Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Welcome to the only 3V and most affordable property on the V&A Waterfront. In a fantastic setting, overlooking the harbour and Table Mountain, you’ll enjoy not only a great location but true value-for-money too at the Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge. Formerly a 19th-century prison, the building is something of a landmark and rest assured, in-mates enjoy their stay much more of late! We recommend upgrading to a Family Room, which are more spacious with a sleeping area for children. When it comes to dining, Stonebreakers Restaurant serves up a tempting buffet or head outdoors to one of the many restaurants in the V&A Waterfront.

Great hotel near the waterfront. Easy to cross the road to get to the waterfront and the city sightseeing bus. Staff are friendly and are always checking up on you. Will definitely use this hotel again when I'm in cape town. Ordered room service once. Was quick and efficient and food was good.

We wanted to like it with its great location and friendly staff, but the stay was miserable because of the micro, small rooms, poor wifi, noise, and awful breakfast. The room was half the size of a standard hotel room, more like a closet than a bedroom. Breakfast was just crap in food quality layout and selection. This hotel had much lower standards than other same branded hotels from our experience. They seem to get a lot of University business and just don't seem to try as hard. I had absolutely zero benefits being Bonvoy Titanium. Very disappointed. Read less

Very enjoyable stay. Good price for 10 days, comfortable room and excellent location. Staff friendly and very efficient. Will certainly stay again. We were upgraded on arrival. The hotel is a short walk to Waterfront, Myciti bus and big red tourist bus. You can even walk to seapoint. Handy for football stadium and spectacular African art gallery

Beautiful views of table mountain and the waterfront. Location is central to everything the V and A waterfront has to offer. Immaculate rooms. So impressed with Covid-19 protocols, hand sanitisers placed everywhere. The breakfast was delicious. The staff are warm, welcoming and truly go the extra mile to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
