This hotel is in a great location and the staff is very helpful. I was, however, unprepared for how ugly the room was! Perhaps they have better rooms but mine was on a lower floor and it was very dark. The furniture was quite tasteless. There was only one lamp in the room (by the bed) so if you wanted to work at the desk you couldn't. There was a… Read more

Perhaps they have better rooms but mine was on a lower floor and it was very dark. The furniture was quite tasteless. There was only one lamp in the room (by the bed) so if you wanted to work at the desk you couldn't. There was a large TV but no remote control! I am glad I didn't pay too much for this room. It was so depressing that I decided to brave the snow storm on my check-out day rather than spending one more night in that room. You may want to hire their photographer, though. They did a great job with the photos of the rooms! Read less

We stayed here for a night after an opera at Lincoln Center. This hotel was quiet and clean and decorated quite nicely. There is a lovely lobby that you can wait or relax in (also a lobby bar). We got a slightly early check-in with no problem. The staff was attentive and efficient. This hotel is very close to many good dining options at several… Read more

We got a slightly early check-in with no problem. The staff was attentive and efficient. This hotel is very close to many good dining options at several price points. We enjoyed our short stay and are definitely putting the Empire Hotel on our list of good NYC hotel options. (One caveat: no in-room coffee, but there is a coffeeshop--Starbucks--around the corner) Read less

Well my girlfriend and I decided to stay at the empire hotel in Manhattan but before we decided to stay she showed me pictures of the hotel and it looked amazing the colors were bright and beautiful i told her i didnt want to stay at a place where the colors were dark and dull so the empire was definitely not that from the pictures that I saw and it looked updated and the rooms looked modern and well kept so before we got to the hotel my girlfriend called to ask if we can check in early our check in time wasn't until 3pm they said that they couldn't tell us over the phone we would have to go to the hotel so we drove from Jersey to Manhattan only to find out that we have to wait for an hour and half to check in so we sat around because we had no where to go and nodded off because we both were tired from working the night before so I went back to the concierge to ask her can we check in now she said the room that we ask for isnt ready yet but they have a room on the 2nd floor at the time I was like I dont care I just want to rest my head because I was exhausted so we took the room on the 2nd floor and the first thing I noticed was the bathroom it wasnt what the pictures showed and then how small the rooms were and how dark the light were in the hallway was disappointed.and because we were in Manhattan you can hear the honking of the taxi horns through the windows and that made matters worse because we were so exhausted. I dont mind spending alittle more if the hotel is modern and if they make an effort to try and help there customer and I wish the concierge lady tried to help I dont think I'll be staying there again. Usually in previous stays in the Empire, I have been pleased with the room and never experienced such a disaster as a heater that would not turn off. I felt like I was at a stifling summer camp. This room and other rooms on the same floor that were west facing all had issues with overheating. Windows were inoperable. I have in the past praised… Read more
Usually in previous stays in the Empire, I have been pleased with the room and never experienced such a disaster as a heater that would not turn off. I felt like I was at a stifling summer camp. This room and other rooms on the same floor that were west facing all had issues with overheating. Windows were inoperable. I have in the past praised this hotel, but watch out for a miserable room assignment. I will go back because of the proximity to the Met Opera and the opportunities offered for entertainment at Lincoln Center. Next time, I'll be on guard against a raunchy room assignment, as you should be!. Read less
