Park Lane Hotel New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

A benchmark for luxury Manhattan retreats, Park Lane Hotel is old-world New York at its very best. It exudes a definite air of upmarket class, with its well-dressed frontage opening into a grand lobby. But it’s what is outside the hotel that first wows guests – as you’re staying right along Central Park, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The address also puts you just a New York minute from other attractions, like Times Square, Carnegie Hall, and Fifth Avenue. With a location like this, it’s no wonder the architect designed oversized picture windows. Behind them, treats include a complimentary 24-hour fitness centre, free WiFi, nightly wine receptions with hors d’oeuvres, and dining and drinks at The Park Room Restaurant, Harry’s Bar, and Café on the Green.

Although there was a fridge in the room and details for minibar that wasn’t available either. However great Pret A Manger on the next block so manageable. Read less

The positives are the location- next to none for walkers so 10/10 for that. However, now for the bad parts, and there are many... - “city view” is a joke. Don’t fall for it. It is shabby view with dirty windows. - rooms are dated (I was aware of this from reading other views so i got what i expected) -bar is pokey... looks like it has been recently decorated... putting lipstick on a pig came to mind as it is stuck in a corner with little room - communal area is not that of a proper luxury hotel (i would expect some luxury for the prices I paid- and I booked months in advance) - the noise through the night from subway was keeping me awake - the air conditioning sounded like it was going to take off at some points. - breakfast is super expensive so I just ordered a coffee to sit with my son while he had banana, cereal and toast. Charge was $35!!... enough said - The biggest issue is the $38 a night charge for ‘resort fee’... the person at reception on check in said that it was not optional and that I signed up when I booked through booking.com. When I checked out what this unwanted facility is I found it to be wine or soft drink in plastic glass with some lumps of cheese or the like (gym + WiFi came as part of the fee which should be part of the overall cost in my view as these should not be seen as extras). An utter money making scandal and I will never stay at this hotel or use booking.com again. When I approached the front desk at check out they said they wish they could get rid of it as it causes so many “daily complaints”. Soon they will charge extra for using the lifts! Never have I felt so used to get every last cent out of me. Really annoyed by the whole experience and will never go back I have never written such a review before but that is how bad this place is re value for money... STAY AWAY! PS, I feel sorry for the day to day staff. They seemed v nice and were embarrassed at $10 coffees and $38 facility fees Read less

The hotel had its days but it is really needing for renovation. The location is very good, but rooms are very noise 24 hours a day. Amenities could also be better and more complete. Services are not so bad.

Stopped overnight in New York en route to Denver and booked into Park Lane Hotel. What a lovely experience albeit a short stay. I was checked in by a lovely lady called Nicole who made me feel extremely welcome and the concierge that took my suitcases up to my room was Raymond and he was extremely helpful and informative. The hotel was clean and comfortable, right across from Central Park and very centrally situated. I was only there for a few hours but would not hesitate to go back there on a longer visit. Read less
