Little Good Harbour

Barbados, Caribbean

The hotel

A little piece of real Barbados, this collection of suites sits in a peaceful fishing village, along a stretch of white sunbed-sprinkled sands. Part of its unique charm comes from its beautiful 18th century fort, beautiful gardens along with two serene pools and a spa. This luxury hotel’s handy spot near Speightstown gives you plenty of options for dinners out – but many locals choose to visit Little Good Harbour itself, to feast at The Fish Pot. Set inside the historic fort, it’s one of the island’s most famous and fabulous restaurants, featuring coastal classics like Caribbean lobster

Positives - Spacious rooms, modern kitchen and bathrooms. Lovely private beach. Good quality food. Would return if it was not so far from town or they provided a shuttle bus. Negatives− Service for breakfast was slow. No flexibility at all in choice - if you were on full breakfast deal you couldn't have just fruit and an egg because the fruit came from the continental choice and egg from the full english! They are wasting food and money - some mornings i just wanted fruit and maybe a bacon sandwich - No - you have to pay extra to order from the continental selection as well - so order full english and leave half of it? crazy! A long walk to Speightstown - local busses irregular - cant get on one sometimes and taxis were extorsionate prices. Maybe hotel could offer a shuttle bus with the same charge as the local bus - even slighty more - say twice an hour? That would make it much easier. Beware of the floating platform with the bench on it. The top step is leathal - it folds up on you when you step on it - my wife got her leg trapped and could have broken it or drowned if i had not been there - im not exagerating - fortunately just very bad bruising - reported to reception but they were uninterested - it was still there with the same issue when we left 3 days later. Its a serious accident waiting to happen. Read less

This was a lovely place to stay - it has it's own small beach, beautiful rooms and grounds, and the staff is very helpful. My sister and I really enjoyed the hotel. While it is out of the way, we thought the experience was certainly worth it and there are great beaches and restaurants a short distance away. I will definitely be back!

Excellent Caribbean style bungalows and apartments and a warm welcome from Andrew the owner. Although there were only two of us we were fortunate to have a front located two bedroom two bath bungalow. The location meant we had a view of the sea over the perimeter wall and across to the Fish Pot restaurant. The bungalow had quite large rooms and bathrooms and was very well furnished. It had more than ample seating both inside and out on the terrace. The gardens had an abundance of local planting and were very well kept. The location to the north of the west coast is away from the most popular tourist hotels of the Holetown area which is where we would normally stay. Although it is close to Speightstown which means that it is the real and authentic Caribbean. The buildings reflect that including the Fishpot restaurant which is also excellent and right on the beach. The only extra benefit at least for us would be a bar area possibly as part of the Fishpot where residents could go for a drink. Alternatively apart from a few very locals beach bars within walking distance it means driving in to Speightstown or further down to such as the Holetown area although that is only a ten to fifteen minute drive to the abundance of restaurants. One thing we did consider unusual was at breakfast in the Fish Pot that although naturally a cup of tea or coffee but a second cup would be charged extra Read less

We stayed 2 nights at Little Good Harbour at the end of our trip to the island and had a very relaxing time. The location by the beach is delightful, the property overall is charming and the little cottage we had was lovely - beautifully but simply decorated and comfortable, enjoying a partial view of the sea.  The main swimming pool was generally a relaxing place to while away some time and the service at the little spa was excellent (as were the treatments). It was only a shame that there wasn't any service around the pool - cold drinks would have been appreciated! We ate both evenings and mornings (and also one lunch) at the Fish Pot restaurant across the road. The food was excellent every time but the service tended to be very slow.  Read less
