move. The shower was also small and set outside of the bathroom and because the space was open with no door, there were only two steps separating your naked recently showered self from the rest of the room. When I went to Paris France, I shared the room with my adult son. In instances like that this would definitely not work unless you do not have a problem being naked in front of the other person in your room. Just an FYI. The only good thing about the room was it was extremely clean. I expected much better for a room that cost over $400 per night and expected much more from the W. Needless to say my girlfriend and I will never stay at another W Hotel. Read less

What a completely basic and disappointing visit. This is not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination. First impression: rolled up to the curb, no welcome from the valet. They did not lift a finger to help with a cart or luggage. We actually had to go get them. They watched us struggle to open the doors and push our cart through the door ourselves. Sat on their rear ends. Second: the Bonvoy app states that there is complimentary coffee. No such thing. Apparently they need to suspend that because of covid, but they will sell you a basic cup instead. How does that even make sense? The bar said they had to suspend it. The front desk said they never offered it. Somebody is full of garbage. Third: As we were walking back in and through the lobby, one of the men with our family forgot to put his mask back on. The man at the front desk actually pointed his finger at the guest, said "hey! Mask on!" I'm not kidding. The proper thing to say is, "Excuse me, sir. Would you mind putting your mask on, it is DC regulations." And then thank the guest. Absolutely unacceptable. I can't help but wonder if this is a racism problem. We are here for the political rally, and we are white. Don't waste your money here. Pathetic. Read less

Terrible mattress and pillows. Overly soft mattress and overly overused pillows kept me up all night, we rolled to middle of bed because the mattress of the king bed had no sturdiness from what I could only guess is over use. Pillows were a disaster too, waking around with a very stiff neck now. Yes location is great. But a 5star hotel should… Read more

As a platinum, I was given an upgrade to a spectacular room. Let’s just say there’s nothing spectacular about this room. There’s no desk I wonder how business travelers would feel about it. The foyer and the vanity area are very small. I understand that these restrictions came with the building, but when I tried to call the “whatever whenever” line or concierge, there’s also no one answering. Additionally, I asked for a comb and the front desk told me they didn’t have it. Hmm I guess the the whatever whenever doesn’t really apply? Hairdryer had lint build up and looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for a while - for a luxury hotel, this should really be taken care of. Read less

Lorenzo Thomas was absolutely fantastic - helped us out in a pinch with kindness and expediency. The rooms are fantastic, but for me the staff made the property worthwile. Interactions and friendly banter are always welcome
