Image of the Tripadvisor rating Elevator does not service this hotel adequately

The rooms are good, the elevator is the problem. I am not sure what the hotel can do to address this issue, but it is never appropriate to spend more than 2-4 minutes waiting for an elevator. I have stayed here 2 times and it was the same both times…. literally 10-15 minutes to wait for the elevator….. weird

The people at the hotel were friendly and especially the bellmen outside. They were exceptional. The room was clean and nice. We had a problem with the TV and called guest services - No Answer. We called concierge - Voicemail. We got through to an operator and someone was up to fix the problem within 5 minutes. There is no room service so in the morning we called guest services and concierge to find out if there was coffee in the lobby - same problem. There is coffee in the lobby by the way. The biggest issue to me is if you face out on 8th Avenue as we did, it is very noisy with horns and sirens all the time until quite late and starting again quite early. I don't expect to go back to this hotel although for the price I thought it was a decent selection. Read less

I arrived in the hotel with my family at 4am and after a long flight we were tired and just wanted a quick check in. When we got to the front desk, there was no queue and the receptionist was there. The moment she saw us, she went away for 10 minutes. Then, she came back and without saying a word to us she started fixing a printer. Finally, she greeted us in an impolite way and checked us in with the worst attitude ever. We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, the room was small but reasonable for NYC. The room was cleaned daily but this aspect could be improved. The location is marvellous, close to everything you need in New York. After a couple days, we kept noticing “weird” guests around the hotel and in the lifts, crying babies, women yelling and even smoking weed at the front door of the hotel. We began noticing that these people got off at floors 4 and 5. On the second night, the fire alarm went off and three fire trucks came to the hotel. The manager urged everyone NOT TO evacuate. Turns out, the incident was on floor 4. Luckily, it was a false alarm. Or so they told us. Everything seemed weird to us. So, after a quick online research we found out it that those floors are being used as a SHELTER for HOMELESS people! They go around the hotel causing havoc and are capable of lighting cigarettes and provoking a fire. To make things worse, when we were checking out we found out we had to pay 300 dollars extra for fees! Those fees were WiFi, international calls and access to the gym. We were never informed of these extra fees when we were checking in. Overall, If you are on a budget and will stay for short time in the city I’d suggest researching a bit more so you could find a better option. I had a great time with my family because we were hardly ever in the hotel. But beware of these hidden costs and the homeless people you might encounter there. Read less

The noisiest elevators. We were in a room next to the elevators. The bfast people were really nice but the people at the reception quite rude. It sounded like the metro was passing by the room all night long. The location was great though!

This room is covered in mold and dust which I happen to have an extreme allergy to. I’m overpaying for a room that is literally making me ill. How hard is it to spray some bleach to kill the mold instead of leaving it to grow, also not too hard to have your cleaning staff actually dust. this place is not sanitary to stay in especially for those… Read more

How hard is it to spray some bleach to kill the mold instead of leaving it to grow, also not too hard to have your cleaning staff actually dust. this place is not sanitary to stay in especially for those with severe allergies. I would leave if I hadn’t already dished out all the money upfront and I was charged additional $25 a night for an upgrade- how in the world is this an upgrade, yes please upgrade me to a moldy and dusty room please and yes do charge me an additional $40 a night fee to breathe in these extra amenities of dust and mold, but don’t worry the headaches and migraines come free Read less
