We stayed in this property over three weeks. Selected because of our status with Bonvoy. We absolutely loved the location. It is not that crowded but from the other side it can be very vibrant at night. There are many restaurants and groceries in walking distance. Neighborhood is very safe. There is a police station nearby. We have seen police car staying next to the hotel during the night few times. The beach is across the road – again not that many people. Also, we have noticed that the sea is cleaner there than the other places. Less weed and rubbish. Breakfast: it was complementary buffet with only limited selection. Not eatable at all. Room: got it on the top floor facing the atrium. We have had a nice palm leaf facing the window. Room was ok in size. There was a convertible sofa that was used by our daughter. Our matrass was too soft for our liking; however, we sleep on a stiff bed at home. Bathroom door was broken when we arrived and nobody bothered to fix it. Cleaning was fragmented. Couple of times it was cleaned really well. Other days - so so. Shampoo had finished in the bath. So, it was replenished only after a week when we asked for it. The room has full kitchen, however no stove. Basically, you can’t cook there, only warm up in the microwave. Reception: we didn’t really click with the morning shift. It was more “don’t bother me” attitude so we interact mainly with afternoon shift. One lady was particularly helpful. We arrived on midnight and they took my credit card on file. During our stay hotel kept blocking funds on my card without even notifying me. When I asked reception what they were doing it they referred to some mysterious automatic process. I didn’t see any particular system in it. And finally, when we settled our bill I still had couple of grands blocked for two weeks after. Check your card limit before you go to this property. My final bill came two thousand more than it was booked. It took some time to fix the issue. Hotel charges obligatory resort fee. You may get towels, rusty and dirty beach chairs and couple of cans of the cheapest beer daily for it. Basically, it is the way to justify charging you more without any add value. We elite members with Bonvoy for many years. The hotel doesn’t really care about it. We got zero recognition for our loyalty: no upgrade, no other credit. The only property cared in our case was to maximize revenue from us. Overall, we didn’t see any decent value for money. For the same price, you can have a 5-star hotel experience in Dubai where they treat you like a king because of your status. Read less

I stayed in the Residence Inn by Marriot in Miami Beach - Surfside from Sep. 2nd to Sep. 11th for business and leisure proposal. During my staying in this hotel there was more than 20 rooms with the reservation made because of a course organized by my company. After the course, I had the weekend free to enjoy with my family and some people of my team. In my last day, after arriving from the beach, the employee in the front desk saw my name when I was returning the towels and he told me that I needed to change my room because they would refurnish the 4th floor where was my room. I asked him if I could leave the room in the next day because my flight would leave very early in the morning, and he answered in a very rude way that I “must leave the room ASAP” because I was the last guest in that floor. The manager was close to us and she interrupt the conversation telling that I could go to the swimming pool and after that I could come back to front desk to change my room. I told her that in my last day of travel, missing time changing the room it would be something disturbing that could be avoided if the hotel checked me in in a different floor, but I would make it. My wife went to our room to pack all our luggage and the key was not working, the front desk had already cancel it to push us to move. She went to front desk and the same employee (the man) asked her who was the lady who in the previous night made the new key to her, because we must changed the room one day before. My wife told him that she didn’t know her name and he kept insisting and asked her again if the lady was back or white skin, my wife became very embarrassed with his question. While my wife was packing our luggage, I went to front desk and summarizing this man almost physically attacked me saying in loud voice face to face to me many rude things. In my point of view and summarizing all situation: Knowing about the refurnish in that floor and knowing that my check out time would be after the starting days of refurnish, the hotel shouldn’t checked me in in that floor. If they fail in the organization in the point above, they should post-pone the refurnish for 12 hours later, which was my check out. If the point above was impossible, the man at front desk should apologize a lot, instead of arguing with me telling that I should see my e-mails. NEVER EVER I had any hotel employee who raise the voice to me for any reason, this man almost physically attacked me. If the manager offer the discount for the fees, which I hadn’t asked her for discount in any time, the hotel should do it. I sent an e-mail to Marriot to complain about all this situation and the only feedback I had was from the manager, who told me that she offered to waiver "the last day"of Destination Fee. This is not correct, she told me to waiver the Destination Fee and Parking Fee, but she didn't mentioned about only for the "Last Day". Anyway, discount Fees is not the real issue, the problem is been treated the way the Front Desk Associate treated me and my family. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone! Read less

Fantastic stay here in Surfside. The property is in a great location with the beach seconds away. The team was friendly at every interaction. The rooftop pool is a nice little oasis. There was a landscaping crew cutting the palms and giving out the coconuts as we entered, unexpected and awesome!

The hotel photos must have been taken years ago and do not reflect the current conditions. I would expect a little bit more from a marriott property regarding ammenties upkeep and cleanliness. Lobby floors and tables were loaded with dirt and food particles on our checkin date. The bathroom near the fitness center had the same trash on the floors every day during my stay. Furthermore, the two only elliptical machines are broken, and i was unable to use them. The pool deck water over flow grates were rusty and are tripping hazard. The pool chairs are torn , stained, and worn. The cabana chairs to rent are stained and look ghetto. My hotel room shower wall had body hair on it upon arriving. The bottom of the wall was rotted in the bathroom (stupid design swimsuit drying rack over sheetrock). Living Room couch was worn, stained, and smelled musty. Cable TV did not work anytime during my stay. No refund of the $30 a day destination fee. I am bilingual and spoke with a few hotel employees about the condition of the hotel. I learned from these employees that morale is low due to employees work hours being cut. Read less
