Park Lane Hotel New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

A benchmark for luxury Manhattan retreats, Park Lane Hotel is old-world New York at its very best. It exudes a definite air of upmarket class, with its well-dressed frontage opening into a grand lobby. But it’s what is outside the hotel that first wows guests – as you’re staying right along Central Park, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The address also puts you just a New York minute from other attractions, like Times Square, Carnegie Hall, and Fifth Avenue. With a location like this, it’s no wonder the architect designed oversized picture windows. Behind them, treats include a complimentary 24-hour fitness centre, free WiFi, and dining and drinks at The Park Room Restaurant, Harry’s Bar, and Café on the Green.

However we were given the wrong room, was so disappointed, was looking forward to seeing the view of central park that was stated in our booking. I was close to tears at the state of the room. A big white bed, no decor at all, not what was shown on th website Went down to reception and discussed this with a manager, and after a few hours we were given the room we had booked-brilliant-although I had a feeling this was done for us with bed grace! The room was spacious and the view was breath taking. The next day when we got back from a day of sight seeing, a bottle of champagne and stawberries had been left us to celebrate our honeymoon-very kind but still doesnt excuse the quality of this hotel. The bathroom is very out dated really needs a refit, and the carpet on the landing either needs a deep shamppo or replacing! The bedroom decor was falling to bits not what you would expect from an 'executive' suite. The staff in Harrys bar seem put out when we asked for some food! A $40 fee a day to use the hotel facilites what a con! this includes international calls (evryone has whatsapp today) wifi use and $10 food credit. Id prefer a tea and coffee facility in the room to be honest. This was our honeymoon and first visit to New York, wish we had gone elsewhere with our $$$$$ Read less

No water upon arrival, no fridge or microwave in the room for $700 per night. No gym, no working space, no conference room or quiet working space. All the hotel has is a nice panoramic park view. Beds are comfortable, cleaning is fine. Everything else is worse then a three star hotel.

You would never know there is work being done at the hotel. The staff is incredible, the beds make it hard to want to leave them and the location doesn’t get any better. I would recommend Park Lane to everyone coming to NYC.

New beds are too low - garden Japanese theme is nit timeless. Shower has no place for shower products . Appreciate the effort to upgrade but the designs are impractical.this was our favorite hotel since forever and now we need to find a new favorite in NYC,
