Viewed at least 5 rooms before finding one where everything was clean and worked. One room viewed had half-eaten bowl of ice cream in the freezer. Other fridge/freezers were warm. Noisy everywhere due to elevators close to rooms. Front desk staff nice most of the time. Daniel the night manager on check-in was the very best and so professional and kind whilst helping me find a decent room. Great views from high floors. Tiny but cleverly efficient rooms. Safe locked, couldn't use it, no time to wait for maintenance. Microwave compartment door would not stay up in any room I saw, and this door landed on my head ever time I opened it. Brown water in toilet and sink two days. Electric outlet on desk fell out and hung by wires; another wall socket also loose. AC not usable at night due to blasting bed area with cold air. Thin doors and walls - heard everything on my floor. Ice maker in freezer dropped cubes in middle of night, waking me. Maintenance people entered my room despite "do not disturb" sign on door, after I told front desk not to let people in unless I was in the room. Very upset that my instructions were ignored and staff could see my personal belongings all over the room, and I don't know if the workers kept their masks on. I don't allow housekeeping when I travel during the pandemic - not needed for a few days. Doubt I would ever stay here again. Read less

We had a great time at the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park hotel over the Memorial Day weekend. The location is great for an immersive NYC tourist experience - close to Times Square, Central Park, and the subway to get you almost anywhere else. The area felt safe even late night and early morning. The hotel rooms are typical size for NYC and the view from the higher floors is ANYTHING BUT typical! The bed was comfortable and did I mention the view? Hotel amenities are still a bit limited due to COVID-19 protocols. The hotel staff throughout the hotel was great. Everyone was always friendly and accommodating to all our requests, especially Joseph at the Front Desk. They all seemed genuinely happy to have guests back in the hotel. My only critique would be hot water took a while to reach my 56th floor room and that the flatware in the kitchen needs to be fully restocked after each guest (e.g. we had 1 fork and 1 butter-knife provided but 4 settings of plates and glasses). Overall I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit NYC and wanting to be close to the tourist action. I am looking forward to my next visit in NYC in a few weeks and will definitely be staying here then. Read less

I have a lot to say, but I am mainly reaching out on here hoping that someone from Marriott will contact me to help me. I've tried calling the hotel but get put on hold by the front desk forever... no one gets back on the phone after 15 minutes on hold. I've tried calling the main number and can't get to a representative. I left a message for the billing dept at the hotel today hoping someone will get back to me. I originally had booked a room at Residence in Times Square using my annual certificate for one night and my points for a second night. (June 1 and June 2) . On May 20 I received an email from Rebecca McDonald stating that the hotel was under renovation and they would have to cancel my reservation, but they would be happy to book me at the same rate at the sister hotel Residence Central Park. From the email..."Our reopening has been postponed. We are truly sorry to have to share this information with you, but unfortunately we will have to cancel your reservation with us....Please consider my sister property, Courtyard/ Residence Inn Central Park. I can confirm they can match your rate and will match the room type as close as possible." This was fine with me, so I emailed her back and she booked us a room at Central Park. On June 1 (the day were to check in), I received an email from Marriott stating that I had insufficient points to stay in the Central Park Hotel. When I we got to the hotel I asked at the front desk and they said that I was not going to be charged for the room, and my original reservation at Times Square was being honored. I did use the valet parking and I knew that I would be charged for that. I requested a late check out on June 3, which I was granted as a Silver Member, and when I checked out at the front desk at 1pm, I was presented with the bill for the $140 and I paid it. Yesterday, June 18, I check my Bonvoy credit card and noticed that I was charged $770 dollars for the room! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE somebody from Marriott contact me to straighten this out or tell me who to contact! On top of this our first room was so noisy with a banging sound which was most likely coming from the plumbing, and our shower stopped a couple times too, that I asked to be moved to another room the second day. We had booked another Marriott closer to Bryant Park, and I had spent a lot of time choosing a hotel with a king suite that had a sofa bed for my teenage daughter. Exactly 1 week before my stay, we got an email saying they were switching us as the reserved hotel was not yet re-opened, and we were booked for a similar room. Arrived at noon and our room only had a king bed, and after 2 different discussions with the front desk they said they don't have any other rooms available with more than 1 bed. We ended up asking for extra blankets and my teenage daughter slept on the floor. I had reserved a King Suite and they switched us to a King as a "similar" room. Another issue, our second room had food in the fridge from the previous guest, and our room had a goldfish cracker on the floor and dried out contact lenses stuck to the night stand. Really wondering about their cleaning procedures. Positives to this hotel are the location, decent continental breakfast, and comfortable beds. This is my first real disappointment with Marriott.
