Le Meridien New York Central Park

The hotel

Both a modern masterpiece and a work of art, the Le Meridien New York Central Park has been styled to capture the glamorous era of 1920s New York. Expect leather Chesterfield sofas to lounge on and gorgeous lucky vintage shop finds, all of which lend character and atmosphere to this already iconic residence. From the luxury of your room – reminiscent of a cabin room on a seafaring liner – you’ll enjoy bird’s-eye views of Central Park as well as the surrounding city. In fact, you’re well placed to explore all the sights, including the world-famous Tiffany & Co, just a stone’s throw away. There are shops, bars and restaurants galore on your doorstep but the hotel’s The Roof is most definitely a place to see and be seen in. As well as boasting more of those gorgeous views we’ve been raving about, it has a very happening vibe plus the most exciting cocktails on the block. On the street level is Kingside Restaurant, another great place to relax, this time over the finest New American cuisine.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Drab, tired but good location and customer service

I had high hopes for this hotel given the location, but was really disappointed with how old/ tired it was. The room was small, outdated and drab. I seriously considered moving but it seemed like too much work after we got there late. The good news was that it was well located and the staff seemed nice. But I would not stay here again.

We went to NYC to see an opera at the Met at Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art - both just a few walkable blocks from this hotel, so location was perfect. It is also just steps away from the R train at 57th & 7th so we visited the 9/11 Museum (Cortland stop). The hotel checked us in early (11 am!) and upgraded our room, which… Read more

It is also just steps away from the R train at 57th & 7th so we visited the 9/11 Museum (Cortland stop). The hotel checked us in early (11 am!) and upgraded our room, which was very nice. Concierge suggested Rue 57 nearby for lunch - great recommendation, a real French bistro. He also reserved a dinner for Mother's Day at a great Italian restaurant on 46th St. Hotel's restaurant for breakfast on 2 mornings was better than expected - large portions of fruit and yogurt at $6 each was high, but not for NYC. Their restaurant service was attentive, but not friendly. Unlike the desk staff and bell staff who seemed bubbly and actually glad we were there. We stayed on the 11th floor, facing rear, so no view but I believe this is the quieter of possible locations. Room was big enough for the two of us and we both remarked that the bed was surprisingly comfortable. HVAC was quiet. Room was spotless. It had a huge (65"?) TV where we watched the 80-1 upset at the Kentucky Derby. We would definitely return. Read less

You cannot beat this location for proximity to the theater, shopping and the museums. The staff is very professional, especially the server at the breakfast grab bar that offered several delicious healthy choices. The room was immaculate and comfortable.

normally stay at the Marriott Marquise but decided to stay here despite the mixed reviews. I actually stayed here twice in the same week as I had an overnight stay at the Courtyard in Poughkeepsie. In all honesty, I have to agree with some of the reviews that the hotel is a bit dark as many have reported. For example, the bathrooms in the lower level are the almost a total blackout..not cool. But the libby is bright and inviting. The rooms are a bit worn and the walls are painted a dark blue. My room had a few pieces of modern art on them but the other walls had large shelves with books..that is art in my opinion. Both of my rooms had brass fixtures and marble floors and tile. The towels were very white and fluffy and the bathroom amenities were very nice and generous. I did not have any issue with noise in the hotel..but it was loud outside. It is New York after all. I will say that my room despite being worn was immaculate and I am super picky. (This is something that the Marquise should be paying attention to.) I have to say, please take advantage of the free water and espresso service because for some reason the coffee in the hotel restaurant is pretty yucky. My shout outs to this property is their staff. From the valet/ Bellman to the front desk associates including the concierge, it was nothing less than stellar. Clearly they make service their priority and they certainly were there for me when I accidentally left my phone in an UBER, needed to store my luggage, and FedEx a few boxes. The rest of you with negative reviews need to remember what this country is recovering from and be grateful these folks showed up for work. Read less

I'm a lifetime Titanium elite member with Marriott. I was so excited to try out this property in NYC based on it's fabulous location and how awesome the rooms looked in the images on line. I was terribly disappointed with my experience. The hotel is poorly managed, it's old and showing many signs of wear and tear. It's LOUD. I felt like the people in the room next to me were in my room. There were issues with getting enough hot water, the air didn't work, the list goes on and on. I wanted to love this hotel and have it be my 'go to'. Instead I will never stay here again. Read less
